2.Re: Favorite Vives moments?
Posted by Kandaelis on 1/17/2010 2:39:24 PM
Hmm, hard to say, but Ronan and Lirnna on top of the hill, shooting down all trolls that dared face them is a nice memory. As was the time Ronan got his hands on a wand of wonder and much punning ensued. Or maybe the time Mhoraethian had a long sit down with a certain character who wielded a flaming scythe, a very long time ago.

Lots of memories. Oh and hi ;)

Oh and regarding Aesirs comments about the beetles. I'll just say I watched more of his untimely deaths than anyone else...

While I didnt see the saga of his undoing at the flippers of penguins, I can say I at least saw the horror and trauma of the after effects.

P.S. Kand, if you come back for a 1.69 update, I've a character idea that's never been tried before** and I'd like to play again.

** either a slightly (SLIGHTLY!) balding human monk or a slightly (SLIGHTLY!) balding human ranger.

Youre right about that. I dont remembery you ever playing a (SLIGHTLY!) balding monk or ranger.

Aesir,

position 97 at 62 deaths is Ronan Aesir!

Congratulations you piker, you made the top 100. Now if only he'd stuck around, he could have been great!

- Paul

Yeah, but he died harder and longer. That has to count for something!

11. You dream you are your character (i did 2 nights ago)
12. You keep almost calling co-workers names from Vives characters you know (Ronan is imprinted on my brain it seems)

But I ask you? Are these bad things? Nah...

Its sad that the man is gone, who, though I never met him, added so much to my life. Its sad too, that I only really realized how much, after he was gone.

Goodbye Mr. Gygax.

Real money moving for goods and services in games means the Government comes in and takes thier piece of the action in the form of taxes. As it happens, the Government is taking keen interest already in virtual economies.

Lirnna Virvaniyon
A young Elven maiden with unkempt silver hair, Lirnna is known for her boundless enthusiasm, fearless curiosity, and less than perfect mastery of the common tongue. She is fiercely loyal to her Lord Aros, Ferein, and to the many friends she holds dear. She is most often found in the company of her closeset companion, Ronan Aesir, or one or more other close friends. When on her own however, her curiosity and sense of adventure often lead her to dangerous places, ...

16.Re: Let's talk about roleplaying
Posted by Kandaelis on 6/4/2004 11:30:56 AM
As Aesir said, this is a very broad topic and at first I was at a loss as to where to go with it. Ive decided to talk about one specific revelation ive had regarding my own role playing. Im not sure if this will be of any use to any of you, but what the heck.

I had noticed a tendency in myself to have my characters become rather inactive in large group settings when there is alot of interaction going on. I wondered why that was. Recently it occured to me, this is a direct result ...

Landru brings up good points. Its very important that you maintain the integrity of the character you are playing. And RPing all the time has its advantages. You may think no one is watching you, but they may be. A character could be hidden or a DM may be around. As an example, one time I was playing Vahlah and no one seemed to be around. I had her chatting with Cara (the little girl who lost her teddy) and Cara started talking back. It turned into an enjoyable little RP encounter. ...

Above the green earth
higher than mists of the air
In the heavens above us
two stars most fair

their light ever upon us
whether by day or by night
compassion and love
tempering great might

for those seeking solace
comfort they bring
each dawn and each dusk
a song that they sing

Ferein they watch over
its every animal and tree
all the Elven kindred
to whose welfare they see

22.Re: UMD scale is skewed
Posted by Kandaelis on 7/9/2004 12:53:00 PM
I actually like the new UMD implementation, but i think it needs to be tweaked. The DCs Start out too high for the low lvl scrolls. As it stands now, a Lv 1 Rogue with max UMD has basically no chance of success reading a Lv 1 scroll. I think that should be more like a 50% chance. Furthermore, IMO, the high lvl spells arent all that much harder to read than the low lvl ones. As spell lvl goes up, it should get harder and harder however.

I think the UMD/Spellcraft DC progression ...
