| Conn sat and scratched at the mark of the hand branded in the back of his head. He had sat there and told Jessup that he was out, that he couldn't live in the shadows anymore. He had sat there and told Jessup that he was not cut out for this life. That he wanted nothing to do with the upcoming battle. He had expected Jessup to kill him. To yell at him. | Conn sat in Doc's after Jake had left and pondered his words. He knew that Jessup would not let him off easy. He had expected death but Jessp cut him a break. A hand broken and the brand of the Black Hand removed by acid; in public. Conn sighed. He would face these consequences with honor. He made his decision and now he would live with this pain to come.

| It was done. It was over. Conn sat there in the dirty water of the canal near Betty's fish sand. His neck burned from the acid used to remove the mark of the hand. His hand was swolen and mangled from Jakes hammer. He worked at bandaging his left hand and making a sling, while the members of the hand talked around him.
