Boat trips Posted: 13 Jan 2006 06:26 PM |
I noticed a while ago that the ships have changed a tad. Once on board, I noticed that there are a few small trannys on the boat edge that go to places like buckshire, Ferein, Lake Ladriel and port Royal. Well tonight I got on the boat and it was going to PR, but I wanted to go to ferein, so i took the tranny from the boat there. I got as far as the path of Aros and suddenly I am dragged back and am standing in Port Royal. The other week I wanted to go to PR, the boat was taking it's time docking so I took the tranny to PR. I got as far as the Oxen guy in PR and was suddenly dragged back to the docks when the ship 'docked'
So, my question is, what's up? These trannys are a nice idea, but they don't really seem to work at the moment. |

The scripts to jump are probably on a delay command and are not getting cleared once you use the other boats.
I'm sure it will be fixed in the next version. |

| I just assumed the transition points were put in for the people who managed to get themselves stuck on the ship... (logging out while on the ship, or whatever) becuase yeah, I tried using one.. and then the "boat trip ended" while I was wandering down the road.. and I was dragged back to the dock |

| I thought they were simply put in for if you were stuck? The trips aren't supposed to be instant after all, are they? |

Examine the descriptions on them — it's not a bug.
The exits are for emergency exit only.
I will change the name to "EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY - [Insert destination here]" next chance I get, as peeps seem to be clicking without looking (and spamming me with bug reports :p). |

The transitions are for escape, if you're stuck.
If you're not stuck, the transport system will continue to work, and you'll be jumped back to your prior location at the end of your "Voyage".

If someone is getting stuck on the boats, I would like to know about it.
At the moment, there are only three conditions that I know about where people can get stuck on a boat
1/ use the boat, get on the boat and logout
2/ use the boat, get on the boat and the server crashes
3/ use the boat, get on the boat and the server resets.
All of these circumstances are corrected automatically the next time you log back in.
I'd actually like to take out the emergency exits because it appears that people are getting impatient and using them when they dont need to and thus getting jumped back to "where they belong"

| Twice, most recently approximatelly a month and a half ago, I've been stuck on the boat when none of those had occurred. The first time was something like a year ago. I've no idea why, or what could have caused it. But it does happen. :/ |

Paul, just another one for the books
You can get stuck on a boat if you have someone on autofollow and they take a boat, and your autofollow takes you on the boat, but not off. heh, I knew I could think of one more. |

At the moment, there are only four...
(of which the last one is not handled, so dont do that) |

OK, so those exits are EMERGENCY exits. Sorry, but it is not normal for me to examine a transition. (Unless that tranny is on a doorway, and perhaps the doorway is locked.... )
As since the use of them was for emergency only...why on earth did you add four exits? (that's just me being curious, cos if I was stuck, I wouldn't care where I ended up so ling as I got OFF the boat. One emergency exit to PR would suffice) |

Still seems to be cases of people logging out on a boat and then logging back in onto the boat.
That shouldnt happen (the login to the boat bit).
Please tell me if your character does get stuck so I can track down this bug. If you can remember, tell me where you started from and where you were going to.
Thanks.

I just found myself suffering from another option:
I paid to use the boat and the client crashed on transition. When I logged back in the server correctly put me on the boat but I didn't connect to destination.
I was travelling from Lake Ladriel to Ferein. |
