| 1. | Re: Elvalia and Aros Posted by Gwindor on 1/15/2004 3:44:50 PM *wipes away a tear* Excelent. You've brought life back to Aros, and the Elves of the realm. Thanks for the good read... it made me go back and dig up my original Aros/Elbereth material. Who knows, more of the content from the War and the coming of the Elves, might just resurface sometime soon.
Cheers to ya... and have fun with the RP.

| 2. | Wow... lots of familiar OLD names ;) Posted by Gwindor on 12/1/2006 9:48:55 PM Just stumbled across this site for the first time in... hmm, about three years!
I see a quite a few logins I recognize from my first nwn server ever, Lands of Lore...
Landru, definitely been a long time...
doesn't look like Chief is still around, or many others... but there's definitely a few here I recognize.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello, and that it looks like you're still fighting the good fight, living in a world of roleplay. Good stuff. ... |
| 3. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:14 AM Ok... so to find a 10/- resist belt = no good? Or finding anything above 10/- is no good?
So 5/- is the max, yeah? Just want that to be clear. |
| 4. | Armor dyes? Posted by Gwindor on 2/8/2004 11:28:32 AM Having the ability to customize your character to your liking, is 50% of the fun for a lot of people that play NWN online. Where, if not in a roleplaying world, would this be the case even moreso? Having the cloth dyes in the trading post is nice, as it helps a little. But almost every armor has at least one of the other two kinds of material, leather and metal. Changing the color of one's armor is not a world altering event, nor is it something that can give -any- unfair advantage ... |
| 5. | Re: Armor dyes? Posted by Gwindor on 2/9/2004 4:08:34 PM *laughs heartily*
Oh my. I'm not talking about an earth shattering system here Aria. I'm just wondering about -basic- colors for all types of armor. metal, leather and cloth. It seems more than slightly odd that -every- cloth dye is available. Yet for purchase, I've yet to see a single leather or metal dye, aside from those other PC's have obtained through various tedious means. The midor works smith/merchant couldn't sell basic metal dyes? On the same note, some peddler of ... |
| 6. | Re: Armor dyes? Posted by Gwindor on 2/10/2004 2:54:51 PM Come to find out that leather is in :D With luck I'll stumble across metal dyes soon too! Woot. |
| 7. | The Lost Ones Posted by Gwindor on 2/5/2004 4:14:37 PM *It was long after dark when the wagon driver finished his last trip from Port Royale, walking with a weary step through the gates of Midor. He had poured over the pages time and again throughout the day, having been afforded many opportunities to read them since the strange traveler had burdened him with them. Holding aloft his lantern, the Dwarf walked through the streets of Midor looking for anyone who might be able to help him unload this journal of loose pages. Stopping a moment to ... |
| 8. | Re: The Lost Ones Posted by Gwindor on 2/5/2004 4:15:11 PM *Looking over the stack of papers delivered that morning, the Head librarian settled into his chair to begin reading the countless pages of script contained within them. The reading went by quickly though, for the pages were of an even hand, in a flowing script that did not strain the eyes.
Rising from his chair after seemingly endless reading, the librarian placed the pages in a neat stack on the corner of his desk, where they would be bound for shelving. Two pages were left in ... |

"The day has gone on much as all the rest, in this the 100th year of this forsaken war; Orc raiding parties diving through our lines, arrows as black as the night sky rained down on our camp with little respite. Our mages long since destroyed, we have little aside from my remaining druids to defense the magic of their Shamans. Neither Aros nor Grunjak, the ... |
| 10. | Re: The Lost Ones Posted by Gwindor on 2/5/2004 6:15:56 PM The coming of Elbereth and Aros, and the betrayal at the War of 100 Years. From the journal of Ea’dalen Belethil, Holy Warrior of Aros.
--It has been nearly a year since we set out from camp to flank the enemy. Grunjak’s forces are relentless of their scouting to the east and west, so our progress has been much slower than anticipated. Yet the day has finally come that we find ourselves in position in rear of the dreaded Orc army. I would have protested the order to bring ... |

Finally making his way to the market square, any who happen past the odd looking man can't help but notice the words on the note so neatly hanging from his back*......

