I'd like to echo Vulpina, the Gumball Caper was excellent. However to papraphrase Michael Caine: Sam, you were only supposed to open the bloody door!

Sparky takes some time over reading the poster, golden helm moving slowly from side to side, gloved fingers tapping on various descriptions. Finally he removes a fine quill pen from a pouch and writes a brief note next to one item: Boots of the North: 12,500 gold. Sparky Shorttall

Yes, I know - someone has already posted higher than Sparky's bid. ((All over Vives little old ladies are mugged at demon-point*, their life savings pilfered, their hopes of quiet retirement ruined....and all because someone is charging 20,000 for a pair of boots... *Demon-point: like gun-point but scarier and with a side order of pointy teeth)) Humf...Sparky mutters to himself before carefully writing down "Boots of the North, Sparky Shorttall, 25,000"

A halfling pauses in front of the notice board, a golden helm scanning from side to side. Finally it stops...dead. Hmmm. A fine feathered quill appears with the help of a muttered phrase and describes elegant arcs as a little neat print is added to the page. "Sparky Shorttall bids 45,000 for the Boots of the North." Then Sparky walks off humming to himself and wondering where he can come up with sufficient witnesses to alibi him for the next day or two.

Sparky stands in front of the notice and frowns, some days it just isn't worth getting up in the morning. He weighs his purse and frowns some more. Finally Sparky shrugs, pulls out a quill pen and writes: "Sparky Shorttall, Boots of the North, 60,000 gold." It's not as if it is ever /his/ money afterall...

Goblin on an open plain 2/13/2006 5:34:25 PM   (Total replies: 1)
Based on the fact that I spent the last half an hour trying to save my system from becoming a paperweight after complications with yet another quest based lag crash, here is an idea for all future quests: One goblin on one hit point on a minimum sized open plain and with a maximum of two PCs (both 1st level fighters). ************************ There, rant done :) Seriously though - some of the recent quests seem almost deliberately based around the worst possible places for lag (the ...

The Word of a Fool 1/10/2006 7:38:38 PM   (Total replies: 1)
OOC - I have been playing in Vives for a little while now and I have been become increasingly aware of my failure to post anything to the site. This is my attempt to rectify the situation. The tales I will add here will all be observations of events that have happened around my character - "Garick Farwalker, traveller and fool." Names will not be mentioned and actual "detail" may change here and there to fit a bards sense of drama. Quality of the end product is not guaranteed, read on at ...

A DWARF, A LADY AND A FOOL A man sits, sprawled accross a corner table. He wears the colourful silks of a travelling bard, the surface of the table in front of him littered with the clutter of an adventurers pack. For the moment the man is interested in the edge of a brutal looking axe and the equally brutal edge of his thirst. One receives the attention of a whetstone, the other the attention of a small silver flask. After a while the bard looks up from his axe to meet the stares of a ...

AN ENCOUNTER MOST EXTRAORDINARY A man takes a seat on a public bench, smoothing out his colourful silks as he does so. A small crowd has gathered around, attracted by the sight of an obvious bard. The man lowers his travelling pack down beside him, extracting two objects as he does so. The first object is a finely crafted lute, the second a small silver flask. He lays the lute in his lap and takes a swig from his flask as he looks around his impromptu audience. Without another word ...
