Just a little note...
Jet, my daywalker Syn-rogue vampiress bit Trent today. She's just playing with him, she didn't turn him. But, he does now have bite marks on his neck, and probably won't feel so great for the next couple of days. ;)

Re: DMs: Trent Posted: 26 Jan 2005 02:43 PM |
Hey Pdawg, why don't we give Trent a little boost in confidence for his paladinness? Can you give him an opprotunity to do something "good" today? It can be as simple as helping an orphan (perhaps a child in similar situations he was in as a child.)
This is a start. It can be escalated later by having that same child wander off to the Midor Crypts in the hopes of emulating his new hero, the paladin Trent. Trent can then rescue the child, and maybe finally get some self worth.
Doable?

Is that rouge as in an earthy red? or rouge as in rogue?
;)

*laughs*
She's a Rog/SD. She's not really in the Syn heirachy, having pretty much gone off on her own after she became a daywalker. That said, she isn't an enemy to the Syn vampires either. Mostly she contents herself with 1/ Eating and 2/ Scaring Trent, who is her favorite toy.

I just want to make sure that there is that possiblity. One thing absolutly despise about CPC's is their precieved invunerability. Characters do not have to know that the CPC or NPC is has a weakness or is killable, but it is vital that we as DM's keep that option open.
If, for example, Trent gathers a large party and killed off this CPC right proper, I would hope she'd stay dead for a dramaticly sufficient period.

well wait a second, does that mean she has the ability to run around and toy with Trent, and he'll never have a way of standing up as a paladin should until he gets to be at least her level? |

Re: DMs: Trent Posted: 27 Jan 2005 08:12 AM |
An idea which popped into my head when Trent ended up chatting to Lani was that, as a part of her quest to help bring back Aristi without getting herself overtly involved, Lani might try to slowly turn trent away from wanting to be a Paladin of Midoran ever again, trying to gently push him towards the Herald of Aristi style of Paladinhood. Any thoughts on that very briefly written down idea? :P

Looks cool to me, though more pdw and DB's thoughts that matter. But I do think it would be cool to give as much IC guidance as possible to our existing paladins that options are available to them, if they go looking. Just dont make it too easy for him to figure out...umm...sorry forgot this was B I was talking to! No worries at all then!! :0)

Re: DMs: Trent Posted: 27 Jan 2005 09:01 PM |
I am not sure how you would go through with this.
One thing that we want discovered (I was hoping the museum job would have happened by now, but it hasnt) are the tombs beneath Midor (work in progress).
Finding the Tomb of Marcus Aristi, and the complete code of the Arist was to be the next step in the midor plot for many characters.
What if Lani directs him to Sir Tonan beneath Port Royale - a paladin, not of Midoran. Perhaps that might give him a direction to search for.

Oh, nothing that obvious really. All Lani's gonna do is subtly hint that Paladins should remember mercy, and that Paladins governed by the clergy might not be free to be Paladins.

Re: DMs: Trent Posted: 19 Feb 2005 10:30 AM |
In an attempt to bring this to some sort of close (Trent wasn't actually doing anything about Jet, nor were any other players) I had Jet steal the Emperor, and demand Trent in return for it.
To an extent, I expected the players to fight Jet off (She was blatently no match for the group of PCs present). However, WA expressed an interest in Trent falling for a time.
When the players did absolutely bugger all except handing Trent over, I decided to have Jet toy with him a bit.
Predictably, Trent ended up falling from grace with the speed and grace of a stone dropped from a very tall building.
And here the problem starts. I had predicted Trent being a rather subtle evil. Acting like nothing had happened. Perhaps I was naive.
Obviously, he didn't do that. He dyed his armor black, and is now on a drama-queen rampage.
I imagine this will come to it's conclusion in about a week's time, if the PCs actually think of doing anything about Jet. Like persuading her to give up Trent. Or killing her. Or ANYTHING.
Meh. There's the plot as it's going now, somewhat left of the posts.

If it comes down to it, Barnas, use an NPC to spur some action, or at least try to give them some alternate ideas on how to handle this.
And shame on you for thinking WA is capabile of playing the sutble evil. I like the guy, but he's most inconsistant in his RPing.
