Juylina - Past, Present and Future
Posted: 25 Nov 2004 05:39 PM
Juylina awoke in her newly rented room in Midor’s Unicorn Inn. She gave a slight frown, as she knew in order to go anywhere she’d have to pass by all those annoying zealot Midorans, but alas she could not find a suitable place else where so this would have to do for the time being. Arising from her bed, she tossed the blankets into the corner of the room, “At least they could clean my sheets once at day,” she says in an annoyed tone, “I mean, just think of the extra business they’ll get once the men realize I’m staying here. They should be treating me with more respect that this!” She grabs a robe and a towel from the back of her door and proceeds to bathroom to clean herself up after sleeping in those dirty sheets for the night.

An hour later, she appears from the bathroom looking like her normal self. She returns to her room, grabs her swords and slips on her tight fitting armour. Taking one last look at her hair, she leaves the room, locks the door and walks down to speak with Cale about her room’s condition. Before she could get to Cale, Cara ran up to Juylina with a smile on her face. Juylina had developed a liking for this child after giving back her lost stuffed animal, she saw a bit of herself in this young child. “Cara, you have such potential,” Juylina bends down to look at the child at eye level. Grabbing her hand, she places 10 gold coins, raised her finger to her mouth and let out an ‘shhh’ sound, “Keep this between us,” Juylina brushes back a few strands of hair from the child’s face, “Do something nice for yourself.” She stands back and walks over to Cale.

“Cale,” she says in a demanding tone, “I require some better service here. I would like my bed sheet cleaned every day, a hot water bath drawn when I require it and heated sheets ready when I need them.” She places an extra 50 gold pieces on the table, "This should cover my demands, if not I’ll take my business elsewhere." Juylina turns around and walks out the door without letting Cale respond.

Juylina steps out the door and take a deep breath, she can still feel the humidity in the air and knows it is going to be killer to her hair. She quickly exits the city though the front gates, ignoring all the towns Midorans. Talking a few steps out of the city, she is stopped dead in her tracks. A sharp pain tears though her body clasping her to the ground. “Naruth…” she squeaks out before passing out.

She awoke a few hours later with the smell of burnt grass and wood all around her. Slowly she struggled to her feet and could immediately tell that some thing was wrong. Juylina looks over at one of the fires that was still burning and tossed branches and leaves on the fire to enlarge it. As the fire rages larger, Juylina gets down on her knees and beings to pray to Naruth. “Naruth, Wielder of the Flame, most beautiful of the sisters and most beautiful of all the known and unknown realm, I pray to you that all is well and submit myself to your wishes if need be. Until then, my strength and beauty will be front and centre for all the non-believers to view the favour you grant to your followers.” She remains in the praying position for about an hour before arising to her feet.

“I must speak with Ilyana to make sure that all is well,” Juylina turns to the woods to make the long journey to the temple.

Juylina - Past, Present and Future

Juylina walks into the Unicorn Inn, struggles a slight smile to Cara (although she can obviously tell that Juylina is quite angry at something) and walks upstairs to her room. As she walks down the hallway to her door, she reaches for the key and inserts it into the door. Juylina is a bit anxious and can’t seem to get the door open on the first try. She takes a step back from the door, takes a deep breath, steps back towards the door and slams her fist into it. “For the love of Narth!’ she yells out as she struggles with the key again. Finally, the lock ‘clicks’ and the door swings open. Shaking her head she walks into the room and shuts the door.

Looking around her small room she sighs and places her Two Bladed Fire Sword on the wall and unfastens her armour. Juylina looks over to her bed, takes a piece of paper from her pack, sits down on her bed and begins to write.

Oh Great Sister, Weilder of the Flame, you have my eternal gratitude for the gifts that you have given to me. Your blessing is of such power that it is hard for me to believe that you grant it to mere mortals. Despite my words of praise, I must bring you my sincerest apologies for the bad news I am afraid that you need to be aware of.

Despite my every effort, it seems you are not as respected as you should be. The two worst offenders of this are two hind. One is named Alton, he is a follower of Vilyave (so I suppose his disrespect should be no surprise) and the other is his soon to be wife, Claudia, who has called me a ‘Dog of Naruth’. Sister, I ask of you to show these two your power and the respect that should be rightfully given to you.

((signed “Your Priestess Juylina”))

Juylina scans over her letter and stands up, holding the note in her left hand. She takes a deep breath and turns her attention to a candle burning on a table to her left. Clenching her fist on the top of the note, she holds it over the candle and lets it burn, “Sister, I hope this will reach you.” Juylina grimaces as the flame reaches the top of the not and beings to burn her hand. Breathing deeply, she says in an intense tone through clenched teeth, “I will not falter.” After a minute, the note has been complete burned by the flame and Juylina removes her hand from atop of the candle.

Juylina - Past, Present and Future
Posted: 12 Dec 2004 02:16 PM
Walking back to her room in the Unicorn Inn, Juylina is mouthing curse words while Arcane is following, not really the proper was for a proper lady to be acting but she doesn’t care right now. “Wait”, “Stop”, “You’re hurt.” he keeps saying, but Juylina keeps walking.

“I’m fine,” she says while taking short deep breath is an obviously very angry tone.

“We’ll get them next time,” Arcane says to her to try to smooth things over.

Juylina doesn’t even look back or give any acknowledgment other than a deep sigh and just stomps off into her room. She swings the door open and drops her amour to the ground before the door is even closed. Running over towards the wall, she stabs her flaming sword into the wood. “How in the name of the Great Sister did I fall to beasts from that bitch Helkris!” Juylina yells out as the sword is ripped back out of the wall, leaving noticeable singe marks around the hole from the flame. She stands with her sword in two hands, staring at the hole and taking very quick deep breaths. Finally, after a minute of staring at the wall, she collapses, catches the still lit candle flickering on the table in the corner of her eye and starts to cry.

Sobbing, she blurts out while stuttering in her breathing, “Oh how have I wronged you Great Sister? I try to follow the examples I find in texts and the Great High Priestess…but…it is just so difficult at times.” She rubs her tear filled eyes with her hand, “Wait…” she lets out in a calm voice as her breathing returns to normal. “How foolish of me, of course it is difficult!” Juylina says in voice that seems to get angrier with each passing word. “What strength does me crying of all things show?! It shows weakness and I’ll be damned if I am going to be known as the first weak priestess of the Great Sister!”

Jumping up to her feet while still holding her gifted sword from the Volcano, she stares into the flame of the candle for a moment and slices the table in two. “Could a follower of one of those other two bitches do that? I think not!”

“Great Sister, I may have faltered, but it was only for a moment. Please forgive me. I will not let it happen again.” Juylina turns around, straps her armour back on and walks back down stairs with more confidence in her path than ever before. “Cale,” she exclaims in a demanding manner as she walks out of the Inn, “The table in my room is broken. Fix it.”

