Not sure what yet, as Cecil is misbehaving and NWN won't load.
Working on it.

Re: Technical difficulties Posted: 18 Nov 2006 06:24 PM |
That's one hell of a wiki. Man I love that music. I hated how the film Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? left Robert Johnson at the crossroads and found three phonies in the recording studio. Robert Johnson could play any song he heard like he'd been playing it all his life. He ~was~ a recording studio. That was the devil's deal!
*flies to iTunes to download some stuff legitimate-like*
Favorites so far:
The Cramps - Mojo Man from Mars (very Pulp Fiction)
Ike & Tina Turner - Mojo Queen (very John Waters)
Mojo Hand (Lightnin' Hopkins) and Muddy Waters' Mojo Workin are both on there... Many covers of Mojo Workin w/ an especially good one by Michael Bloomfield, and a great cover of Mojo Hand by R. L. Burnside...
And the antidote for too much mojo: Spyro Gyra's "Sojo Mojo" which is just horrendous. Soulless. Blecch!

I need to correct a grevious error here, renter. In the movie, Robert Johnson was in the studio with the three phonies. He was also rescued from the Klan by them in the scene that's a recreation from the Wizard of Oz, and plays with them in their final number at the shindig where they are all pardoned. The souls of Everett, Pete and Delmar were crying out for justice.
I can't believe "L.A. Woman" wasn't on your list, by the way. By far, the coolest nickname given to a part of the anatomy ever.
Gotta keep on risin'.

Fair enough. I maintain that his story was usurped!
I left iTunes and ended up digging up these: R. Crumb's blues trading cards, Part 1 and Part 2.
Enjoy! |

Hi folks,
We're having some issues with the server and expect that there'll be downtime for the next 2 hours.
It should be up again at 16:00 Sydney time. |

*bah*
looks like I need to wait for Ara to power cycle the machine, as the server just won't come up.
Unfortunately, Ara keeps odd hours - ie the normal ones - which means he is asleep right now rather than being at my beck and call.
I think that is really rather rude of him.
So, no vives for now.
Sorry.

Re: Technical difficulties Posted: 18 Dec 2006 12:35 AM |
Do you know what this means? It means I actually have to do that whole... Sleep thing. I dont sleep. I nap.. but now i have to sleep. You horried people. I guess I could write stuff down about Joe.. I suck at writing. Spelling too... I will pay some one silk pocket lint if they write for me.. Eh Eh *nudges* Silk pocket lint Eh? FINE I didn't want to make you rich either! *runs off crying...* |
All Rincewind could manage to say was, "You know, I never imagined there were he-dryads. Not even in an oak tree." Durellae Snorted "Stupid! Where do you think acorns come from?" . . . (Terry Prachett, "The Color of Magic") |

Re: Technical difficulties Posted: 18 Dec 2006 12:56 AM |
Heck, I could write. Not overly well; but well enough to earn some lint.
And my connection must grow, after all. It's a win-win situation. ^^;;
_ Also, it's a shame about Vives being down. Again.
Funny how that happens when someone leaves, or when someone announces they're leaving. Like the NwN Servers can actually become bitter and are able to throw temper-tantrums.

Re: Technical difficulties Posted: 18 Dec 2006 10:07 AM |
Well server being down is a good opportunity to do some writing. The great thing about RP on board is:
A) You have all the time in the world (well ... figuratively speaking) to think out well what you will write, review and revise reading it to yourself before posting.
B) Even if you mess up A) above You can go back and do corrections (spelling mistakes, rephrasing etc) although doubtfull people return to read a second time, but whoever comes along next will see a better version.
No one is a born novel writer, some worse than others. You do it for your own enjoyment and if it pleases someone else in the process that's an added bonus. |

As a public courtesy to Vivesers I am leaving a mod on my server today... it sure isn't Vives. Most notably it lacks area descriptions, and only has a DM when I am not working. But hey... you could RP together there! I'll probably turn this off around 6pm PST.

Re: Technical difficulties Posted: 18 Dec 2006 01:24 PM |
Well,
That was fun.
Nothing that a funky dance with a bloody chicken around a black candle couldn't fix...eventually.
What was the problem? At a guess it was most likely some timing issues between QNX and NWServer. QNX has to do some very nasty things to make the interface between NWServer and the database work. If things are not behaving just so, things break.
Hopefully we won't see the problem again anytime soon.

Just to let you guys know... I did not break the server this time. Our attempt to resuce Salt was cut short by a grumpy Warlock that pulled the plug on everything.

*bangs head against table* Please remind me to never participate in any sort of a rescue, ever again.... Except, um, to rescue Cerno as soon as the server is back up :P. Assuming that I'm still alive.
