CNRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr
Posted: 30 Jun 2003 12:37 AM
Hello all, Aria asked me to work on CNR and especially recipes and such, though I came up with some changes in the current CNR, which I think would be good usefull and fun. I'll post my ideas here and hope u all will read em threw and tell me what u think about it. Comments, critics, the whole thing please :D .

'Sorry for my poor English'

First thing is limiting the possibilities for PC's to learn CNR skills. I was thinking about a limitation of 2 'Skilltypes' and eg. if a Skilltype has a maximum lvl of 40 also a limitation on 'Total SKillLevels of 48 (1/5 of the max lvl). PC's are able to master 1 CNR Skill and learn a little in an other one.. or learn two half way. This way we can create Specialised PC's which will increase the trading between PC's (maybe also market or even guild wise).

Secondly I've kinda re-arranged the current CNR Skills and made up some new ones. CNR Skills are now called 'Professions' in my writing. There are three types of professions::
[list:0c66e94565][b:0c66e94565]"Fun"
"Collectors"
"Constructors"[/b:0c66e94565][/list:u:0c66e94565] [/color:0c66e94565]

To start of with the
Fun type:: [/color:0c66e94565]
The name Fun is surely not well chosen but with my limited English :wink:... Anyways, with Fun Professions I mean Professions that don't really make usefull IG things. Baking [/color:0c66e94565] and Brewing [/color:0c66e94565] are the Fun Professions. Maybe Baking could end up in making rations urself or anything.. but I think for now Fun is the right category they should be put in (with all respect to the Bakers and Brewers ofcourse!!).

Collectors:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Collectors are the PC's who gather materials and resources which will be used by the Constructors. In principle everyone is a Collector as it won't take 'Skills' or 'CNR-Skill-items' to gather Owl feathers, Sand, Mushrooms(??), Flowers etc. This will be possible for every PC. The profession in the Collectors group will be that of the Hunter, Woodcutter [/color:0c66e94565] and Miner [/color:0c66e94565]. More info about these 3 will follow below.
(I have some more ideas for these, but I'll stick to these for now)

Constructors:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Constructors are the PC's who are specialised in the 'Making' of a certain type of items. Constructors are Weapon Smiths, Armor Makers, Tailors, Bowmakers, Fletchers, Potterybakers/Glassmakers (maybe these should be split), Alchemy, Jewel Makers, Tinkering, Enchanters, Scrollmakers [/color:0c66e94565]. ((not sure if missed one of the current Skills in game, and I'm also not sure if there is something like Scrollmaking in game allready?)) More information about these Profession are below.

[u:0c66e94565][b:0c66e94565]--COLLECTORS--[/b:0c66e94565][/u:0c66e94565] [/color:0c66e94565]
-Hunters:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Hunters are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Skin animals
Cut of Meat and that 'Animal fat'
Pull out Teeth and Claws[/list:u:0c66e94565]
Not sure if they should be able to do something with these raw materials aswell, like curing the Skin's and Sharpening the Claws or something.

-Woodcutters:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Woodcutters are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Cut of Branches
Skin Bast from Trees[/list:u:0c66e94565]
The Branches can be: Split[/color:0c66e94565] to make Long Staves, Sawn[/color:0c66e94565] to make Planks and Cut up[/color:0c66e94565] to make Short Staves and Logs.
[b:0c66e94565]----Logs will be needed to light fire in ovens, melters, braziers etc!!!!!----[/b:0c66e94565][/color:0c66e94565]
The Bast Skinning is something i'm still thinking about, maybe used to make Pulp, or being used for Shield making.

-Miners:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Miners are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Mine Ore's
Mine Gems[/list:u:0c66e94565]
Miners should also be able to melt ore's into ingots (that's still the case in CNR right!?).

