Enchanting, and bronze Posted: 21 Sep 2007 10:55 AM |
Slightly irritated.
"Oh man, what a great idea! I'll make a two-bladed sword of acid! Let's see....
0 of 1 Enchanting Oil 0 of 1 Bag of Acid 0 of 1 Bronze Two-Bladed Sword
Okay... got the materials for the bag of acid... got the bronze... now to make the blade (which should be easy as pie!
*at the armor crafting anvil in the trading post* Hm... Tin... copper... iron...
What? No bronze?"
Is it me, or is a two-bladed sword of acid (which would be really neat, and something to work towards) not conceivable to even craft, since the anvil does not give the option? Shouldn't an option be available to make weapons out of bronze, since the armor anvils allow bronze helms?
Just a thought, before I go and toss all these ingots and badger leather (which is needed to make bags of acid.)
What gives?

I think this is just another hole in the CNR crafting as implemented on Vives. Apart from arrows, I just don't think its possible to craft weapons that do elemental damage. Enchanting is kind of like food crafting in this way - full of holes - I think Liisi exhausted the possibilities of food crafting on Vives and became familiar with which recipes work, and which ones don't.
You'll find lots of funny stuff in the backwaters of tinkering, too, shields you can't make on the tailor's tables, hides you can't use, etc. I'm not sure those elemental bags are good for anything, or if they ever were. I might be wrong though. It could be worth testing the different recipes in case some of them do work, and its probably the only way to figure that out.
((Not complaining btw, I know this s**t is free!)) |

| I'm guessing it's the same thing as it is with bullets - the recipe exists at the enchanting end, but you can't make the bullets. Or at least, that used to be how it was. |

:: A short, and more then likely incomplete list of metalworking/enchanting bugs ::
The majority of hammers, axes, and flails that are in metals of silver, iron, platinum, and titanium are not producable. Most are labeled correctly for needed items but the anvils do not recognise when the wood shaft is placed inside. Bronze was removed as a metal option for armours, shields, helms, and weapons. Copper still works for most, including most axes, hammers, and flails. Other metals which still work for these weapons are mithril and adamantium.
Silver coating is not possible, as again it gives you the recipe but does not register the holy water you place inside the brazier.
Enchanting is limited to gems, ingots, and elemental bags which I believe all are fully functional. No shield, or weapon enchantments are working.
Thats all I can bring to mind right at the moment, though I'm sure there are a few more metalworking options that are bugged. But hopefully this information helps keep you from setting out on a path that isn't open to you currently. |

AFAIK this has been the case for well over a year...there were a few items that could be made that would allow elemental damage.....one pc I saw had succeeded with a flaming weapon of one type and several pc's toted acid dmage weapons...none of which had wooden handles.
Frankly I don't believe that it is desired by those in charge of the mod that players have such weapons. If you want elemental damage you are pretty much limited to multiclassing casters with that ability or casting from scroll. |

We would like PCs to have those CNR weapons.
It's just that in fixing CNR to be less frustrating, and in integrating it into Vives' mechanics, several things got broken. |

'kay...thx...I wasn't sure
I like the CNR recipes but I have noticed there have been no recent releases or bugfixes either one of the CNR hak. |

All of the above Items have been crafted at one time or another, or kalannar has seen crafted byothers. Only some have become obsolete to to revamps in the woodcrafting system, the Brewer's Oven having no script, or oherwise. I've noted above which are the case. Difficult metal weapons and metal armour are not a persuit that Kalannar has chosen to persue as of yet.
I took out the notes of all the FX that those items do... if you want to know, FOIG. That would be an unfair spoiler. (All of this information you can find out by consulting a crafting station, but here at least you know what HAS been made!!!) Hope that helps!

RE: hide shields, you can still make the wooden components for these on the wood crafting benches - its the last menu labeled "old stuff" or something.
You can succeed with all the hide shield crafting recipes, but only 2 of them kick out shields. You can make wolf hide and brown bear hide shields on the tailoring tables, size small, large and tower. They are both pretty decent. |