Juylina - Past, Present and Future

Juylina took a final look at her room in the Unicorn Inn as she shut the door. Never has she looked this saddened before, “Cale,” she softly says to him, not her usually demanding tone, “You can rent my room out.” She turns to walk out but stops as she sees Cara standing by the door. A small tear forms in her eye but quickly she wipes it away, Cara had become almost like a daughter to her and was worried of having to leave her behind. She knees down to eye level with her and brushes Cara’s hair behind her ear, “I’ve got to go for a while but I promise you that I’ll be back. Someone will be watching you. You’re so beautiful, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.” Juylina got back to her feet and walked out the door without looking back.

Things had been difficult for Juylina in the past number of months…death at the hands of a minion of Helkris and retelling the one childhood event that led to an epiphany – no more false gods, the Sister of Fire should be where she placed her faith. But now her faith has faltered a bit, she needed to find it once again. “I’m sorry Sister,” she says quietly as she leaves the city to find herself once again.

The Epiphany - The Past

The Epiphany - The Past

Juylina always had a very good childhood, her parents Treght and Crisitha Komthya, were both followers of the Sister of Wind and were raising Juylina under Vilyave’s faith. She lived under the gentle breeze that that Vilyave chose to show her, often spending entire afternoons just staring at the birds. Life was good, she was beautiful, what more could she ask for?

Years later things started to change. Juylina never had a problem with her beauty and everyone seemed to share that opinion…except for one boy, Kalink. Looking back now, it was easy to tell that the boy had a crush on her however it was not something she realized at the time.

It was a rainy day as the children ran home from the daily teaching of the Sister of Wind, when the boy starting making fun of Juylina, calling her ugly. “I am not ugly!” she yelled back at him, tears started to form in her eyes.

“Yes you are, yes you are!” the boy giggles as he said it. He ran by Juylina, knocking her down in the mud. As she fell, the boy stopped and pointed at her “Everyone look at Juylina!” he yelled out as she started to get out of the puddle that he had pushed her in. “Look at her! She’s the dirt princess!” he giggles again and ran all the way home.

As Juylina rose to her feet, she check her hair…it was covered in mud, so was her face and clothing. Crying, she ran all the way home.

“Juylina,” her mother’s eyes widen as she runs in the door, “What happened my dear?”

“That boy, he pushed me! And he called me ugly! I am not ugly!” she screams out in between bursts of tears.

“Juylina!” her mother snapped back, “Do not raise your voice like that. Vilyave would not be pleased, now lets get you into a bath, you know better than to think you’re ugly.” Juylina stomped upstairs to the bathroom and just laid in the tub for an hour, stiring in her own hatred for Kalink.

After a while, she came down from the bathroom with her blanket. “Juylina,” mother said in a calm graceful voice, “you should sit by the fire to warm up and I don’t want you catching a cold.” Still in a bad mood, Juylina stomped over to the fire and plopped down in front. She just sat there, staring into the fire.

A few moments later, mother came from the kitchen with a cup of hot tea, “He Juylina, drink this, it will warm you up.”

Juylina grabs the cup from her mother and threw it into the fire, “I don’t want it! That boy should be dead for what he did to me! I wish he’d be dead!” At the time, she was really angry and did not understand what she had done.

“Juylina!” her mother yelled at her, the first time she raised her voice to her daughter, “Never, never, /never/ say something like that!” Sitting down beside her daughter she wraps her arms around her and begins to cry, “You can’t say things like that Juylina…you never know who could be listening.”

“I’m sorry Mother…I’m sorry…”

The next day, Kalink was not at his lessons or seen all day. Juylina thought she’d take the long way home (which passed by Kalink house). As she approached the house, she was overwhelmed by the smell of sulphur, she didn’t think anything of it until she saw the house. She fell to her knees as she looked at the burned house, completely destroy by fire “What have I done…” She knew exactly what she had done, it seems the sister of Fire answered her wish. ((regardless of if this is true it is what she believes)) “I can’t go back home now…”

Days past and Juylina never returned home, no one could find her…”Juylina,” her mother whispered as the wind flew past her, “come home…it is not your fault.”

Juylina - Past, Present and Future

Juylina walked the land of Vives, searching to find her faith once again. First days past, then weeks, then months…she had no idea what she was even looking for. Could she find her faith again by wandering the land? Was Arcane right? Did she make the right choice?

She had drifted off into her own thoughts and didn’t realize she had walked in front of a pack of wolves. The wolves begin to growl slightly as Juylina stopped and holds her breath. Slowly she reaches for her long sword at her waist, pulling it out the sword blazes with fire. Smiling, she seems surprised by the fire of the sword and quickly and gracefully cuts down the wolves.

Did Juylina cast a spell on it and forget? Did Naruth herself bless her sword? Whatever is was, nothing mattered now. She found what she was looking for, her faith renewed.

The Awakening – The Past

The Awakening – The Past

Juylina just ran, ran away from her parents, her goddess and her old friends. She had felt betrayed by the Sister of Wind and only found comfort knowing that the Sister of Fire had heard her plea. When she reached Port Royal, she finally decided to stop running.

The next few years of her life were not good years, most of her time was spend on the street, making a few coins tending to the sick or modifying clothing. Days started to feel longer and the nights got colder. She began to wonder if it was finally time to return home.

One night as she was packing up her things, a young woman dressed in red holding a large sword ran by her stand, “Wait, hide under here,” Juylina said without a second thought, almost wondering why she said it because the last thing she needs is City Guards tearing up her things. Still, she lifts up a few shards of red cloth and the woman crawls underneath.

Moments later, two city guards ran by her stand and around the corner. Not thinking it is safe yet, Juylina continues to pack up her things as the guards come back to question her, “Have you seen a woman dressed in red come by here?” one of the guard roars out in a demanding tone. Juylina just nods her head and points over to the sea. “Bloody Hell! We’ll catch her next time.”

Moving the clothing aside after the guards leave, Juylina sees the woman huddling down in a ball trying to hide, “Come,” she says with a smile, “I know a place you’ll be safe for a while.” She helps the woman to her feet, grabs the rest of her things and walks out of the city.

Juylina had been spending a bit of time in the near by woods. She liked to get away from the noise of the city; it was one of the things she most missed about her home. “You’ll be safe here, you’re welcome to stay as long as you like,” Juylina says to the woman as she sets her things down from the stand, “Let me start a fire, the Sister will keep us warm tonight. I’m Juylina, what is your name?”

The woman blinks a few times as she looks down are her red clothing and back up to Juylina, “You said ‘the Sister’?” Juylina nods quietly, not really paying much attention to the other woman’s shock or clothing, she just continues to try to start the fire. The woman walks over to Juylina, sets her sword down beside the fire, “Here, let me do that for you,” the woman places her hand near the firewood and it combusts.

“How’d you do that?” Juylina stares at the woman with a confused look.

“Juylina was it?” smiling to her she says, “I’m Cenitna, a priestess of Naruth.”

“What…” a few tears run down Juylina’s face, “I had almost begun to believe that she was just in my imagination…I had no where to go…”

“Now Juylina, you should know She wouldn’t like to see you crying like that.” Cenitna wipes the tears from Juylina’s eyes, then takes a comb and begins to weed it though her rarely washed hair, “And you should also take much better care of yourself. Your beauty might be hidden underneath that dirt, but I’m sure it’s there.”

“I would…but…but I barely make enough gold to get a meal.”

