| 1. | Re: Importent! - HoTU's PrCs! Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/6/2004 4:17:48 AM Secondly, I still think that regulating who gets to be what class is a little unnecessary, especially with regard to prestige classes. First off, everyone who's been allowed to play on the server has submitted a registration and has given permission. Second, you can't play a prestige class until (effectively) sixth level. Only people with determination who (we assume) deserve it are going to get that far and earn their class. Unless the DMs want confirmation of your ... |

| 3. | Re: Weekend Update Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/12/2004 3:08:03 AM Great idea!
Hope rent is reasonable! That will be nice dumping off some of the equipment I find but can't yet wear. Too heavy for my poor rogue. |

And I've only got a lvl 10 on the server. *laugh*
Maybe if the place was filled with lvl 20s running around PKing randomly it would make good sense from a player perspective. Since this isn't the case, this idea must be one of those good ideas from a management perspective. Any player that wants to start over again at level 1 just needs to hit new...

| 5. | Re: too much xp Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/20/2004 6:10:05 PM I just noticed this post. Wrathofgods has but 7 posts here. I think he either plays too much to post or decided Vives is too hard once you get past level 5 and quit :). You can knock out level 5 in a few hours, after that exponential time accrues logarithmic gains. (do I get a dollar for using those big words?)
I'd have to say I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. With the added epic level support and all the interesting monsters to kill and PrCs to explore I prefer a more ... |
| 6. | Re: Brandibuck shop Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/21/2004 3:15:52 AM I found that out the hard way.
I didn't realize how far out the elec trap would reach out and touch you and when the guy I was running from zapped a trap, it snagged me and took me down.
Now, if you got exp for traps, would I have gotten credit for killing myself? *grin* |
| 7. | Re: Brandibuck shop Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/19/2004 5:46:36 PM I had a discussion with, I believe Fenarisk in IRC. He told me not only do you not overcome the crit hit limitation (I can verify that they are still quite immune to critical hits) you don't even get a damage bonus. The only gamesmanship plus is taunt. Bleh. I never taunt. Sure, from an RP perspective UD is great, but I could still RP hating UD without being a dumb-a$ and picking them as a favored enemy *laugh* |
| 8. | Re: Brandibuck shop Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/20/2004 3:02:44 AM Ahh, you're right Pugs it was you. I've got Fenarisk on the brain (ref RP post).
Thanks for clearing that up. |
| 9. | Brandibuck shop Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/19/2004 5:16:38 PM Is this just part of the HoTU shop problems or was this done with a reason in-mind.
The Brandibuck Inn no longer has rations in his inventory. In addition, the avg. electrical trap that used to cost me 1gp now costs 3600. Several other avg traps didn't cost quite so much, but still enough that they were probitively expensive.
I already don't get exp for using traps, I can't harvest them since disarm trap is not a ranger skill and all the trap DCs in Vives make it ... |
| 10. | Re: Fog of war Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/20/2004 5:50:31 PM I've seen this brought up before on the Bioware forums. Max ranged sneak attack is about half a screen away. I was led to believe this was a balance issue. Imagine a rogue/sd at a full screen length sneak attacking, calling shots to the legs, then HiPS. brutal. |
| 11. | Re: The most rogue-centric world ever Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/20/2004 3:03:43 AM I'm east coast +14, tried it :). |
| 12. | Re: The most rogue-centric world ever Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/19/2004 10:39:53 PM Perhaps DM'd stuff is 1000 times more fun. I'm in the situation where time zones prevent me from playing when most people play. Good chance that is a major cause of several of the issues I'm having. On the weekends I can usually find some help, but during the week its usually me and 1 or 2 others on at a time. |
| 13. | Re: The most rogue-centric world ever Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/19/2004 5:08:04 PM I actually see the points of everyone who replied to this.
Let me phrase my question in a different way.
Is there a quest/area that REQUIRES the use of a *insert ANY class besides a rogue*. I understand you're trying to make the rogue more useful, but the class isn't so weak that it needs anybody's help. Between nonregressing xp for lock picks, to a zillion skill points, use magic device and tumble as class skills, and massive sneak attack damage, the rogue is just fine ... |
| 14. | The most rogue-centric world ever Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/19/2004 8:13:20 AM Is it just me, or is this getting a little crazy here? What's the big thing with traps that automatically reset and locked doors that can't be bashed?
If you want to do any of these quests, you need a rogue with reasonable lockpick:

