| 1. | Re: Stats for Dummies: The 10 most casted spells in Vives Posted by ertzi on 3/9/2006 5:53:55 AM No kidding.
Thank god I had played NWN so much before that I knew to dread the stag beetles when I first ventured in that cave in my low levels ;)
I saw the name of the creature before it saw me, shrieked like a girl and ran out. Hey, at least I survived. Still, it didn't prevent me from almost dying when I went back in, confident that my new levels would decimate the beetles. -> some shrieking-like-a-girldness ensued and I ran back out again. Darn, they are tough. |
| 2. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by ertzi on 2/10/2006 5:16:53 PM I should have done this a long time ago, but I want to give a big shoutout for Tigrelily (Telli).
Thanks for always being a nice companion and, most of all, a fun player to adventure with. Heck, you are fun to even talk with. And thanks for 'distracting' things so I can hit them, and picking up my weapons when they are flying through the air while I'm running away.
Thanks for another fun trip to some dangerous places today and sorry you had to pay the ultimate price, ... |
| 3. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by ertzi on 1/12/2006 11:25:42 AM And I must now continue with the same thought. Thanks for both Oragastus and Dana for some hilarious dialogue, I always love to play with the more goofy characters! I wish you luck with your horse urine stew and eye patch/sling endeavours. Laughed out loud on occasions.
And an additional thanks to Oragastus for a fun trip through the desert, would have loved to continue it a bit further. I wouldn't mind RPing with you guys every day. |

| 5. | Re: The State of PW's and Their Evolution Posted by ertzi on 11/13/2006 12:09:41 PM I for one couldn't care less about the size of Vives2. When it's playable, I will be there faster than a hasted quickling, and not for the areas (which I'm sure will be magnificent in their own right, right?) but for the unique playing community and experience. I'm currently learning the ins and outs of NWN2 so I'm ready when the ultimate PW is once again ripe for playing. That's the only reason I've cut down on Vives1, but I'll maintain some form of presence there as well, until the end. I'm ... |
| 6. | Re: Welcome New Folks! Posted by ertzi on 12/2/2005 6:06:37 AM *Courteous bow to all who view this*
Good day to you all! I have been playing Vives for several days now and I have been itching to post my first message here, but unfortunately for some reason I wasn't able to do so... until now.
First of all: I love Vives. Love the concept, love the players, love the moderators, love the atmosphere, love... well, you get the idea :)
I am so glad that there is an alternative for those who don't enjoy playing mindless fast-paced ... |
| 7. | A weird hobby in Vives Posted by ertzi on 2/12/2006 7:29:22 AM Standard OOC disclaimer: This is knowledge that only ALL who ever speak to Cerno should know, so RP accordingly. (sorry, couldn't resist)
I have this obsession that some people might call odd, but however much you want to roar or rampage about it, this gives me plenty satisfaction.
I'm constantly trying to add movie quotes into my dialogue. It's fun to try to find ways to do that. The hard part of course is that they must be appropriate in the situation and not look weird ... |
| 8. | Re: D&D Gone bad Posted by ertzi on 2/5/2006 5:58:45 AM OMG, that was hilarious.
Fortunately I have never played with that sort of people either, usually the players have been from the other end of the spectrum where they talk about movies while others are trying to immerse even a little, and sit back with no RP and wait till there's a battle... Argghh! Hate those.
I have to send that to my resident DM though, he's the closest one I can find. Priceless... |
| 9. | Re: Beverage of choice? Posted by ertzi on 1/21/2006 8:07:45 AM When thirsty: Water, hands down.
When trying to stay awake while playing Vives: 1. Coffee 2. Jolt Cola, preferably both.
When having a nice evening with friends: Certain gin-based long drink.
When going all out at someone's party: 1. Rum and coke 2. I actually try different blends of spirits and lemonade/juices almost every time, never any "real" drinks though. Usually after a couple of those rum and cokes.
What I hate: Whiskey, Tequila, ... |
| 10. | Re: **** DM EVENT: And the gate opens.... Posted by ertzi on 1/14/2006 5:08:42 PM Next time, maybe limit the number of participants? So far, this has been just painful, not fun. Maybe it'll pick up (I'm writing this after a crash in the first cave in Inner Ferein). |
| 11. | Re: **** DM EVENT: And the gate opens.... Posted by ertzi on 1/15/2006 6:46:18 PM
As for the point about splitting and running events at varios times, yes - it's possible. Not ideal certainly since those who have 'already done the job' may be prone to speak of it with those who haven't, but it's something I will try to bear in mind.
Obviously this creates some OOC issues since some will know what happened, I'll ask those to be understanding and speak of it as little as possible. Thanks
Great idea, IMHO. I would ... |
| 12. | Shopkeepers' mood swings Posted by ertzi on 1/12/2006 1:51:30 PM I have encountered the following annoying thing: When I sell some stuff to a favorable shopkeeper, or buy something from her, the next time I meet her she doesn't like me anymore. This happens all the time, even though my ability scores, equipment and appraisal skills haven't changed at all.