Cenitna raises her hand to silence Juylina, “Enough, I’ll make sure you’re well off,” she drops a bag of gold besides Juylina’s feet, “Now there is 1000 coins in there, make /sure/ that will last.” She sets down a book beside the sword she dropped earlier, “You should also keep these, the book will tell you all you need to know about Her and the sword is Her favoured weapon.”

Juylina gives Cenitna a hug, “Oh thank you! You have no idea how much this means to me! But…how will I know She’s there?”

Grining, Cenitna replies, “She is always there, and She can work in mysterious ways at times. I’m sure she had something to do with our meeting.” She rubs Juylina’s back for a second as she is griped tightly before standing, “I really shouldn’t stay too long…hopefully we’ll meet again.”

“I hope so too Cenitna.” After Cenitna has left her sight, Juylina looks down at the gifts she’s just received and then to the fire, “I wish I could feel more from you Sister.” Without a second thought, she reached down to grab the sword. It would take a long time to get used to something as awkward as this sword, but her practice would start now.

The fall of a Dragon – The Present

Sitting on her bed, Juylina rest her head on her knees while she tries to keep control of her emotions. “Sister…I did not know that would happen…I thought the dragon wanted power…I was trying to help him obtain in. The others…they must have deceived me! I’m sorry Sister...I’m sorry. I did not want the Dragon to die…it was the most beautiful thing I had even seen…” Juylina takes a deep breath to calm her staggering breaths, “The High Priestess knows too…she sounded so calm when she told me Muga was coming…but…but…she must hate me now…”

Wiping the few tear away, she looks around her room. “I can’t stay here any more…this city is getting to me…I must move to North…I’ll keep Helkris minion in check…she has to forgive me…she has to…I’ll prove to you Sister that you did not make a mistake with me…”

Meeting with Xaranthir - The Present

Meeting with Xaranthir - The Present

Carrying everything she owns, Juylina leaves the town of Icy Vale. It had been a few weeks since she had seen Ilyana and had hoped to find her somewhere in the domain of the ice bitch, however her search was in vain. She had gone as deep into Helkris’ realm with power that she had been given by the Great Sister would allow. The only other option would be to search the Volcano.

She had made the trip to the Volcano alone a number of times since Ilyana first took her a number of months ago. Goblins fell, gnolls fell and mountain giants fell until she had reached the mouth of the Volcano. Taking a deep breath of the heated air, she beings to walk towards the steaming magma until a stone tablet catches her eye. Smiling widely she starts to run over to it, hoping that maybe it was a note from her high priestess.

A frail looking, stone tablet has been left at the entrance of the volcano, safely out of reach from the giants. Etched in a flowing script on the stone is a short message:

Warm blessings upon thee,

I, Xaranthir, would like to request an audience with one of the representatives of the holy temple of Naruth. Forgive the use of crude stone to convey my request, but parchment wouldn't withstand the environment very well.

Whoever would be so kind as to grant me an audience, please speak out loud and your words shall be etched into the stone and into it's brother, which I'm still holding. Hoping on a positive answer, my warmest regards,

Xaranthir.

Who or what left the tablet there is unknown.

Juylina scanned over the note quickly and remembered that Ilyana never uses such a crude manner of commutation. She thinks about the message for a few seconds until she was overridden with worry. “That means Ilyana hasn’t seen it yet…She can’t be inside.” Juylina then drifts into deep thought, Xaranthir, I’ve heard that name before.. Her sadness seems to get worse, That man seemed to be released with the death of the dragon…It’s his fault he died! He probably did something to Ilyana too…She grips tightly on her flaming sword, her sadness had lead to anger and hate, “Alright, I’ll play” she grinned then calmed herself before saying out loud, “Juylina.”

A simple reply forms on the stone after a few moments:

Meet me on the Great Plains in two days forth at the start of night. I shall look for you there for three consecutive nights.

Upon reading his response, it only fuelled her anger, He chooses to meet me at the place of the Great One’s death, how bold of him. “Fine, I shall meet you there tomorrow,” she says out loud, Hopefully he’s going to bring the correct answers to /my/ questions.

She turns away from the Volcano to make the trip back to Icy Vale until the time comes when she must visit the Great Plains and this 'wizard'.

Meeting with Xaranthir - The Present (Part 2)

Up ahead sitting by the fire, Juylina can see the man known as Xaranthir. She approaches him without acknowledgment, removes the leather and pulls off the robe once she is out of the cold from the Vale and near the fire. With a few quick hand motions she checks to make sure that he hair is still and place when Xaranthir finally speaks up.

“I assume you’re Juylina?”

She smiles, tilts her head a bit and replies, “Of course, and you are no doubt Xaranthir.” Juylina usually tries to be pleasant with her initial greeting of people, no matter what mood she is in, as she knows how important first impressions are. After a few seconds, the warm smile on her face fades away to make way for a cold stare.

“I must say, I’m surprised to see you here, I expected Ilyana,” the wizard replies.

The two of them talk back and forth for quite a long time. The meeting was rather informative for Juylina as she learned a few important things, notably that Xaranthir was not holding Ilyana captive. She also learned that somehow the Hellfire wyrm had captured his soul and the wyrm's death released him. She didn’t know how much of this was true or not but he promised to tell her the full story at another time. Xaranthir also mentioned that he had a deal with the followers of Naruth to harvest Fire Opals from the Volcano and return them polished. He wanted to be assured that this agreement was still valid, so Juylina agreed, even though it seemed as though he got nothing from this agreement, until she could speak with Ilyana.

As Juylina stood up to leave, Xaranthir asked him about her ‘High Priestess’ Lani. Juylina’s face when cold again, snapping back “Don’t you ever use her name with the Sister of Fire again! Ilyana is the High Priestess, not that fraud!”

“No need to be like that dear Juylina,” Lani said softly as she faded into Juylina and Xaranthir’s view.

The walk to Brandibuck – The Present

The walk to Brandibuck – The Present

In her head, Juylina goes over some the recent events on her way to Brandibuck.

It had been a number of weeks since my meeting with Lani. It was not the most pleasant thing I’d ever been a part of, however one good thing came from it, I knew Ilyana was alive and not being held somewhere.

Recently, I took a job for a drunken dwarf. I hadn’t been out for a while, so the opportunity to earn some gold was appealing. This dwarf talked about a lost ship known as the Golden Path and it was “Filled with great riches, mountains even!” . It really was against my better judgment, however I wanted to keep an eye on a woman known as La’legn. She wore, what appeared to be, armor stolen from the volcano…Ilyana would be quite displeased if I were to let this pass.

The ‘Captain’ agreed to give us one percent of the total treasure each, although it took some convincing on my part. Calm seas eased the journey, however the ‘Captian’ thought it was his right to “have his way with a woman on board” and I would have none of that…luckily for him, I was more interested in the gold.

When the ‘Captain’ said that the group was the most miss-matched group he had ever seen he was probably right: A scared woman with a scythe; a foolish necromancer; a dim-witted kobold; a girl who’s parent are probably looking for her; a paladin of Midor (nothing else needs to be said about that); some sort of pirate man; and me, the most beautiful woman in all of Vives (with the exception of Ilyana of course)…It’s a wonder the men were not bowing down at my feet, but I supposed they must have an image to keep up.

