Vives² Suggestions Posted: 03 May 2006 02:57 PM |
All my personal taste and perhaps not to everyone elses:
1) More multicultural cities like Port Royale.
2) More nations giving more scope for conflict between them.
3) Less technology, damned gnomes and their flying machines!
4) Keep the wonderful 'on-entry' area descriptions
5) Make the original Vives 1 downloadable!
Not very imaginative currently but I'll rack my brain.
Can't wait to see what you guys come up with and step foot inside Vives². |

4) Keep the wonderful 'on-entry' area descriptions
Goes without saying DEFINITELY staying.
(5) Make the original Vives 1 downloadable!
That I think would be cool :D When we eventually do port over to Neverwinter Nights and Vives 2 fully (most likely in 2007?) then it'd be cool for folks to be able to take a peek in the toolset and such Another option might also be to (if people like) allow everyone free reign (like a DM?) and actually experience it online from behind the curtains? (Can't promise as I would need to chat with other Dm's and such first). |

1) More multicultural cities like Port Royale.
Already way ahead of you.
2) More nations giving more scope for conflict between them.
See above.
3) Less technology, damned gnomes and their flying machines!
It's there, but it'll be on the periphery. There are places in #2 that you'll never see and will only hear about (to make the world seem that much bigger).
4) Keep the wonderful 'on-entry' area descriptions
What Ara said.
5) Make the original Vives 1 downloadable!
What Ara said.
Not very imaginative currently but I'll rack my brain.
That's okay; our writing team has come up with literally thousands of pages of content and more is being added at a very very fast rate. We aren't going to run out of ideas any time soon.

Muhahahaha... it's bigger, better, more polished, more detailed and more spiffy than #1! You know how you get sequels that aren't as good as the original? Welllll... it sure as heck ain't one of those. |

When you say more polished, how exactly? Yes, the base graphics of NwN2 will be nicer, but a lot of the custom stuff will be gone. My gut feeling says it'll be at least half a year before Vives2 is up to anywhere near the spit and polish of Vives1, and that's with people working at a blistering pace. |

Probably means none of Ara's unfinished quests/areas/monsters/items/NPC's and other such wonderments that "litter" Vives 1 at the moment :P |

i'd suggest that it was firkrag mountain exploding and creating more playing area that would be real good Vives is an island ergo finite so in 3-4 years time a new town being discovered is unlikely . One or two new big ish islands around vives containing there own gvernments whether fuedal , democratic or just plain orcy would be well good. The option to spawn upon chr creation in diferent islands .thereby permanently affecting aliegiences etc.. Think big guys ! This is going to be running for at least 5 years ...untill nwn3 comes along ..if it ever does |

I would like to see
Prestige or Base Classes Unique to the Vives world
Spells Unique to Vives
Racial Types unique to Vives
I also like all the other ideas you all had. Except using elf bones.

Re: Vives² Suggestions Posted: 11 Jun 2006 10:55 PM |
Race/ Class/ Gender specific quests. Quests with completion. Cultures with subcultures and countercultures, all the wonderful Vives plots, subplots, etc. There's still so much to discover about Vives1 how could I possibly know where to start on Vives 2? Dynamic evolving world like Vives1.
In response to previous posts: Well, honestly since the PEOPLE are what make Vives 1, making it downloadable and DM-able by those that downloaded it could maybe let the flame burn on a bit longer... maybe if people could host it like you said, freeing you guys up to focus on Vives2?...
I have another idea: Sell the idea to Black Isle as a mod. and make a stipulation in the contract that once they fill it with quests and redistribute it, that it NOT be one of those that you can only access OL, (like Kingmaker, etc. was B4 they added ot to the Diamond set.) I'd love to see them fill it up with quests and turn it into an adventure mod for the Nostalgic.
Really, I've had so much fun with you guys here at vives, I can't imagine that the next one wouldn't be as fun. Make sure that you can still make it a "dynamic world" that shapes around the characters, and I'm sure you won't be able to go wrong. Too bad we're dropping all the old lore and re-starting with old characters. But then again, sometimes a new/clean start is appropriate and even better! Can't wait to see what you do. |

Re: Vives² Suggestions Posted: 12 Jun 2006 05:13 AM |
I now I'm knew here, but heck;
I haven't seen too much of Vives to suggest anything "new", but I was wondering if Vives2 will not be an island? That way characters could come from beyond the land, and that can also help explain why new players might be really ignorant at times. :p Also maybe sometimes players might just want to create characters that come from small villages that don't appear on the world map and then they assume they don't exist and it creates a minor problem for newcomers... <Takes a deep breath> It's nothing serious, just wondering. :p
Oh, and the no-Drow policy still stands for Vives2? |

Re: Vives² Suggestions Posted: 12 Jun 2006 05:29 AM |
PCs in Vives 1 are permitted to be from 'outside' Vives but that requires DM permission and submitting a background.
Vives 2 will be an island (sort of). Sorry. Vives has its own unique lore and we prefer people to work with what's there than come up with brand new things for other PCs to memorise. The entire reason behind Vives being an island is for consistency and coherency. If you say "Naruth" or "Port Royale" then people know exactly what you are talking about and exactly what to expect. If you say "I come from the Land Down Under" then people won't have the foggiest.
It also means that can connect with other PCs a whole lot easier.
Bottom line - less headache for all involved, and far more enriching, to have the background already in place. There is enough room to come up with new lore within the bounds of the world. Heck, as someone who's expanded with what we've got, I know this. It just takes a while to settle in, but once you do, you'll find it is better to work with what you're given than come up with something that may not be at all appropriate for Vives.
And yes. No Drow. Vives is NOT FR. Vives is NOT a make-the-biggest-freak Drow/RDD/Vampire server. Frankly, I think that the standard races and classes are fine, and that having fewer choices is actually better. Too much choice tends to make people go "ooh ooh, I want to make the biggest attention-grabbing character I can, but um, I won't bother with a personality". PCs like Salt Sower and Juylina Komthya are proof that sheer personality will trump superfluous details (subrace, classes) any day. |