| 15. | Help me help Ellea Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/19/2004 5:43:16 PM When I first arrived at the abode of the 7 sisters, I learned the plight of the poor girl Ellea. New to the area I thought there was little I could do and thought little of it.
As the seasons changed and my knowledge of the local area expanded, I ran into a botique owner who also had an interest in the well-being of Ellea. This piqued my interest and I set off on what has become a long journey in trying to cure this girl of her self-inflicted woes.
I am now near the end ... |
| 16. | Re: Help me help Ellea Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/19/2004 10:44:51 PM Awww, c'mon. I want to see the flame.
Seriously though, as for in-game not in-game, I just read a post titled "noob crafting" or some such title and the suggestion was made to bring it to the RP forum IC.

| 18. | Re: Trapping Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/10/2004 7:24:29 PM A few issues.
First, somebody brought up animal empathy. Less than worthless skill. The animals you charm will not engage in combat unless they happen to naturally be aggro to whatever you happen to walk past, they will not come to your aid. What makes it worse is they split your exp and walk over traps so they are in fact a detriment.
2nd, who was whining? I asking a question about setting traps and how that fits into the big scheme of earning exp. Think about it, I ... |
| 19. | Re: Trapping Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/10/2004 9:18:29 PM I think Ruldain was commenting on the flavor of the thread (and others) in it's entirity, and I think Beornagain answered the question adequately without insulting anyone.
Your traps did not measurably harm Loli this morning, but a string of traps like that in the pathway could have killed many weaker players. With Kusin dead, the path you trapped was the only way back to Midor/Paws from Port Royale. She doesn't know it was you that set them, but I do ... |
| 20. | Re: Trapping Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/11/2004 8:56:46 AM *shrug*
If that's the case then you owe me for 6 new traps! What if I'd actually needed those traps to defend myself? From my perspective, ignorantly triggering my carefully laid defenses is a perfectly valid attempt on the life of Blaise...
FYI I start my adventures with the traps in a specific spot in my inventory. I certainly didn't have a hole missing 6 traps (2x2 squares each) I think we might be exaggerating just a bit.
I apologized once and won't ... |
| 21. | Trapping Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/10/2004 5:25:26 AM First off, thanks for fixing whatever trapping bug was affecting my Ranger. Whether you did something or not, he doesn't have a negative trying to set traps anymore. Go figure.
I've noticed a problem when I fight using traps. I don't gain any exp when I set the trap, and if its the trap that finishes off a baddie and not my blade, I don't get exp for the kill either. Is there a way you could tie the trap to the person who set it in order to award combat experience?
As ... |
| 22. | Re: Area Transitions Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/13/2004 7:14:00 AM I just had my first crash on an area transition.
[edit] Hmm, seems the entire game either crashed or reset on its own. I had a 5 minute warning shortly before the area transition/crash. Who knows what really happened. [edit] no, was able to log back on. odd. some tron just got mad at me i suppose. |
| 23. | Re: Area Transitions Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/13/2004 5:39:49 PM Lag?

| 24. | Re: if not a Ranger, then who? Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/7/2004 5:29:47 PM Upon my most recent level-up, I saw the modifier was indeed 100% for exploration. Thanks a bunch!

| 25. | if not a Ranger, then who? Posted by Viper Pilot on 1/3/2004 7:07:45 PM Quick question.
When I levelled my ranger last night, I got the text message showing me his various % modifiers for differing tasks.
These numbers aren't necessarily exact, but I think it was like Quests 100% Combat 80% Discovery 70% Magic 25% Crafting 50%
The question is, if a Ranger does not get 100% for discovery, who does? Seems to me this would be a ranger's bread and butter.
On a small aside, shouldn't a ranger get ... |