The Bridge was eerily empty, just a few scattered undead. Nothing seemed out of place until a group of the undead approached in a non-hostile manner. They said that we’d have to enter the cave behind them to find the treasure, Brave the cave, and you will find your just reward. I followed the rest of them into the cave, even though it was against my better judgment.

Inside, a group of Dwarves waited, for who knows how long. They said our ‘Captain’ had tricked them and now they couldn’t get out. I wondered if I’d be stuck in this damned cave as well, but since they were already in the group decided to push forward.

The whole cave was some sort of magical maze. There was no seemingly logical way to get though, so arrows were laid down to mark the places we had been before. It seemed like a good idea, however unbeknownst us the dang kobold was picking up the arrows. We finally found him, but that was not the only thing there…we also found a great demon.

In it’s own vile language, the kobold talked to the demon. Perfect…who knows what that fool said. When the demon announced that it hadn’t killed in a long time, La’legn and I slowly went back the way we came. Moments later, the other girl followed, but the others didn’t. I figured they must had been killed by the demon, either way, I wasn’t going to concern myself with their well being.

Again, the three of us started going though the caves until we came upon the bodies of the other three. Dead, completely, nothing I could do. Hell, even if She had blessed me with the power to raise them, I would have left them there anyway for their own stupidity. Serves them right.

Moments later, the ‘Captain’ arrived. He brought them back to life with some scrolls and led us out of caves…somehow he knew the way.

When we reached the longboat, the ‘Captain’ told us that we were going to get paid; one percent of nothing is nothing, his laughter was like a dagger in the back, oh how he would pay. I calmed my anger and was about to get in the boat when he pushed off without the rest of us. He held up a golden crown, which apparently was the Golden Path. The bastard left without us.

La’legn and I thought we’d take the next best thing, the kobold. He seemed to work for the ‘Captain’, so we’d split him up…sadly he got away. Oh well, soon enough, they will find a flaming sword in their backs or perhaps a scythe.

On the walk back to the Great Plains, La’legn and I got to have a talk. It seems as though she did not steal that armor, but had it made especially for her…I’m not sure I believe that, but I’ll let it slide after what she told me. Apparently there had been a recent conflict between Sister and the Bitch over a sword. Neither side was victorious, however it now lies in the possession of a paladin. She wasn’t sure which one, it was either Peter, Chia or Brand and they’d probably be found in Brandibuck.

I bid her good bye and made my way to the halfling village. Surely they’d want to give back what they stole.

Juylina - Past, Present and Future
Posted: 09 May 2005 06:20 PM
Juylina sat in her room in the Broken Mask Inn staring at a candle on the table. ‘So much has happened,’ she thought to herself, ‘Ilyana had to return early, we have to deal with those ill-breds who attacked the Volcano and now the Great One who lived in the Core has returned.’ “Some good, some very bad, and pay they will” she says aloud in her empty room.

On top of those three things, she felt something else. Something driving her towards…what…she didn’t know, but she could feel it, “I’ll need to get Muga, Azrael and that Dante man, whether he likes it or not.” A sly smirk goes over her face which those that have spent time with her know all too well, “And maybe persuade some other to come as well.”

“And then something will change. Soon it will become clear to me and then the rest of Vives will know.” Still staring at the candle, she reaches her hand out and clenches the flame without a flinch or a burn mark. The Sister was starting to show more faith in her as her resistance to the flame was increasing. She sat in the darkness, still staring towards the smoking unlit candle…

Juylina - Past, Present and Future
Posted: 10 May 2005 11:09 AM
Juylina sat in the dark and considered some things more deeply. ‘How exactly did the Great One return?’ She remembered his death and mourned it deeply for a number of weeks, ’It’s body was in he Great Planes, but then it disappeared…I wonder what happened to it’ When she met Ilyana after her return, she never thought to ask, although part of her was afraid that she might hold her responsible. She sighed deeply and then smiled as she considered what had just happened.

A group of Dark elves started running from he woods near Buckshire. She had made a deal with these Dark Elves a week ago, but still had not been contacted to fulfill her end of he bargain. The group headed into the woods and she just grinned, knowing that probably not of them knew where they were heading, not even Alton.

They fought their way down while Juylina stood in the back telling them what they were doing wrong, because, obviously, she did not want to get all sweaty and have her hair messed up if she was going into the Core. It was difficult at best, the foolish elves always thought they knew where they were going, but that was hardly the case. If they had listened to her, they would have spent far less time down there.

After numerous long hours, they finally reached the way down, but unfortunately, Juylina had stepped on a trap just before she was about to go into the Core. Her lifeless body lay on the overhang looking down into the Core. She was so close but now so far, so she did the only thing she could think, she prayed to Naruth…and for the first time ever, her goddess had responded, she had heard the voice of her goddess.

She jumped up quicker then she had ever done before, she could feel the life flowing through her body. It was like her blood had been replaced with fire. Quickly, she climbed down and smiled as the look of horror came across the face of all the others, especially Alton. They had no idea where they were being led.

Things were not all positive; the place had been infested with the Dark Elves. It didn’t take long before they cut down the entire group, even Juylina who did not raise her blade. Moments later, she felt life returning to her body. Luther had been following the group the entire time.

As she rose up to her feet once again, she looked ahead to the Great One and her jaw dropped…‘How…how is he alive’ It didn’t matter at the moment, all that matters was that the great dragon had returned. She walked straight towards the dragon, fell to her knees in respect and proceeded to tell him of what the rest of the group was planning on doing.

Obviously, it was brainless for them to believe that they could defeat the Great One, but they continued they disrespect of the Dragon. The dwarf was even foolish enough to try to run and grab that elven object, which of course, got him killed as soon as he touched it.

That angered another fool, the human Jimmy, who ran up and attacked the Dragon. As he tried to get in a blow, Juylina turned and knocked him in the stomach with her fiery sword. The dragon then swung his massive claws at the man and knocked him down. This gave Juylina a wonderful chance to leave a mark on the ill-bred that attacked the Volcano. With her sword, she burned a scar into the side of his neck. Now he had a constant reminded of what happened to anyone who chooses to be ignorant again the Sister. Ilyana still, no doubt, has plans for him.

Luckily, for the rest of them, the Dragon did not cut them all down. Luther was wise enough to offer the Dragon something in return for what they were after…piles and piles of gold. Most of the others agreed, with the exception of Rasputin. He though to demand that an alternate offer be taken…such a fool that one is, to make demands upon The Great One in his home! The dragon picked up Rasputin and shook him until all the coins he had offered, two million, had fallen from his body.

Such kindness the dragon showed, letting them all live and sending them from his home. Juylina talked to the Great One for a while and he then sent her back, away from the others.

She smiled to herself as she sat in the dark and reached out her hand to the candle once again, relighting it with her hand.

The Shard of Ferein - The Present

The Shard of Ferein - The Present

‘Today is the day,’ Juylina thought to herself as she came upon Muga in the Great Plains ‘Today, they will learn not to be so ignorant to our faith’. Muga was sitting down with her feet in the campfire, “Ulloz priestay,” she struggled out in common.

