Coherency shattered Posted: 06 Dec 2003 12:28 PM |
I'm a bard.
The world of Vives is supposed to be rich with its own mythology and setting. So I go around looking for books to study about VIVES so I can roleplay like I actually know what's going on. I am a bard, after all. Shouldn't I be able to recount the actual history of VIVES to other people?
The thing is, every book you can buy in Midor seems to be from the Neverwinter Nights 1st Campaign. Why? Why are these books here, confusing people like me who want to learn about Vives? There is nothing, short of a newsletter in Port Royale, about VIVES that I can find so far. In an advertised world "rich in roleplaying" such omissions of world history are nearly inexcusable, especially for a bard.
Where ARE people learning the things they are spouting off about the cities and lands? I'd surely like to know. I am a bard, after all.
That aside, it is BECAUSE Vives is so fun and rewarding to play that I care so deeply that my illusions of a consistent storyworld are shattered. I wish you guys would take these Faerun and Waterdeep and Swords of the Coast books out and add in the Vives ones you're most undoubtedly working on. As a bard, a true history of Vives would be fun to read. It's not like I can go out and buy a history book on Vives. You guys are the only source of material for Vives.
Did I mention I was a bard? (wink)

1. PHB (players handbook) for Vives has some lore 2. a lot of it is under construction 3. some of it is still developing 4. much of it has evolved and is documented in some very slow reading in the forum 5. ask people IG |
Dieties preserve us from the evil chaotics named Lag, Crash, and Server Reset. PCs: Loli Dankirk (Ftr 18/Brd 8.5 @ 1777 hrs) left Vives for Origins; Gnora Gnombody (Sor 5 @ 54 hrs) and Amanda Stark (Wiz 3 @ ~10 hrs) left Vives for Feline Providence. |

I rewrote the item descriptions and books to not include FR lore for a PW once. It probably took about 200 hours. Long side of.
When the staff have 200 hours on their hands to do something that...well...minor... then perhaps they'll do it.

In Midor Library there should be some books on the Vives Gods....... and I would also be tempted to use some information from the Website as an extension.
The New version of the PHB will full Histories of the World and all Cities will be available very soon (thanks to Fen).
Also people who want to make erfs of books and such can e-mail/send them to me and I'll put them in the Library etc....
Contact me in irc if you're interested.
Cheers

The date where the players should have a much better/richer history should be by Christmas at the latest. Consider it my christmas/hannukah/kwanzah gift to all you player . It will contain everything one such as, say, a bard would need, as well as some others.

I just make stories up.
It's more colourful that way. |

This is most likely the first server I've been on where more than one person could spell coherent. |

Well, every server needs a statement that attracts others to it. "Nearly all the players can spell coherent" might as well be our catch phrase. |

Just "nearly all the players can spell" would be different and somehow refreshing. |

Spelling is unimportant. Observe.....

It might be unimportant when it comes to getting the message across, but you sure come of like an idiot when you write like that G |