What annoys me, is that I haven't found any logic to this, not yet at least. I was hoping that somebody could tell me what is causing this and if this is normal? I have tried to visit the ... |
| 13. | Re: New IG items Posted by ertzi on 12/29/2005 5:54:19 AM SCYTHES, man, SCYTHES.
You don't even have to make a keen one, even though I would gladly trade my whole inventory for one :D
Just something else than plain +1, +2 and +3 would be enough, so I can have the tingling feeling of discovering something different. I haven't seen a one weird scythe yet.
Oh, and I concur with the belts as well, need more o' dem. |
| 14. | Re: New IG items Posted by ertzi on 12/29/2005 3:30:03 PM "Actually, to me, scythe's = PGer, so you'll never see me make one.
I'm not saying you're one, I'm just giving the reason why I'll never make one for anyone"
Fair enough. I don't consider myself a powergamer, my character's farmer-background just made the choice easy for me. I also wanted to take something different than the more safe approach of using a shield and keen katana/scimitar/longsword. I haven't seen too many exotic weapon-wielders IG yet, but maybe ... |
| 15. | Looking for interesting scythes Posted by ertzi on 1/3/2006 6:08:39 AM ( A single, simple, yet elegant note, tied to somewhere visible at Buckshire Trading Post)
My first ever weapon was a scythe. It was a thing of necessity at the time, but I have later on come to love this - somewhat cumbersome - tool. I say tool because I use them both in battle and harvest.
That being written, I have done quite a bit of exploring during my days as an adventurer of sorts, but I have never seen any magical or otherwise interesting scythes on my travels, ... |
| 16. | Re: Terra's Guide to Armor Class and Stacking Posted by ertzi on 12/31/2005 9:42:14 AM I agree with Time4Bed and Solitaire. I for myself try to know as much about the game mechanics as I can AND at the same time constantly strive to be a better RPer.
I don't understand why weak build -> must be a better RPer. I want to make a good character in both RP and somewhat in build as well, but maybe that is a sin.
Of course, if people ONLY powergame, that cannot be tolerated. But if they RP and happen to be effective as well, is that so bad? I will make my next ... |
| 17. | Re: Lag deaths Posted by ertzi on 12/31/2005 10:44:16 AM *laughs* Priceless...
I was a bit tired when I posted that, had been playing through the night.
I'm not too crazy, honest I'm not *grins* |
| 18. | Re: Lag deaths Posted by ertzi on 12/31/2005 10:45:53 AM
Edit -> Let's remove the other one...
Oh dear, I am crazy am I? Nah! Just like I should be *sips some more booze* Gwahahaha!
|
| 19. | Lag deaths Posted by ertzi on 12/30/2005 7:27:10 PM After experiencing my first true lag death, I just want to say that....... I love them!! I embrace them with all my heart *mad laughter*. Bring it on! Is that the best you can do? Huh, is it? I don't want any exp or money back, in fact I would refuse to take them. You have to invent something much more terrible to keep me from playing in Vives. *maniacal laughter echoes into the distance*
No, really, don't whine about lag deaths, it happens from time to time. So you lose some exp and ... |
| 20. | Re: Treetops, those annoying green obstacles Posted by ertzi on 12/29/2005 3:42:45 PM Aye, valid points all. You've convinced me, more trees! |
| 21. | Treetops, those annoying green obstacles Posted by ertzi on 12/28/2005 5:13:58 PM Is there any button to turn off the treetops in Vives? I enjoy a good scenery as much as any person, but sometimes the treetops are just extremely annoying.
Now, those pesky leaves are of no concern to me, until some big, doubtless magic-wielding, nastiness is running after me and lobbing all kinds of groovy many-colored spells at me. That is, when I'm running away. I have almost been killed many times because I haven't seen where I was going because of the treetops. Yes, I can ... |
| 22. | Re: Treetops, those annoying green obstacles Posted by ertzi on 12/29/2005 5:37:18 AM Yes, that is exactly what I do as well. This works well to see what's near you, but it doesn't give you a good range of vision to see further objects, thus leading me into roadblock situations once in a while.
But, if it's a fact that the trees can't be "erased", I can live with it. I shouldn't complain anyway, as I haven't died yet DIRECTLY because of that. Thanks for the input everyone. |
| 23. | Re: Chuck Norris Posted by ertzi on 12/17/2005 12:04:45 PM Hilarious stuff :D :D Thanks.
I am a martial artist and a scholar of martial arts movies, and it has to be said that, in his time Chuck Norris was nigh undefeatable, at least in Karate circles, and generally one of the baddest dudes in existence. Too bad that he has gained sort of a goofy status now that Conan O'Brien uses him in his Walker-jokes (but they are hilarious too, I have to admit). Here's some tid bit info about the man:
In 1968 he became the Professional ... |
| 24. | Re: Chuck Norris Posted by ertzi on 12/18/2005 11:11:35 AM I'm also the first one to agree that the man can't act very good. In addition, I think that people nowadays in Hollywood ALWAYS think that, if they are good at something, how hard can it be to excel in some other area too. I don't like it.
No more model/singer/actors please. Some rare people have pulled it off, but come on, stick to what you are good at and we are all happier. I mean, just watch the movie Glitter with Mariah Carey. Nuff said. |