Juylina smiled back to her, “Hello Muga.” It was a good thing that Ilyana thought to send Muga along. The dragon had told her where to go, but she didn’t know the way, luckily Muga would.

Moments later, the man Dante arrived, “Violina. Who's your friend?”

Juylina could only stare at him. She had warned him to show respect when speaking to a priestess but still he had ignored her, “Muga, be a dear and show him some respect for me before we leave.”

Muga jumped up and started growling at Dante. She raised her huge flaming sword to her shoulder, which appeared to be hostile manner, “Yuz sez priestay name royt...me not carez 'bout namez...she doez. So yuz sez it royt, or me ripz yuz 'ead orf?”

Juylina grinned as he could only reply with her real name. Muga might not be attractive to human standards, but when it came to intimidation, there was no one better then her. After that issue was settled, the three of them started their trip into the realm of Helkris. Just before they were about to exit the cave, she told them what she had been asked to do.

Ilyana had delivered a message to her though the Dragon from the Core. She wanted Juylina to retrieve one of the shards that the elves were collecting; the same one that the Dragon from the Core had obtained. The dragon had told her the shard could be found atop a huge glacier deep within Helkris’ realm. Of course, Juylina agreed.

“Da hoy partz iz dangahrouz,” Muga said when she finally understood where they had to go. Juylina looked back at Dante, then to Muga.

“I know, but we have to do this Muga, I’ll be looking on you to show us your true strength.”

Muga grunted, “Alroyt, yuz will needz ta stayz bak a bitz, an' letz me keepz yuz aloyve.” Then she turned to Dante, without any concern “Yuz wantz me ta keepz 'im aloyve?”

Juylina looked Dante up and down, “Just worry about me first.” She knew there was something with this man that compelled her to bring him along, but whatever it was, it surely couldn’t be as important as her own life. “Lets let us get going, there were others coming, but it seems they have 'forgotten' and the elves might have caught word of where the shard lays.”

The three of them began to move though the frozen realm. Helkris knew they were coming and had already moved Frost Giants to try and stop the Naruthians. With Muga there, the giants fell quite easily. Muga did most of the fighting until Juylina tried to move up and help her, but the Giant’s frost sword beat her into the ground, followed shortly after by Dante’s death. All Muga could do was look down helplessly at Juylina’s body.

As Muga bent down to pick up Juylina, bursts of divine energy flashed all around her. She quickly set Juylina back down and her lifeless body started to feed from the Sisters flames. Luckily for the group, they were not yet far enough in Helkris’ realm as Naruth has granted life to Juylina once again.

Juylina slowly struggled to her feet. She could feel the frost bite starting on her uncovered legs and arms as her protection had faded. From her pack, she grabbed her red robe and put it on before she got any colder. The frost had also begun to attack Dante’s lifeless body. She kneeled down in front of him and started to pray to the Sister, “Sister, please guide this one back to the land of the living, let your fire rage though his body. He might not know it yet, but he will become one of your followers and dragonkin.” Muga wasn’t so sure this Dante was going to be a dragonkin, nor was Juylina for that matter but she thought it might be what could be felt from him.

Deeper and deeper they went into the Ice Bitch’s realm until the reached the top of the glacier. Muga went up first to make sure it was safe and called the other two up after she dealt with the birds. As Juylina climbed up the rope to the top of glacier, she could see Muga running away from a huge white dragon. Before she could react, the dragon swung, tossing her body against a wall of ice and knocking her out cold. Next, Dante climbed up and meet a similar fate. All Muga could do was hid behind a rock and watch as the dragon knocked out Juylina and Dante.

Muga had a very good hiding place, as the dragon kept snapping at her with its massive teeth, but she was just out of reach. After a few minutes, the dragon gave up and flew away. Again, Muga looked helplessly at Juylina. She knew Juylina wasn’t dead, but Muga was not a priestess like Ilyana. So she left her there for the time being and went after the Dragon.

The dragon was nowhere to be found but a cool breeze blowing from a cave caught Muga’s attention, so she went in to see what it was. It was another dragon, an Ice Dragon, much bigger then the one that had knocked Juylina and Dante out. Muga was trying to explain why she was there, but dragon was loosing patients with the huge half-orc.

Outside, Juylina and Dante regained consciousness and ran into the cave to gain cover from the high winds and snow at the top of the glacier. When her eyes locked upon the dragon, she knew it had the shard. “We have come for something,” she said in a slightly respectful and almost demanding manner.

“What I wish to know…is why,” the dragon snarled back at her.

She swung her two-bladed sword on her back, “This 'stone' is no use to you, and we require it for a time.”

“That I know, servant of fire.... and yet I wonder of what use it is to you?”

The dragon was not simply going to hand it over to her because she asked nicely. Juylina considered a number of things…should she tell the truth? Should she lie? Grinning, she decided just to warp the truth. “If a group of ignorants defiled a temple to Helkris, surely you'd want them to pay. They have already done so to our temple. I have heard that they wish to do so to yours as well.”

The dragon snorts back to her, “They would not dare!”

“They shall, however, they have yet to do anything against you. It will be a surprise attack much like the one against us,” she chattered back to the dragon as the cold was starting to get to her.

A low growl emanated from the dragon, “Then they shall die...yet, how would this 'stone' serve your needs?”

“We have been planning for a response to let them know what happens when fools try to fight against any Sister. We will stop them before they have a chance to do anything further but we need that ‘stone’ as bait.”

The dragon peers down at Juylina, “And if you do not?”

Again, Juylina thought for a moment. The Dragon would simply not give up the stone, so she had to offer something the dragon would not be able to resist…she would offer herself. “If I do not, then your mistress shall find me and bind me to her service. And I will make it my sole purpose in life to hunt them down.”

Soft laughter came from the huge beast, “An irony…yet an offer I shall not forget servant of fire”

“It will not be one I will be required to keep, as we will not fail, but I will keep my word if it comes to that.” Ilyana would not fail in punishment of the ignorant, so she felt safe making that claim and she also didn’t plan on keeping the deal…of course, she might not have a choice if it came to it.

They backed out of the cave and under the cover of Muga’s invisibility spells, they ran back down the glacier, until they reached the tundra. The Bitch had a number of her servants watching the Naruthian’s decent down the glacier and they ready to attack. Muga stopped most of them and Dante ran off as fast as he could back to Icy Vale like some sort of Vilyavian. Juylina rushed in to help, but Muga was overwhelmed and had fallen. She backed off and begun to pray. Getting to her knees, “Sister...Muga has fallen, please fill her blood with Fire once again! Please Sister, Ilyana will be most displeased.”

A kindly voice in spoke in her ear, “You now have the power daughter, use it wisely.”

Juylina smiled as the Sister had given her the power to bring Muga back to life herself. She kneeled down in front of Muga and covered her over with her flaming sword. “Flames, give rise to this child of yours once again!” Slowly, the fire ran into Muga’s body and gave her life once again.

They ran all the way back to the Volcano and dropped the stone where Ilyana would find it. She had succeeded in what her Priestess had asked of her, she was most pleased with herself, even if Muga did most of the work.

