Most Urgent!!

*a weary and heavily burdended man mumbles a prayer as he tacks on a note to the bulletin board in Midor*
*steps back, and rereads his note and as he finishes reading, the pain and sorrow in his heart and stomach cause him to fall to his knees and vomit*
To: Midorans and all people who have ever walked the beautiful streets of Midor.
It is with great pain that I call on your help....for we are in a time of incredible chaos and debauchery.
Last eve, Jessup and I came across a woman near the desert who had lost her husband. She asked us to help her find him, and when we did, he was already dead. I could not bring him back to life, and Jessup and I decided to take the corpse to the poor woman and tell her of his fate. She was so distraught over his death, but we were able to calm her nerves enough to talk her into going back to Midor to see the High Priest. On our way back to Midor we were attacked by a group of Ettins, and the woman fell. Again, my spells were trivial, and there was nothing I could do to raise her back to life. Jessup and I decided the best thing to do was take both corpses back to Midor, hoping the High Priest would be able to revive them. Upon entering Brandibuck that most foul Lich, Vestlat, appeared and blocked our path. He said he knew we had the bodies of a married couple and that he needed them, but would not tell us of what he would use them for.
At first we refused to give up the bodies. Before we even realized it, pure evil crept into our minds like a black storm cloud races across the sky, and after a series of threats to steal our souls and several bribes later we were completly helpless to the lich and gave him the bodies. I don't know if it was fear that defeated us, or the fact that neither one of us were prepared to give up our souls, but it is done....
After that devilish fiend laughed and disappeared, we quickly realized our grave mistake and fled back to Midor with hopes we could talk to the Priest to find out what Vestlat wanted with the corpses.
I thought the The Priest himself was going to kill Jessup and me.....for what we did could destroy all that is good in the Vives. He explaind to us that the corpses of a married couple, are an ingredient to a spell that can open a portal to a dimension of pure evil....a dimension of demons!!
Jessup and I are sorry for what we have done...I can not say or write that enough....
The Priest then told me that if I wanted to keep my soul and my life, I would have to return to the Lich and bring back the bodies. Jessup and I were incredibly tired. We were mentally and physically drained. The Priest told us to rest up overnight and assemble a party and to set out to Lynaeum this very night.
I know I have let you all down....particulaly my dearest friends....and I know that even Theus is outraged with me. Each of you can do with me what you want on your own terms, but i beg you to help us fight this evil first. I am begging you all, any of you who are or were my friends or friends of Jessups', or any of you who do not wish to see this evil descend into Midor and destroy the woderful city....Please help the two of us in our burden...it is too heavy for the both of us to handle alone. Friends, I can not tell you of what we will face there, but i know that if you fear for your lives, you will help us try to prevent this maddness. I have spent the whole night laying awake praying in the Temple, and I fear that if we cannot assemble a grand army to march into the Lynaeum Catacombs, then we have no chance whatsoever....
Jessup and I will be in Midor tonight, unless we get banished by the guards, praying and hoping that some of you can forgive us of our dispicable foolishness and take pity on us enough to aid us in this most dreadful quest to regain these bodies. If not for our sake, then for the sake of all Midorans....

*Hans is looks the parchment over. He pulls out a piece of paper and starts writing. He tacks it below the askance for help. A shadow creeps up behind him, and smashes him on the head with a cudgel. Hans still has his hand on some of the parchment, but a good chunk rips away as he is dragged away. It reads: "I, Hans Wilhelm, shall duely try to..." Blood is splattered along the bottom and by the bulliten board.*
((I would LOVE to be a part of this, but my best friends birthday is today, so I can't make it >.<, but, at least I give something for the DM's to work with)) |

| Gene my friend I met Jessup this afternoon and he didnt had to ask my help when I knew what happened I offered myself to help. I have met that lich and he will pay for everything he is doing in Vives.... |

What hell has been unleashed upon Midor to plague us so? The amount of attacks, schemes and vile acts of treachery are piling with the day. There is only so much Midoran's champions can do... I demand a lot of their strength already... They search tireless, without complaint for answers to the many mysteries we face... *sighs*

However, I understand your concern Marick. Forgive us if we attempt to seek more help than we usually might... Despite Midoran's blessing, I have but two hands. We can not let that pair face this evil unprotected. If they march to confront the lich, we would be a poor helper of those in need if we gainsay them access to the sanctuary Midoran is apt to offer.

At least this time we face a known foe... one who will show himself in his arrogance of power. And I know one of these 'men'. He aided me in Maldovia, perhaps it is time to fulfil that debt.

OOC: I Just wanted to say thanks again to all the wonderful DMs in Vives. Last night's adventure to Lynaeum was the most enjoyable time I have had yet, and I really appreciate all the time each DM and player spent in preparing and executing this event. IMO the event flowed smoothly and was a success to all people invovled (to be honest, I was scared and nervous for myself and the players...Vestlat and Liches just freak me out *laughs*). I don't know how you all come up with these great storylines, but keep 'em coming...last night was great!!

I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Let me just say that the RP last evening was very very good. It's easy to DM when a group of good players is at hand. Rest assured, Vestlat will be back to "chat" with you sometime in the future. ;) |
