1.Re: Vives² Suggestions
Posted by Rachel on 12/12/2006 6:35:44 PM
For the most part, I agree with Henesua.

However, how about skilled smiths? What kind of master smith makes low-level items? Needless to say, there is only one master, and very few truly skilled craftsmen for each trade, so it shouldn't make a huge difference. Not to mention these items shouldn't be as powerful as a DM reward or what players can craft but should only be a step higher than merchants in terms of level and leap higher in terms of price. Otherwise, I completely agree ...
2.Re: Vives II Suggestions
Posted by Rachel on 12/14/2006 11:53:46 PM
Since we're on the subject of crafting, I'd just like to add something. This isn't really a suggestion, nor is it particularly productive, but it always bothered me how people could be master craftsmen as well as spectacular fighters.

Both of those professions require a lifetime to become skilled at, yet both can be achieved in half a lifetime in Vives (or any other server with crafting, really). Not to say Vives crafting isn't good, its easily the best I've seen. Now, I don't really ...

Hey I'm back! And I'm gonna make a new char with a custom portrait. I dunno if this was already posted up or what, but here's the link:
My Portrait
I dunno how to insert a picture into here.... so you'll just have to go to the site to see the pic.

Meh... the colors of her outfit dont really matter because in game you see only her face.. and some other small things.... either way its a good druid-like picture and I like it :D

This is for my new gnome sorceress. Its a great portrait made by an artist with multiple entries into the Hall Of Fame (including this one). I still don't know how to insert pictures into here, so I'll link you the NWvault site and you can look and download for yourself :)

Gnomey!

As for my druid portrait, I can't find it on Nwvault anymore, so you guys are out of luck. I don't know ...

People seem to like blaming it for historical inaccuracy. I'd just like to point out that since the beginning they've been boasting that it is tightly based around the comic NOT the historical event. Of course they changed some things from the comic, but if you compare them side by side, you'll praise the cinematographers and such for so closely basing it on the comic.

Also, a lot of people are confusing 'liberty and justice' with simple nationalism. It is true they threw in liberty ...

Can't we just add II to the current one? I've gotten so used to it :P

I like your modification Talos, but the II seems a bit too dark. The rest look good as well.

Just a question.. what does this mean exactly?

"The only negative to this is that the server does not support a command line switch for directory-mode modules."

12.Janus Oceanmast
Posted by Rachel on 4/16/2004 11:52:45 PM
On a particularly warm evening, a man was walking along the shore watching the sunset when he stumbled upon what looked like a book. It was soaked and covered with seaweed. He cleaned off the seaweed to find "Janus Oceanmast" written in golden letters across the cover of the book. As his curiosity overcame him, he opened the book to find a journal entry. Unfortunately, there were many parts left illegible because of the water smearing the ink. The man could only make out about half of ...
13.IG Time vs. RL Time. What do we do?
Posted by Rachel on 12/26/2003 4:30:34 PM
As you know Hans and Rachel gave birth to a child, yet we are encountering a problem with time. We want the children to grow up, and we have stopped playing on Vives for three weeks, just to show that Rachel and Hans have been hard at work taking care of their children. Now, I hear from Dens that Vives goes by RL time, and if three RL weeks pass then our chars only get three weeks older. If this is true, this doesnt allow any chars to die from old age, and doesnt allow new chars to be born, ...
14.Re: IG Time vs. RL Time. What do we do?
Posted by Rachel on 12/26/2003 4:55:37 PM
I agree, but the topic is more on the big view, people aging and dying, children being born and raised. Like Hans and Rachels' daughters, for example. Maybe I didn't really make that clear.. I was just kinda rambling in that first post =P

Oh and what you said about the two weeks thing. Hans and I did that, and Dens said it wouldn't work out, so I just wanted to get some opinions so I don't so something stupid.. When a DM says something, I don't like to defy him unless I got the view ...

Won't we all enjoy the day we see someone says, "CHARACTER WIPE?!?! YAAAAAAAAAAY!!" (Without Sarcasm)

But thats besides the point. My point is we have to someone solve this problem of aging because if old people dont die, then children cant grow.
16.Re: IG Time vs. RL Time. What do we do?
Posted by Rachel on 12/26/2003 5:05:26 PM
Yeah, thats what Hans and I did, we waited like a week before and three weeks after our wedding to have these children be able to enter Vives as adventurers. The excuse for our absense on Vives for the past three weeks can be explained by, "We were taking care of our children, who are now old enough to go out on their own and adventure"
17.Re: IG Time vs. RL Time. What do we do?
Posted by Rachel on 12/26/2003 5:16:18 PM
well it can't really go by RL time, cuz for every few hours in RL, a few days go by within the Vives world, if you go by the rising and setting sun as your inernal Vives clock. Not sure what we could say about this, other than for kids and such, at least give it a week or two for them to be born, and the same for growing up and such...takes time, but not as exagerated as in RL...

We didnt just throw the idea of children in one ...

Okay, because I can't make her look fat doesnt mean she isnt pregnant. Second, why would she be kicked out of the Order of Light because of giving birth? Is the cycle of life a sin? No one knew about it because they decided to keep it on the low, not to mention how little Hans and I were online during that period of time. That also explains why no one knew she was pregnant. I must admit, it wasnt as well planned as we had thought in the beginning, but thats mostly because I wasn't online often ...

About what Rul said about planning this out before-hand. It seems that many of you are missing out on a vital detail. Hans and I have been planning this for quite a while now. We have talked this over with Fen and a little bit with Ara, but mostly Fen. I basically posted this thread because I was going to make Angora and Dens said I couldn't. I was then a little confused so I decided to post to clear things up. Fen okayed most of it (some we had to change and we did) and it was good to go. The ...

Well Ch'ang, the reason why there were so many different replies to my question is because no one really thought about this before. They set up a DM conference and are going to discuss this so they can come up with one universal answer to Vives' time problem. Until then, we have to sit tight and await the results of their meeting.

5. The whole Evil VS Good is always tough. Vives hopes to implement some cities which you can classify as 'evil'. So in these places there will be now real laws, more the MIGHT IS RIGHT kinda idea, opposed to a city like Midor where laws are important. With more background like more cities, there is more potential for quests specifically for evil chars. DM's try to keep things as 'even' as possible. Especially when it comes to long quests. But we also wish to provide small quests, which lack a ...

I really hate to get involved in things like this, but I felt a need to reply to this.

Sorry Q, but I have to go with Sion on this one. I have noticed things like this happening in Vives as of lately, and it is coming to a point where it can't be ignored. I think because the majority of us are from LoL, we (The DMs included) have developed a paranoia. We don't want to become anywhere close to LoL, but in all this paranoia, we have lost sight of what are real goals were, and are ...
