Just wanted to give a shoutout to <b>Roland Fellsbane</b> who was kind enough to lead Ashen and Josaphine on a dangerous expedition last night. I had to clean off my computer chair after I almost witnessed Roland being felled by a "noble" salamander. I know that if he had fallen Ashen and Josaphine surely would have perished as well...as even if we had escaped that volcano, we never would have made it back to civilization in one piece.
( Besides, I didn't even know where we were ;) ... |

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Emma, Sylune, and Father for a fun expedition into the swamp around Tanglewood; Even though we never found that hound it was a lot of fun.
There is nothing Kelderak likes better than travelling amongst an "animal army", except maybe providing "manly" support for a friendly farmer girl from Paws...
I do not get to travel in a group very often, but when I do it reminds me why I play here. The roleplay and comraderie is second to none.
Thanks again, |

<quote><quote>Wow..*catches breath* Massive shoutouts to Snooty (Emma) and Kalos (Dante) for some of the most intense combat and breath-taking near misses I can remember....three combats in a row we were all down -- at one point or another -- to nearly single digits hp, and somewhow managed to survive. I still don't know how Dante was stunned in front of the snake at about 4 hp for what seemed like forever and still walked out...Nice teamwork, great stuff....
And a big shoutout to ... |

I know that I get the cold sweats any time I come close to dying in Vives, and when I do actually die, I fall over in my chair or launch my keyboard across the room ;) So I would agree with Arathon's comment that "the threat of XP loss in Vives does make people fairly serious about death". I do not get a lot time to play which in turn makes the XP penalty very harsh for me as I may lose a month+ of experience, but I wouldn't have it any other way. |

And then there have been times when I am focused on the XP, and getting to the next level so I can use that new set of armor that I just bought... or to get that new feat... or whatever it is that makes me slip into levelitis mode instead of just "becoming" my character.
And thats usually when I start taking those dumb chances... or worse.. doing things that are out of character for my PC, just to get the XP.</quote>
I typically know when I'm going to die in Vives now ... |

When it comes to experience loss, I strongly feel that is should remain unchanged. As I am a player who is on infrequently and often times not on when DM's are, I don't think RP'ers who gain experience from DM's should be immune to the effects of dying.
I do not build my characters as power-gamers by any stretch. I come up with a character concept and then create the character accordingly. The truth is, some characters are just not meant to be tromping through the wilderness alone, in ... |
