HOTU Release Feedback Posted: 04 Dec 2003 03:16 PM |
Just a Quickie to ask you folks.......
When will people actually have HOTU? We were/are going for an update to Vives early in 2004...... but... if everyone has it before then (and it's not too much of an ask for coders and Q etc..), it might bear consideration of us going to it fully sooner than that?
Just wanted some feedback as to when folks will have it.
Cheers

| I have it as of yesterday (03/DEC/2003). |
Dieties preserve us from the evil chaotics named Lag, Crash, and Server Reset. PCs: Loli Dankirk (Ftr 18/Brd 8.5 @ 1777 hrs) left Vives for Origins; Gnora Gnombody (Sor 5 @ 54 hrs) and Amanda Stark (Wiz 3 @ ~10 hrs) left Vives for Feline Providence. |

Based upon this feedback and give that I won't have any time until next week to even go out and buy HotU, I think we should plan on last week in December at the earliest on upgrading the server.

| In the same boat as Beornagain. Weather is a bit fowl and I barely made it to get a Christmas tree let alone go and pick up HOTU. |

Random HotU things to point out...
1) There is a beta patch ALREADY for 1.60 :]
2) There's been a bit of an issue with Dragon Disciple PC's in persistent worlds - as in, their added stat bonuses have made the characters illegal when a server has 'Enforce Legal Characters' switched on... |

Is there a reason to have ELC on with a server vault, though? |

Re: HOTU Release Feedback Posted: 05 Dec 2003 05:34 AM |
We don't need to enforce LC's true...... it's only an issue with morons creating hacked chars and running riot which happens on some servers upon occasion. this though we can get around easily enough with registration and use of the Ban CD key button :D
So not really an issue for Vives. |

Re: HOTU Release Feedback Posted: 06 Dec 2003 01:19 PM |
IF I install HOTU will Vives be "broken" ?
IF so, for how long?
I really only want the Robes and the Skies features. I've been waiting for a long time to play with a "legally" unlocked camera, didn't want to risk that hack going around messing up my updating ability, etc...
I'm dying to install HOTU, though. Let me know if it's a bad idea for Vives.
Later. |

If you install HotU you will not be able to connect to vives untill they release the 1.60 patch that will bring everything up to the save version (since everyone runs on 1.32 and HotU is 1.59). They said its going to be released early next week, hopefully on monday. I would go ahead and install and play the OC untill then (its realy prey good, a little easy but good none the less. Prety funny if you pick deekin and tomi as henchmen). Also you will not see robes and skies in Vives untill they uprgrade to HotU. You will still be able to play on vives with HotU installed but you will not see any of the features like skies, robes, items, and monster from HotU.
If you have the room for a double install (I didnt bother doing it) you can copy your neverwinter nights directory and rename it to something else so that you have 2 NWN on your computer under different names. Install HotU on one of those and leave the other one the same. Now you have both games installed. |

Re: HOTU Release Feedback Posted: 06 Dec 2003 01:31 PM |
People who install HOTU will NOT be able to play Vives until we manage to get the next Bioware patch 1.60...... which we are led to believe will be available early next Week.
When we merge with this patch both SOU and HOTU players will be able to play Vives, but the SOU players will not have access to the new feats/classes/spells etc etc......
When we finally go and fully import HOTU (in a couple of weeks or so) then it will only be open to HOTU players and not SOU, this is due to the new tilesets and monsters etc etc that will then have been imported into Vives.
Hope this is clear, if not then post away :)
Cheers

Based upon this feedback and give that I won't have any time until next week to even go out and buy HotU, I think we should plan on last week in December at the earliest on upgrading the server.
Well, as we predicted, it looks like we'll be going HotU only on the server real soon now (as in a matter of hours). I just wanted to give you all a heads up that we'll probably be releasing v99 (a HotU-only build) later today. So if you haven't gone out and gotten HotU, today might be a good day to do that. :)

Also, to make HotU work 'right', we'll be releasing a new hakpack. I'll post once this is ready.
