| 3. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 3/4/2008 8:51:45 PM Big shout out to the Vives community in general (the best on the net). Much love yall. Hope all is well, and hope to game with ya soon. |
| 4. | Re: Favorite Vives moments? Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 1/27/2010 1:17:27 AM Favorite vives moments ... ?
Thats hard to say. Real hard... It's a safe bet my top 1000 role playing moments came in vives, from both player and DM perspective. Many many excellent roleplayers and even more great characters and moments and storylines.
If forced to pick I'd have to go with a generalized answer. My favorite Vives moments came from spur of the moment interaction with the dm client. The little things that just made folks appreciate the living breathing ... |
| 5. | Re: Favorite Vives moments? Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/16/2013 5:01:36 AM Ah the emperor !! that was funny stuff. Despite the generally serious nature of Vives there were -a lot- of funny moments. I received some strange looks from people in the room with me when I'd bust out laughing. |
| 6. | Re: How it all started. Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/22/2013 7:36:05 AM That's when NWN began to be something special for me. At first NWN was the single player stuff and lands of lore.... While I met some good folks on lands of lore it was basically one large grief fest. If that is all I ever experienced NWN would have been shelved quickly. I would have bought the expansions, I would have enjoyed HotU then it would have sat idly until I needed disk space then been uninstalled.
Occasionally I still have nightmares about hulk redtiger and his pack of ... |
| 7. | Re: on entering new areas... Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/19/2013 3:55:49 AM I agree with a lot of these. One thing I haven't seen mentioned that I liked about vives and miss in DD is an OOC lounge to go to when you have to go afk. |
| 8. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/19/2013 2:25:22 AM My vote is Vives2 . I'd be ok with Darker Days , but you say a lot of the old bugs remain there right? If so seems that would cause more unneeded hassle. DD does have a lot of really impressive work done on it already tho.
My vote is something up persistant so I can play anytime, with my friends from across the pond to. |
| 9. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/20/2013 9:37:41 AM - make the primary source of healing HP to be other characters with healing spells. (healing kits do not heal hit points. healing potions only crafted by someone with the spell. regeneration is not found on items, resting does not return full hit points except for in certain areas)
I'm not so much a fan of that. One, if its up as a PW then non clerics cant play without others. Two, often times being a battlefield "medic" is a part of a ... |
| 10. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/20/2013 9:40:02 AM That being said , toning down healing kits to fit the magic level of the world is a completely different thing than disabling them entirely. If the problem is how much they heal after a character has poured -tons- of points into the healing skill. |
| 11. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/20/2013 10:58:33 AM Pen and paper style group play is great... around a table , or on a server that runs only for scheduled sessions. We have to ask ourselves do we want it to be a PW or something only run for gaming sessions. And if its to be PW we have to take into account the age of the game and overall lack of player base. |
| 12. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/20/2013 12:06:46 PM I agree the playstyles are not mutually exclusive. I just fear that if we go too far the pen and paper party style it will prevent those who don't get to play at the popular gaming times from being able to enjoy theirselves / explore the world (within reason of course) / and develop their characters within the living, breathing world. (areas and npcs even if no other pcs are on).
That said I acknowledge you have a better understanding of the current NWN community considering you ... |
| 13. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/20/2013 12:30:09 PM The accommodating as many play styles as possible is something Vives did extraordinarily well, as you said, without compromising the over all role play is foremost and the world is dangerous so party up ideals.
If it's going to be a PW I strongly believe it has to also accommodate solo play from all classes within reason. The earlier ideas of flagging a pc as only on during dm event is fine, even great, as long as the player also can have "solo and spur of the moment group ... |

| 16. | Re: DMs: Maldovia Victims Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 4/29/2020 4:42:38 AM This was the first major plot I ran, and it happened completely by accident. This shows how these things typically grow organically and snowball beyond all control. It started as a one-off event chasing players who had gone to Maldovia without a plan. It ended up as a server-wide event that ran several months long, ending in the 2005 Halloween event (Blood and Nightmares) and adding some new permanent lore and content (maps, characters) to the world.
You can ... |

Gasher's writing this one up now.
Appearance: Maldovian Vampiress, with Midoran priest robes
* Maria is Vansane's daughter. * She has a habit of calling Connavar her "pet" * She has bitten Conn to feed on him, but not to turn him * Maria seeks to make Vansane jealous (more on her motivations forthcoming)
The one with the priestess robes is gonna be Valoria Dedriech. The ... |
| 18. | Re: DM: Discovery of Dulzen Rien Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 2/14/2005 2:40:06 PM Ok this chunk of the tablet has been reclaimed. This was done yesterday in game. Big thanks to Benny for making it happen.
Afterwards the group was talking (Johe, vinduis (or whatever the name is), claudia, balthor , tolith and a few others) and the discussion led to the search for an elder named Nurha Gaarhah. ("Lore Keeper" in dwarven). This will be the one who can translate the tablet chunk (or chunks if they find more before they find him.).
There is a ... |
| 19. | Re: DM: Discovery of Dulzen Rien Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 2/15/2005 5:18:39 PM According to Coruvas writings not all the dwarves left the Dulzein Rein. There was a split. Those believing their destiny lay closer to the surface forged ahead with the prophets. Many others stayed behind. Is what I gathered from it.
However since the tablet was written in a lost dwarven dialect id wager those who have lived there still would speak said dialect. Which would involve creating another language. Sounds like a big ole load o work.
Considering that, it ... |

| 24. | Re: DMs: Halloween 2005 Posted by Gasher_Bloodspuer on 7/18/2005 4:24:28 AM Final version: I don't like either of those, they're both rather silly. The Bridge, therefore, was constructed by the people of Maldovia. It took many years for Maldovia to become a flourishing community. The bridge was an early project, constructed under Valinor's orders, and it took them years to build. The Syncursed waited all those years to strike, gathering their forces and waiting until the construction was complete. By night, they even helped with the ... |
