A huge shoutout Posted: 21 Aug 2006 07:51 PM |
To James42 and Melanie42 (James and Mel) for one of the coolest weekends I've had in years. Here's what made it so cool:
terramara performing live at a free show. Now everyone must go buy their CD's and demand their local radio stations to play their music!
Watching terramara while sharing rocket of beer with James and Mel. Well, okay, mostly with James.
Discovering Kahlua coffee. It's alcohol and caffine! It gets you drunk and sobers you up all at once. Perfect!
Memorable quote from Mykal: "At least she looks young from the back"
Jeff, who really was dreamy
Cute red headed bar maids
"James, defeater of paladins" I am ashamed. Truely, I am.
Finding a real, honest to God dark corner in a dingy pub. I thought for certain some old man was going to approach us with a quest.
The money pouch! As my wife said when she saw it, "That's so you." Thank you again for that.
What an amazing weekend! |

Just remember, they aren't really roleplaying when they're in Vives. *nods* |

Gargantuan shout-out back to Mykal, for a weekend that really, really hurt me to be over...it was so much fun. How can you go wrong with great weather, awesome music, terrific company, and all the Egyptian Mead, Guiness, Henry the VIII turkey legs and raunchy good times of the Renaissance?
And Aranel, nice to chat with you as well, even if the reception was merky at best...just managed to keep some mystique about you. There ARE pictures, but unfortunately terribly few...I've found pictures are only taken when you are bored and looking for something to do. When you're having that much fun, the camera stays annoyingly in your manpurs....I mean, LEATHER SATCHEL, unbidden. But we got a couple. I'll have to get that off the camera.
And Ghannodahn, I'm actually a dreaded six-string guitar player. Melanie is the bass player you share a musical kinship with. But Terramara is way better than us, trust me.
Now, please. Can anyone on this site help me and explain to Mykal how flour actually CAN be explosive???

Flour can not under any circumstances, be explosive. Unless you mix it with gunpowder! We went over this extensively, remember?

Actually, Jason is the dreamy one. *sighs and daydreams of Jason* I just say that to aggravate James and it works so well :)
But seriously, a wonderful weekend. Lots of fun, good friendship, great conversation and perfect weather.
We will have to do it again soon and perhaps others will join us. |

First off, Seattle is cool....Plus Marlena and ghannodahn and I all live there...what else could you want? We'll have a big Vives Players Conference, and when we all get together, we'll all look at teach other, realize we have nothing to say to each other in RL, and go back to interacting with each other IG.... ;)
Second, and most importantly, let's review this line:
When you're having that much fun, the camera stays annoyingly in your manpurs....I mean, LEATHER SATCHEL, unbidden. But we got a couple. I'll have to get that off the camera.
I'm sorry, so who had the manpurse, James or Mykal? Please let it be Mykal! Days, weeks, months, even years of entertaiment with that one...Please let it be Mykal *crosses fingers* |

Now listen, when you dress up for the renaissance, inevitably you're going to be forced wear certain items that will threaten modern conventions of manhood. The frilly blouse, the tights, the lacy thong and high heels....
...whoops. Um, sorry. Thinking of something else here. Ahem...
Anyway, it's not a purse. It's a leather satchel...very functional.
And please don't pick on Mykal about it, he's very sensitive about these things.

Vivessians should definately try meeting in RL whenever they can :D (Notes to Arathon and Lisen that he'll be moving to Rochester on Sunday, and thus the commutes to Canada and back can begin!)
And it just occured to me that I'll be doing a good deal of traveling over the next few years as I head out to different reenactments :D You can meet me AND be shot at! |

Leather satchel INDEED! I was at the Renaissance Fair in Key-Center/Purdy/Ollala, WA last Saturday. I saw a man dressed as an elf, wearing a loincloth. He had the false ears and everything... Problem was, either he had a banana-hammock ((man-G-string)) or nothing underneath... and he wasn't of "frail" build... it was just WRONG. A great effort, but I think such costumes should be limited to dancers, and annohrexics. I mean his @$$ was--- and there was hair--- EEEWWWWEEEEE!!!!!!
