| 1. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/22/2005 10:02:58 PM Thanks for hosting it! I feel it was a real opportunity for Nevron to shine :D *shameless self admiration*
I think everyone did a good job, you could sit back and listen and try to find out who's a good guy, bad guy or somewhere in between by their responses to Juylina's explenations´. |

He calls himself "professional soldier" or "heavy arms and armor expert". The dark armor and helmet contains a man that is, in fact, much less ominous than his equipment suggests. He has a few scars and his behavior is that of a soldier, although one not employed in any army...
His weapon of choice is the longsword, but he carries a bow and some smaller blades to use when called for. He claims to be loyal and reliable to his employer, and it ... |
| 5. | Re: Vives Personals Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/14/2005 8:16:09 AM Nevron Tel
Nevron is a tall but slender man, dressed in dark blue and black robes. He's got long black hair and a neatly trimmed beard. He seems a bit weak, and could probably use more healthy exercise. He carries a spellbook as well as several other tomes of magical theory and practice.
Nevron is not eager to engage in hard work and has an uncommon aversion against getting dirty that many other adventurers would find odd. He will likely mention that he is a noble, but not ... |
| 6. | Re: Welcome New Folks! Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/15/2005 7:33:08 PM I certianly get that warm welcome feeling here. Could be a digestive problem of course, but let's not hope for the worst... :)
Anyhow I'd like to welcome my fellow player Jaded Prophets (Vakal Galanderos) who actucally convinced me to try Vives out. I just happened to arrive a day before him |

| 8. | Alignment shifting Posted by MadskillsMike on 11/6/2005 1:12:58 PM Just something I noticed IG.
The first time I went into the botanical gardens with Nevron, I got a chaotic shift from chosing to enter without paying. I didn't think that was chaotic because the woman said you didn't have to donate, but it would be appreciated or something alone those lines. I thought it was a perfect move for an LE character: take advantage of the rules.
Now, I went there with my new character and chose to pay, because despite what I think not paying is ... |
| 9. | Re: Alignment shifting Posted by MadskillsMike on 11/6/2005 6:48:44 PM I am aware of the commonly occuring problems with scripted alignment shifts.
What got me wondering about this specific one though, is that the alternatives are not on the same scale. If there had been one good and one evil answer, making the choice for the character is quite easy. Likewise if there had been a lawful and a chaotic one. But one good and one chaotic... that leaves some characters with no option at all.
Typing out the answer is great of course. Instead of the ... |
| 10. | Another "new player, first impressions" thread Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/21/2005 6:43:53 AM Well, here we go.
Good: A lot of things. The crafting system is amazing, it really got me interested and provides a great platform for RP. The world design is great, soft slopes on hill and the mage tower comes to mind as really special, but Vives overall feels very well made. The Hak's were worth downloading :)
The RP is what I would expect of a game world as serious as Vives. Then again I expected something great and the RP is truly great. Players are very helpful as ... |
| 11. | Re: Another "new player, first impressions" thread Posted by MadskillsMike on 11/30/2005 10:55:32 AM Man this thread is old by now :)
Obviosuly some people like full pvp and others don't. |
| 12. | Re: Stat RP Response Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/28/2005 6:14:29 PM (take the following as words from a Vives noob who has barely been here for 2 weeks, ignore at will and please don't get upset anyone)
I built my character intending to RP his stats. I've always thought that stats are a large part of the character both in combat and RP'ing. It's unfair to not act like that in my opinion.
A high STR and low CHA character can both kill monsters and be very attractive and sociable. There is nothing in the game engine preventing that char from ... |
| 13. | Re: The Infernal Tome (journal of Nevron Tel) Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/28/2005 4:35:46 AM Chapter two.
Lady Fri'el is a strange woman, mildly put. Out of what she claimed to be sheer bordedom she took me on a journey to a lich's tower. She is strong and beautiful, but I suspect she is at least partly insane. The tower was very interesting however. It was filled with traps and constructs, mundane and obscure. I even saw a golem made out of demon flesh. A very odd thing, but when I met the lich, I understood why it had come inte existance. After Fri'el defeated the undead ... |
| 14. | Re: The Infernal Tome (journal of Nevron Tel) Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/31/2005 5:43:30 PM Chapter three.
As I sit here on a makeshift bed, in the ruins of the lighthouse, I cannot help but be fascinated by this woman. She left with a spell, vanished from my life for now. I feel that she was satisfied with my work. She knows what Kal knows, and I know something much more valuable; her name.
I wonder if the skull or the beutiful female face his her real one. Does it matter? I will find out sooner or later. The sun rises now, and like it, my knowledge will spread ... |
| 15. | The Infernal Tome (journal of Nevron Tel) Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/27/2005 4:00:16 PM Chapter one.
As I write this the imp is sitting on my shoulder, it's claws threatening to pierce my robe and rip into my flesh. I think it is a female, I have decided to call it Dremora. I don't know what it's real name may be. It appeared one day, without a word. I know it is connected to me. During the long nights, when I have been too tired to experiment further, I have pondered if it is connected to the Tel bloodline since that day when Abrim fell to the pit fiend. It has no ... |
| 16. | Re: The Infernal Tome (journal of Nevron Tel) Posted by MadskillsMike on 11/4/2005 7:12:37 AM Chapter four.
I have seen her but once since our meeting, being insulted by a strange foreign man.
Other recent developments include my work in the Enchanting trade. I successfully transfered the magical power into things - bars of metal and valueable gems. It was a pleasant if draining experience. The vibrant energy of enchanted gems pulses like heartbeats for the true wizard. I think I have finally found a pleasure that is not hollow. Power comes not only from the spells ... |
| 17. | Re: The Infernal Tome (journal of Nevron Tel) Posted by MadskillsMike on 11/11/2005 6:40:25 PM Chapter five.
My studies took an unexpected turn. At the advice of the mutilated Mikaylin I chose to lead an expedition into the Lynaeum maze. There must be a tome on the Infernal language somewhere. The dark, forgotten library seemed so promising. But I found something quite interesting, even if it wasn't what I was looking for. An old book regarding the Lynaeum, the civilization before it's fall. If I could get someone to decrypt it, it might give some useful information.

| 18. | Re: The Infernal Tome (journal of Nevron Tel) Posted by MadskillsMike on 11/7/2005 8:06:10 AM Chapter five.
I have been to the very bowels of the earth. Spiders in shapes and forms unimaginable swarmed around us, seeking to drain the heat from us and lay their eggs in our flesh. Fortunatly Tomi and Marrya kept them at distance. They are really more useful than constricting, despite the banter in their lowly common accents. All was well as we made our way deeper into the underground kingdom of the archanids, until Marrya finally decided it was time to turn back. It was then I ... |

These alignment shifts are getting annoying. |

| 22. | Re: Why oh why... Posted by MadskillsMike on 11/7/2005 2:18:40 PM Least you diddn't slit his throat and cause every NPC in Vives to become hostile to you.
No, I thought that would be chaotic ;) |
| 23. | Re: Some of my thoughts on what is roleplaying Posted by MadskillsMike on 10/15/2005 7:09:43 PM Only been here for two days, but I have a few things to share :)
1. Involving people
Few people RP all alone. I know the DM's tend to love it but I just don't have the energy. The odd emote and verbal comment, sure, but not as if another PC or PC's were there. Thus I like to team up with other PC's even for things I could do solo. First off it provides a more fun RP experience, and secondly it can get sidetracked, change direction and so on. I've been in situations where ... |