[b:0c66e94565][u:0c66e94565]--CONSTRUCTORS--[/u:0c66e94565][/b:0c66e94565] [/color:0c66e94565]
-Weapons Smiths:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Weapon Smiths are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Make weapons out of ingots[/list:u:0c66e94565]
So not really all the fancy magic weapons, just plain smithing/hammering and some + weapons.
Smiths can melt Ore's also.
*They will need: Ore's/Ingots + Logs to fire up the Smelting Oven.[/color:0c66e94565]

-Armor Makers:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Armor Makers are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Make Armors of all sorts
Shields
Helmets[/list:u:0c66e94565]
Armor Makers are able to smelt Ore's
*They will need: Ore's/Ingots + Logs for Smelting Oven + all things needed for armor making (sorry not sure what that all should be) + Planks and or Bast for Shields.[/color:0c66e94565]

-Tailors:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Tailors are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Make Clothing
Make Cloaks
Make Belts
Make Bags[/list:u:0c66e94565]
Tailors should be able to cure and tan(?) Hides.
*They need Hides + Sewing Kits + Patrons + Dye's (and anything else i forgot).[/color:0c66e94565]

-Bowmakers:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Bowmakers are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Make Bows[/list:u:0c66e94565]
They can make all the bows both crossbow and normal type.
*They will need Wooden Long Staves + Bow String (maybe some other things).[/color:0c66e94565]

-Arrow Makers /Fletchers:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Arrow Makers are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Arrows
Bolts[/list:u:0c66e94565]
I've split the arrow and bow making as i think it are 2 completely different Professions.
*They will need Wooden Short Staves + Arrow Heads + Feathers (and some stuff i forgot).[/color:0c66e94565]

-Pottery Bakers/Glassmakers:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Pottery Bakers/Glasmakers are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Make Pots
Make Jars
Make Glass Bottle's[/list:u:0c66e94565]
Maybe this skill should be split, but i guess it could be one Profession
*They will need Mud + Sand + Molds + Logs to fire up the Baking Oven.
(Pots/jars will be needed to store certain ingredients in, like powders, salt etc, glass bottle's are for juice and liquid ingredients).[/color:0c66e94565]

-Alchemists:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Alchemists are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Make Potions
Make Oils
??? Can Alchemists make more allready?![/list:u:0c66e94565]
Alchemists are able to Crush Gems.
*They will need the right ingredients for their potions/oils + Glass Bottles + Jars/Pots.[/color:0c66e94565]

-Jewel Makers:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Jewel Makers are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Make Rings
Make Amulets
Making Magic Staffs and Rods???[/list:u:0c66e94565]
Dunno if this is allready changed,.. but i don't think Jewel Makers would be able to make these magic devices, though I haven't come up with anything better.. ideas anyone?
Jewel Makers WONT be able to smelt ore's, but are able to Cut/Crush Gems.
*They will need Rough Gems + Ingots + Molds..[/color:0c66e94565]

-Tinkerers:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Tinkerers are able to; (if this is all correct)
[list:0c66e94565]Make Tools for other Professions
Make Traps
'Special Items'[/list:u:0c66e94565]
Special items like Copper Wire, Springs etc.
Tinkerers won't be able to Smelt Ore's or Cut/Crush Gems.
*They will need Gems + Ingots + Wood + alot of other resources.[/color:0c66e94565]

-Enchanters:: [/color:0c66e94565]
Enchanters are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Add 'Magics' to objects[/list:u:0c66e94565]
Enchanters can't Smelt Ore's or Cut/Crush Gems.
I do think this should be a special Profession, but I'm not completely sure how it should be done, as enchanting is just adding materials made by others together. Maybe something Enchanter Only spells could be involved??
As else the Enchanter Skill wouldn't be much fun I guess..

-Scrollmakers:: [/color:0c66e94565] (not sure if anything like this is in allready, or should be in)
Scrollmakers are able to;
[list:0c66e94565]Make Magic Scrolls
Make Scrolls usable for Writing
Translate text's[/list:u:0c66e94565]
*They should need Bast Pulp + Hides to make paper + Inq + 'certain Magics'[/color:0c66e94565]

Think this is about it. Please let me know what you all think and add comments as i'm not familiar with all CNR SKills yet.

Greetings

I know this limits the weapon/armorsmith very much... though all CNR skills seem to need many items.

A smith would have to choose between being able to melt the ore into ingots, or the crafting of goods with the ingots that 'somebody else' had to melt down for him. hmmm.

Just a thought I wanted to put out on the table.

so u mean a "Smelter" and an actual "Smith".

What could be done is that Miners are the only ones that could smelt ores.. (as a "smelter-only profession" seems a bit boring to me) and the Weapon Smiths are the only ones who can make weapons out of the ingots.
