| The starting weapons boggled me as well.
I could not locate normal armor in Midor or Port Royale. None. The closest I found was platinum chainmail which seemed a steal at 400ish gold. I assumed that was typical gear on Vives till I received a vaguely accusatory "that's awfully nice armor for a level 3" tell.
I managed to locate a normal tower shield and found that it had some sort of bizarre particle effect. I've seen others new players since with the same shield, so I don't know if it's ... |

| Not at all. Alignment isn't a strait jacket.
From what you've posted, I could see this character as either NG or CG, dependent on which way you plan to lean primarily.
Good luck.
*edit* Sorry, missed the bit about torture - still waking up. CN could work here. |

| I wanted to take a moment to send my greetings to the Vives community, and to introduce myself.
I'm a long-time roleplayer that recently escaped from the shackles of Everquest hoping for a return to my roots.
Currently, I'm in the process of writing IC and OOC background information. If possible, I'd like to send them along to a DM for approval prior to posting. Evil PCs can be a tricky matter, I realize, and I'd like to avoid causing headaches for the DMs.
I will be in IRC later this ... |

| I'm curious as to how DM-run quests are handled. Do they spontaneously happen, or are they scheduled beforehand?
Thus far I've only encountered about four or five static quests in-game. I'm trying to fight the urge to 'go level', but it's difficult when there doesn't seem to be any logical thing for my character to be doing.
I've had some enjoyable interactions with other players, but the dialogue will end and you each continue on your way.
Should I just continue to explore? I've stuck ... |

| Perhaps I should clarify that. My question concerning quests bled into a larger issue.
I understand that the playerbase here is small. The reason I was trying to find single-player quests, or DM quests I could be sure to attend, was that the few people I've met were far higher level than me, and inviting myself to tag along with them seemed presumptuous.
Obviously, getting to know people and be known in turn takes time. How did all of you approach it? What did you do in the meantime? |

| If you accelerate a character through the first few levels, you rob them of the experience of those levels. I don't mean experience as in point values, I mean the actual empirical happening.
Is it dangerous at level one? Yes. But challenge scales with you, so it's also dangerous at level twenty. People act as though the game doesn't actually begin until you reach a certain number of hitpoints. Even if you have 30 hp, there are still things that can happily kill you in one hit.
To me it's ... |