Muga stayed at the Volcano and gave her a message from Ilyana of what Juylina was to next.

Juylina had an idea that the group of elves might show up around Buckshire, so she told the guards if they saw a group of elves to send them into Doc’s. She grabbed a bottle of wine and waited. She got but one drink before they came though the door, obviously looking quite depressed.

She could just grin as the came in and sat down at the table opposite her. “Did you find another shard?” giggling as she asked. But she already knew the answer, “I might know where you can find it. We have taken it to the Volcano and it will remain there for now. If you want it back, tell those that defiled our temple approach the Volcano and we will let them in. Those such as Jimmy, Rasputin, Brodie…I could go on, but they’ll know the rest.” She turned and walked out without letting them respond.

There was just one thing left to do, leave a message in Ferein. Juylina jumped on the boat and sailed off to the Elven lands.

When she got there, she put up a message on a tree near the shore:

To those seeking the Shards of Ferein:

The shard has been taken by the Followers of Naruth. Send those that have defiled our temple, Rasputin, Jimmy, Vurbag and Brodie, just to name a few, to the Volcano in three days time if you wish to see this shard again. Any hostile actions against any of our faith will be meet with harsh consequences.

You have our terms,

The Naruthians

~the bottom of the note appears to be burnt~

It was all in a day’s work for a Naruthian.

Juylina - Past, Present and Future

Juylina sighed as she sat down and to remember what she wrote on the sign left in Ferein, “I really don’t think that sounds mean…it’s just the truth.” She shakes her head and begins writing a second note.

To those seeking the Shards of Ferein:

To make it clear, we are willing to give up this shard and simply ask you not take any hostile action upon us. Please, come to the Volcano with those that have acted against us, in two days time and we will hand over this shard. Any that do so will be given the chance to make amends for their past actions, any that do not are naming themselves our enemy.

Juylina speaking for The High Priestess of Naruth

She read it over a few times to make sure she got it right, this was no time to screw up again. “I believe this will do…I hope…”

Out on the streets of Port Royal, Juylina approaches a man who seems down on his luck. “Sir,” she calls out in a demanding tone, “I have work for you. I need you to deliver this message to the shores of Ferein.” She hands him the message and a sack of 100 coins, then points to the ship leaving Port in a few moments, “I’ve already paid your way there and where ever you wish to go afterwards. Now, begone and do not fail!”

The Temple – The Future

The Temple – The Possible Future

Juylina walked into the realm of the Mountain King, but something felt different. She walked with a new sense of vigor and fury then she had ever felt before. The lone giant that dared to approach her was cut down in one fiery swing of her sword. It was strange that only one giant was about on the Volcano, but perhaps Ilyana or Muga had just been outside.

Something was drawing her to the Temple…it must be Ilyana in need of something. She approached the top of the volcano and looked down. There were no mephids flying below but that was certainly nothing too out of the ordinary. She slowly made her way down along the sides of the Volcano. The heat and flames had no longer become an issue for Juylina as her body had completely adjusted to her increasingly common surroundings of the Volcano.

She looked around the vast openness of the Volcano, she always liked to admire her surroundings when she was here, then made her way into the inner temple. Suddenly, on the back of her neck she felt something very odd…a cold chill. She stopped and looked around, but the entrance way was still empty. “Ilyana?…Muga?…” she called out, “Are you there?…” An eerie calm seemed to sweep over interior as a few rocks from the side of the Volcano plopped into the magma and her voice echoed around the emptiness. Clenching down on her lip, she continued to look around the vast empty interior, but there was no answer from Ilyana.

Slowly, she approached the door to the inner Temple…beyond the door there was a sound of breathing; of what only could be giants. Looking around the entrance one last time, she started to push open the door to the Temple. A large shiver went down her spine as she pushed the door open and before her stood, what must have been, fifty Frost Giants. A shaman stood at opening of the Temple. Juylina’s eyes widened as a build-up of frost begin forming in front of the Giant. As quickly as she could, she jumped to her left as a massive cone of frost caught her leg. Luckily the pain was not too great, as she had cast a ward earlier to protect against the rain.

But that was the least of her worries. She was a bit too forceful with her jump and it had sent her almost over the edge. Reaching back towards the walkway as far as she could, her hand just caught the edge. She was dangling over the steaming hot magma by just one hand, Where was Ilyana…she told me that she was not going to do what Lani had done…this can’t be happening. Her anger began to grow, not just for Helkris but for Ilyana too…she just couldn’t understand how this could happen.

Straining as much as she could, she could not pull herself up over the edge because her armour was too heavy. “Naruth,” she yelled down towards the magma, “Give me the strength to kick these servants of the Bitch out of here!” She could feel her body temperature rising and her arms tightening. With one motion, she launched herself up towards the one Giant that had come out after her and swung her sword into its head, knocking it over the edge into the magma. Flipping off its upper body, she landed back on the walkway, bracing herself with her other hand.

Quickly, she jumped to her feet, “You’re not getting the temple this time Bitch!” Continuing to yell, “Naruth! Fuel me in this battle!” She started to run as fast as she could into the temple………

Dream? – The Present

In her room in Port Royal, Juylina jumped up from her sleep. Her brow was covered in a cold wet sweat and she breathed quickly and deeply. “Was that a dream…?” she said in-between her quick breaths…”I’ll have to make sure…”

She calmed herself and started to get her things together. “It was probably just something Lani is sending me to try and confuse me. There is no way, no way that Ilyana would do that.”

Romulus – The Present

Romulus - The Present

Juylina was at ease after returning to her room. She knew that the dream was just that, a dream but it still worried her. There were other things that now needed her attention...that thing Romulus. As she sat at her desk, she took out a quill, ink and parchment and began to write.

Her Holiness, High Priestess of Naruth,

I send to you a message regarding the gnome named Romulus. I tried to explain to him the error of his ways but he would not listen to me at all. He was about to take a man and a woman into the swamp and pay them a large amount of gold for a simple task. I knew that he was planning to kill them and raise them as one of his mindless beings. Such an ultimate disregard for what we most hold true!

I convinced them not to go with some coin of my own and he FINALLY listened to what I had to say. He seemed quite taken back that I would give him orders and he said that Malakhi would be forever damned to his service…although I doubt that he has the power of that. I informed him that he would be hearing from you shortly.

Then he started to drag bodies though the town of Buckshire, so I assisted the guards in trying to drive him away but he jumped on a boat that was setting off for Ferein before we could reach him.

You assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated,

(Signed Juylina, Priestess of Naruth)

She read over the letter one last time before she crumbled it up into her hand and in a burst of flames, the letter turned to ash.

The Temple – Part II – The Future

The Temple – Part II – The Possible Future

With her flaming sword in hand she charged at the Shaman. Beads of sweat began to form on her forehead and it almost threw her off for a moment as she rarely sweats – the heat of the Volcano and her rage for Ilyana felt like her blood was boiling. Juylina’s eyes widened as she could see the more ice particles forming at the hands of the Frost Giant. That could only mean another burst of ice – something that she was not too keen on seeing again – so she picked up her pace towards the giant.

