1.Re: How to connect via. mIRC to our chatrooms
Posted by Arathon on 11/20/2004 10:01:17 AM
Hi :)

Just click on the link above and then on the Java Chat button, that will get you onto the irc server we use.

Click on Channels at the top and double click on the vives one, and you should be good to go :)

Or you can type in /join #vives, instead of double clicking :)

Hope this works for you :D

The following is a quick tutorial on how to connect to our chatrooms using mIRC.

(1) Obtain the program mIRC and install it on your machine (can be found free from many sources).

(2) Start it up.

(3) It should take you to options, if not then choose options from the menu.

(4) On the connect screen click on the add button, then put in the description Darkmyst or whatever you like and in the IRC ...

I also used to test out monsters on you as well Chief right? Anything that could kill you ended up in game someplaceTongue outOr they were just there to slap down in front of you to cause some havoc (pretty much my entire DM experience..... just randomly placing critters in front of players paths) :)

Icy Vale (as it was previously, using a hak) was the first ever area in Vives.... It was basically a few of us pissing about when the Lands of Lore server was down.... Chief was one of those I'm sureSmiley

Favourite, would (of course) be meeting Lisen/Nathalie. A distant second would be the building (I never did play/DM much). I'm just happy people liked & derived some enjoyment from it!

Probably when we were testing waaay back in the early days. We all tried to cross Gladden & the trolls, a group of 6 or so.... must have respawned about 100 times eachSmileyThat and meeting Lisen here of course ;)
8.How it all started.
Posted by Arathon on 7/22/2013 6:07:53 AM
Vives actually started as an outlet from another PW called LansofLore (herein referred to as LOL). It began with Icy Vale using the old hak for winter areas, and was merely a place to head (hosted from time to time on my PC and 56k) when that server was down.

Some old-schoolers such as Chief/Lytton/Glew/Merum/Pickston (Elosas on LOL if memory serves? Elf King.....!), headed on over and had a blast. Aria then joined in the chaos, and we thought it would be fun to create a world based ...

Since I'm working on Nothari'in and The Duergar now, and they're almost fully ready )them and their city) to go in game........ then I thought this could do with a BUMP!

Also looking for a spot for the mountain under which dulzen rien resides still ;)

Another thing I'll be needing............. the City is gonna be built within a mountain (the interiors to reflect such, on varying levels)....... This mountain will be either:

(A) Part of the Divider Chain.
(B) Right next to the Divider Chain.

(Up to you folks really :D)

The Divider Chain are a range of snowcapped Mountains going north of Icy Vale (see other threads for more info).......

So how about some cool suggestions for a name? Maybe link ...

Gash......

I'm working on it this week........ the interior and mainly the outside areas (mountains and such)..........

Not sure what to do about the interior really? If it's discovered there wouldn't be Dwarves occupying it would there? Maybe we can start to populate it etc when it has been discovered and the Dwarven players start Roleplaying moving in? Not sure what you think on this, entirely up to you :)

(By populating it I mean, merchants, NPC's and the ...

You can actually place one in game ;)

use the creator, choose placeable object, and in there somewhere are two objects called large hole and small hole (in the standard pallette).

EDIT: It's under miscellaneous :D

Just a thought..........

As I'm redoing Icy Vale and extending areas northwards to include the divider chain............ how about some sort of IG reasoning through a quest or otherwise leading to a slight warming in the lands......... explaining the use of the snow rural tileset visually and also the opening of routes across the mountains once again? Could also lead to new areas opening up whilst being added slowly and the eventual uncovering of Dulzen?

Just a quick ...

Idea being (to clarify a little)......

Some sort of climate shift (not sure whether natural/magical/linked in with the runes/sones/whatever) which players can influence then slowly see happen in game........ first Icy vale becoming a little warmer (though still bitter) then the opening of the mountains and slowly a route through them appearing (we can block it off using Ice stuff as placeables etc until they've thawed).

This might then lead to an ancient valley opening ...

Hmm..... Waaay back, I actually think we had this? It showed the party members what was looted. It was then removed or got broke and never fixed, but I'm not sure why ;)