| 13. | Re: SOU Expansion Pack Posted by Gwindor on 6/6/2003 9:16:01 AM *waves in from his moments of being busy*...
On that thought... will those with the expansion be able to play on the mod if we do not choose to implement it? I'm a bit in the dark on the whole of the expansion, so forgive me if it's an elementary question. |
| 14. | Re: ModUpdate: Death & Bleeding Posted by Gwindor on 5/20/2003 10:56:40 AM In most bleeding/dying systems there is a % chance each round that your character "stabilizes" on his own...meaning the HP drop stops, as your character has somehow managed to stop the bleeding on his own. This is simply not an option in this setup, that is all. when you are reduced to 0 HP, you will (as aria described) slowly be reduced to -10 HP. In the meantime, party members can 'raise' you by using heal packs or healing spells, which would raise you back above 0 HP. However, ... |
| 15. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:16 AM Sion,
What to say, what to say. It's been an interesting month or so, that much I know to be true. Not too long ago I almost left Vives behind over a discussion that got very heated, and in which I got assaulted a bit. I took offense, and almost made a mistake in walking away for good. I'm happy that I didn't, and my relationship with that insensitive asshole got better after I returned, and we've come to RP together a lot of late, and even share witty OOC remarks via tells on ... |
| 16. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM all I can offer to you is this.. you've never partied with Finfalin in a dungeon, cave, forest, anywhere. He insisted on being first everywhere to scout. Almost came to blows with Ulfjarl for raging ahead and bringing the fury of monsters down upon them. I'm ok with going back through transitions over and over to scout if you are. |
| 17. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM Kell: I very much agree with your sentiment on OOC chat. Let in any, more will slip in eventually.
However, my point with party chat was -not- to allow OOC chat into it. Rather, it was to say that I feel it is ok in some instances. It's when people are talking over different zones as if in casual conversation (which I've seen a number of times) that bothers me, and floods my channel. Yes, thanks Alo, I didn't even think about doing that with the chat windows.
Kell, ... |
| 18. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM I'd like to elaborate on the Party chat issue... and reiterate how annoying it is to hear that as a DM, and not know whether it is party or talk, and who it is being sent to. As such, I'd like to see players -only- use it when conversing through a transition, or when you are just out of 'talk' range.
A couple examples I see it should be used in...
Grunge: Youz go through hole Gujak Lul Ishii. See if baddies be waitings. Finfalin: *nods* wait here Beleger, I'll ... |
| 19. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM Kell:
No, this is -not- meta gaming... as 1) that tandem had been adventuring like that the whole time, not just in area transitions. The scout would be ahead, and the big lumbering fighter behind. Why should an area transition be different? Why should they -both- lumber ahead blind and be killed? and 2) Grunge is a blithering idiot. He could call his own kid a 'baddie'... or a dog, or a wolf, or himself. His inteligence is very likely a 6.. and thus, just off the charts. ... |
| 20. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM Anyone remember Baldur's Gate 2? The sorcerer ruled the day, for the exact reason of being able to curl up into a tidy little ball no matter where he was, even in the bowels of the Nine Hells.
I like the system, ESPECIALLY the timer. If the timer were not there, it would get silly. And I like the idea of monsters wandering in and interupting you if you're out in the open. It all just makes sense.
As far as resting without rations. Hmm... I can buy that... but no HP ... |
| 21. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM sorry about the double post. I got an error after trying to submit it. Wasn't sure if it went through or not.
oops. |
| 22. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM I know this limits the weapon/armorsmith very much... though all CNR skills seem to need many items.
A smith would have to choose between being able to melt the ore into ingots, or the crafting of goods with the ingots that 'somebody else' had to melt down for him. hmmm.
Just a thought I wanted to put out on the table. |
| 23. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM I like the idea of being able to resummon once you have deliberately unsummoned, with same hp. I also agree that druids have it very easy. They gain xp as fast or faster than any other class in Vives, and have the benefit of two "meatshields" by their side which have little or no meaning to them in battle, since they lose little/nothing when they die.
That's all I have for now. |
| 24. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM Well, Clerics have nearly the same advantage. Plus they wear heavy armor and can fight like a fighter to boot. Oh, spells? *chuckles* |
| 25. | [No Subject] Posted by Gwindor on 6/30/2003 12:37:15 AM Sorry for jumping in late... but here's my thoughts.
When it is 'tolerable' to have PvP unchecked... in come the idiots, without exception. "We'll just have the DM's watch them".. well, look at Lands of Lore, seriously... what were their DM's doing 90% of the time? Trying to catch assholes, pardon my french. And -why- did they spend most of their time looking to catch assholes, rather than creating RP situations? Why? Because PvP was allowed to go unchecked, with some ... |