She moved at an incredible speed towards the giant as the flames from her double bladed sword trailed behind her like two wisps flying at night. Even getting a complete view of the entire army the Ice Bitch sent to the Volcano was not enough to slow her stride down.

The ice particles had formed into a larger ball at the giant’s hands by the time Juylina had reached him and with one fluid motion, the searing heat from the swords sliced though the frozen skin of the giant – at his hands. The spell stopped instantly and the large block of ice fell to the ground in front of the giant. She smirked slightly in delight as the giant toppled to the ground in pain and shock. Turning around, she quickly exited back out of the room and conjured some of the magma to form a wall between her and the giants.

She shut her eyes and kneeled down to the ground, keeping a tight grip on her sword. Her breathing intensified as she gave control to the fury boiling in her blood.

Sister of the Flames, Most Beautiful to Ever be,

Give me the strength to send these foul, ugly, frozen creatures back to where they came from. Let me burn their lifeless bodies in the north to serve as a warning to any that should try and defile our temple again. And most importantly, let me find your priestess who abandoned this place… alive!

As Juylina opened her eyes, she could immediately feel the power of her Goddess flowing into her body – new strength, endurance and a divine blessing. After just a few short minutes, the wall of magma began to fall. She could see the giant preparing for battle once again – but Juylina didn’t waste any time, she ran towards them and lept over the falling wall.

The battle waged on for, what seemed like days. Her flaming sword sliced though giant after giant, rarely getting hit with one of the large swords the giants carry. Even the slight cuts she received were quickly healed by the armour given to her by Ilyana so long ago – and that realization only added to her fury. On this day, the giants were clearly no match for Juylina.

Even after the long battle, she still had a lot of strength from her Goddess. She started dragging four of the giants there were just barely alive to the summit of the volcano (one in each corner) and left a fifth one at the bottom of the stairway – the rest would be tossed into the magma. The four giants were then set ablaze as a warning to what is going to happened to the next person who should anger Juylina and her Goddess.

At times Juylina can get fairly single minded in what she is doing, as was the case here. She was so caught up with making the few living giants suffer, checking the rest of the temple never even occurred to her until the giants where all removed from the room leaving only smalls pieces of burnt giant and blood soaked walls. When she finally realized her mistake, she readied herself again and started to move deeper into the interior of the Volcano.

She didn’t get too deep into the Volcano before she was stopped dead in her tracks. In-between two rivers of magma, lay the lifeless corpse of Ilyana Fiirhaart, High Priestess of Naruth – her high Priestess. She approached slowly, calling out her name but with no response. Ilyana’s wings were draped over her body and Juylina bent down closer to the half-dragon. “Ilyana?” she said slowly as she placed a hand upon one of her wings. The wing felt lifeless and delicate and her body felt as if it was normal temperature for a human.

Juylina stood back up and looked down to the corpse. She wasn’t quite sure how to react. How could she have stopped the Ice Bitch’s onslaught but Ilyana was killed and where was Muga? Maybe this was just a test…but from whom? Ilyana or Naruth? As she knelt down, she took a deep breath of warm air and begun her preparations for a resurrection prayer.

Naruth, your --- After the first two words of her prayer, she stopped it. “I could end her right here, then it would just be me,” she thought out loud. “High Priestess of Naruth, Juylina – I like the sound of that. Let’s just remove her head and be done with it.” With a tight grip of her sword in one hand, she looked down at the person she spend so much time looking up to. That realization made her contemplate for a while longer about what she was supposed to do – what Naruth wanted. Juylina bent back down towards Ilyana once again and placed her left hand across her face – still holding her sword in her other hand.

It was time for a choice…..

A Dream – The Present

Juylina awoke at night in a cold sweat, going over her latest dream. It was not something she was happy about and it was not something she could even ever see herself having a problem deciding about what to do.

The first dream kept repeating itself every week or so and this one was probably going to do the same – but it would not let her find out what she decided in the dream. Maybe she was just not ready to handle a situation like that.

After the Dream - The Present

After the Dream - The Present

The dreams were getting worse, was all she could think to herself. Why do I wake up with a choice like that? Why!?” she yelled out in her room. Juylina was having a hard time accepting her dreams. She lives for few things in this world – her Goddess, her strength and her beauty – but the importantly is to please Ilyana.

The emotions of fear and sadness were starting to get the better of her, as her lip began to quiver and her breathing became sharp and quick. I won’t let these emotions consume me, she bit down on her lip and tried to better control her breathing.

Deep down, perhaps she did desire power more than pleasing Ilyana, but in reality Juylina is a very scared young woman. How many times has she gone to Ilyana when someone was making fun of her, or when she was threatened, or when any little problem arose? It was far too many to count. This would never be something that Juylina would ever admit to anyone but it was the truth.

For now, these dreams seem to show her that she’s not ready for that kind of power, responsibility, or even to make important decisions. Perhaps the only way she’ll ever be ready would be if she was put in a similar situation as Ilyana was – like her dream – she wouldn’t have any other choice but to grow up.

A few minutes passed and Juylina retook control of her emotions. It also gave her a chance to go over a few things in her mind, which was to please Ilyana of course. Problems were coming and it was time to collect on some old favours.

She slipped out from under her covers at her room in Broken Mask Inn and wrapped her bathing robe around her slender body. While she was up, she grabbed her ink, a quill and parchment from the near by desk and plopped, stomach down, on her bed. It was almost as if she had completely forgot about the previous night’s dream as she kicked her feet up in the air while looked around her room.

Numerous things cluttered up her room. While the room might appear cluttered to some, everything had its place in Juylina’s heart. Her sword of fire that Ilyana gave her many months ago hung over top of the armour that a naïve dwarf made. A second sword and set of armour were set up in the same manner as the first one. It was obvious these two were of far higher quality then the others – the sword was blessed by Naruth herself and the armour was beautifully crafted by the Fire Giant Priestess with enchantments from Ilyana. A single mirror stood in the corner of the room with a small child’s drawing stuck to the edge. The drawing was given to her by Cara, the child from Midor, when she lived there so many years ago. But the reason the room might appear so cluttered was from the hundreds of candles, of various lengths, all around the room. Juylina thought it was beautifully decorated and that is all that mattered, well as long as Ilyana thought the same.

It didn’t take long before she thought of a few people to ask.

The first one she wrote to was Norran. He was a rather naïve young man, with the oddest green hair. He was rather new around Port Royal but he seemed quite eager to help anyone.
The next letter was addressed to Jubie, the dwarf who was a great help during the troubles in the temple. Surely, he’d help again.
Connavar was the next person she wrote too. He had disrespected Ilyana with his rudeness and he still owed Juylina for the great deal she gave him a few months ago.
Cain was another who was indebted to Ilyana. There wasn’t going to be much choice for him to come.
And last but not least, she addressed the final letter to Gasher. She knew it was going to be a long shot, but she could always try.

With the five letters in hand, she tightened up her robe and slipped on her sandals. Four of the letters were tacked to the bulletin board in Port Royal, while the last one addressed to Gasher was given to the captain of the ship headed for Ferein.

With her business in town finished, she went back to her room to get ready for her daily bath.

To Guard a Temple – The Present

The days were quickly counting down to the confrontation. It saddened Juylina to not be with Ilyana, but her high priestess had a more important job for her – she had to guard the Temple.

Juylina spent most of the day on herself, doing the thing she loved so much about Port Royal - dress shopping. She went into her favorite dress store in town and sighed loudly while looking at one of the newest arrivals, a beautiful green dress from Ferein, “It’s the entire wrong colour,” her annoyance continues as she rolls her eyes. “I said I want red, RED! I don’t give you thousands of gold a month for this! Do I look like an elf? How do you expect green to go with this hair – these eyes!” She tosses the dress back at the woman, “Get out of my sight and you better have red when I come back!” That was all she could take of the worthless help and the jealous eyes of the models – at least until her next visit.

By the time she had got back into her room, she had calmed down quite a bit. It was time to get ready for her trip to the Temple and that always put her in a good mood. She spent quite a bit of time on herself. First, her hair had to be perfect. Red - naturally red – it was certainly a gift from Naruth herself. Perfecting her hair would be the first step to showing Ilyana her complete devotion to Naruth. Almost strand by strand, she went though her hair putting it in its correct place.

When she finally decided her hair was great, she moved onto her face. She didn’t like wearing too much makeup – she wasn’t a street prostitute like Candy after all – but adding a bit of colour to her cheeks, lips and eyes would only make her closer to the perfection of female beauty.

The last thing she had to do was strap on her armour. Piece by piece, she strapped on the plate until it was perfect. Looking good in plate mail is not something that most people can pull off, but Juylina had done a lot of work on her armour. A wide smile was her only reaction as she turned around in front of the mirror.

By the time she was ready to leave, it was already late in the day. She grabbed her sword and bag and then hurried off to the docks to catch the last ship across the sea. The trip across the sea and to the Volcano was quite uneventful.

Even with the mephits, something about the Volcano seemed empty. The emptiness brought quite a chill to Juylina – and at that moment, she had a feeling of deja-vu. Her recent dreams just flooded back, “Ilyana..?” she called out with a slightly shaky voice.

The thought of her dreams becoming a reality was too hard to believe, so she pushed on into the Volcano, “She probably just left already…”

To Guard a Temple – Part II – The Present

All that could be heard in the Volcano was the flapping of the mephits wings and the gurgling of the magma when Juylina’s call to Ilyana echoed though the vast emptiness. She slowly approached the entrance to Fiirhallen, looking back from time to time. It was all so creepy to her – it was just too similar to her dream.

As she reached the entrance, her eyes widened – The Frost Giants! The army was there. Quickly, she went for her sword but as she readied it in front of her, the giants were gone. “Show yourself cowards! Scared to take on a single priestess?” Through her increasing fear, she struggled out her cocky grin that she’s so fond of showing. “That’s enough of these tricks!” Juylina recklessly started swing her sword toward the direction she saw the giants. After a few seconds of only hitting the air, she dropped her sword to the ground. A single tear streamed down her left cheek, “No…” she sobbed out. “Please stop this…” she couldn’t contain herself as she collapsed on the ground and passed out.

The Temple – Part III – The Possible Future?

((I hate ooc notes like this in IC posts but, keep in mind that this is just a dream and not something that has/is going to happen, also it is me speaking for Ilyana but it has been cleared with Sol. Most likely Ilyana would never act like this, but they are just fears of Juylina – Thanks for understanding.))

Juylina took a few quick breaths of air, before she made up her mind and dropped her sword. She brushed a few strands of hair away from Ilyana’s face and began her pray to Naruth. Sister of the Flame, hear my calling. Give life back to your Priestess! Let her blood boil with your fury once again! Within seconds, flames engulfed Ilyana’s entire body and she gasped her first breath of air.

“Juylina? Is that you?” she said softly as the flames were still raging.

“It is, but quiet for now. Wait until your strength is back.”

Ilyana nodded very slightly as she remained quiet for a next few minutes while she absorbed the flames, giving her life and full strength once again. Ilyana quickly got back up to her feet, with the strength and grace that she always carries with herself.

“Ilyana…? What happened to you? Who could have done this?”

She gave an enchanting smile back to Juylina, “Now why don’t you just let me deal with that. But you made an interesting choice.”

The strength of Juylina’s voice began to falter a bit, “What do you mean Priestess?”

The smile on Ilyana’s face grew, “Why, bringing me back to life of course.” She looked around the Fiirhallen for a second, “This could have all been yours.”

“But Priestess ---“

“Silence! You’re too weak to be in my position. You had a chance to finish me.” She took Juylina’s sword from the ground and tossed it into the magma. “Now what are you going to do?” A look of horror shot over Juylina’s face and tears began to stream down both cheeks. “Pathetic! That’s what you are. To much of a human!”

Juylina could hear heavy breathing from behind. She glanced back quickly to see Muga, Dante, Malakahi and Azrael. The four winged creatures started to move towards Juylina while Ilyana approached slowly. She was trapped – Muga and the other men were right behind her. With one quick motion, Ilyana grabbed Juylina’s ankle and hung her over the magma. “I’m sorry Juylina, but weakling humans have no place here.”

“But Priestess…Ilyana…Please,” she struggled to get out though her crying.

Ilyana just smiled back at Juylina and shot her hand towards the terrified woman’s heart.

To Guard a Temple – Part III – The Present

While she was unconscious, a passing juvenile red dragon noticed the priestess. He slowly crawled over, thinking it was just an ignorant non-follower who had been killed trying to raid the temple. As the small dragon moved closer to her, he finally noticed that it was Juylina laying on the ground. The dragon reached down towards Juylina’s ankle and gave her a light shake but she still did not wake up. However, she did begin to shake slightly – it seemed like the signs of a bad dream. Still determined to wake her up, he moved closer, snorted some warm air into her face and tapped near her heart with his claws. “Priesssstesssss,” the dragon hissed.

It was at that moment that Juylina’s dream had ended and she woke up. Or did she? Instead of the dragoness Ilyana in her face and taping her chest, she had an actual dragon staring into her eyes. The sight of the dragon was too much for Juylina to bear and she recoiled in fear. “Please Ilyana…don’t do this,” she sobbed while curling into a ball and burying her head.

The young dragon cocked his head, “Priessstesss, you hasss bad dreamssss. Issss Gassxyenthix.”

Juylina stopped her trembling long enough to look up towards the dragon, He was right, that dragon can’t be Ilyana. “Forgive me Gass—Gassxyenthix, my head is not in the right place today,” she slid over to the nearest wall and leaded back.

Gassxyenthix followed her over towards the wall, picked up her sword on the way by and layed his head in her lap. “Priessstesss dropesss thisss.”

She gave a slight smile through her worry at the dragon, “Thank you. Tell me, when have you seen the High Priestess last?”

“Ssssshort time ago. Leavessss for Ice City. Ssssayssss you come to watch temple.” The dragon looks up for a moment with a sly toothy grin, “Not doesss much good passssed out.”

Juylina gives him a sharp glare, “I said that I am not feeling well today.” She looks off into the distance and speaks aloud, more so to herself then the dragon, “I wish she would have told me what this was about. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.”
