Urgent Meeting in Port Royale Posted: 05 Jan 2007 10:26 AM |
Following a failed attempt to establish contact with the Gathering - Vilyave's favored hin had suggested that if anyone could out-bargain the devil, it was they - Salt sets out across the Kobai Desert for Buckshire with an idea in mind.
He has not put pen to paper in a week, nor consulted his spellbook, denying the phenomenon that moves like a blight through his library and archive. He considers, however, that there may well be a solution to his dilemma.
Consulting with Mayor Ebert in Buckshire, he obtains the use of a gnomish press. An hour later, covered in ink up to his elbows, lead type scattered everywhere, Ebert delivers a stack of printed hand bills, which Salt takes and distributes to those he would gather. The first one is nailed loudly to the door of Pickston & Jessup's Wild Tours in the Port Royale.

LET US BARGAIN AS A UNIT
((I'm thinking to hold this meeting after the P&J Tour to the Divider Chain this coming Saturday. Start time will depend upon when the tour ends and who is still left alive afterwards. I'm hoping Jessup can be there, and a majority of those to whom this storyline is rather crucial. If not, we can reschedule. Reply in this thread.
Maybe we can do it in IRC if its just not possible to get everyone together.
I just know I won't run into everyone that I need to involve in this meeting IC/IG. I'd like to schedule this meeting here and assume that anyone who should have gotten one of Salt's hand bills got one. He would give them to anyone he knows has been contacted by the Sugar Man/Seil, including Alis, Balthor, Eibellenith, Emma, Shard, Nero, Ophelia, and Valethrion, and he would give them several extras so that they could expand the distribution, but the bills could easily circulate more widely.
Also, the two-week period that the Black Hand offered to delay on their "final solution" to the Sugar Man problem expires next weekend. I will be out of town from Thursday 1/11 to Saturday 1/13 and won't be in game at all when this courtesy period ends and the killings begins. In the interest of giving the killers a fair shot at Salt, I'm hoping Jessup will allow a one-week extension.)) |

(("Let Us Bargain As a Unit" - chuckles at Renter6's attempt to unionize adventurers thoughout Vives))
Emma reads through the handbill, a weak smile curving her thin lips as she finishes.
"He recognizes the urgency," she murmurs quietly to herself. "Shame on me for doubting."
As she takes a small stack of handbills for distribution, she shivers involuntarily, remembering the vision she'd had when looking into the maw of the demon.
The shiver morphs to a sigh when she thinks back to the previous evening's discussion with Bel, and places that memory beside one of a discussion between Shard and Salt a week prior. In both matters, Sir Jessup's squire seemed to have a role to play, yet she was unaware of whether anyone had yet been able to contact him. Emma makes for Port Royale at a brisk pace, leaving a folded handbill at each of Wilde's Stagecrafters and Pickston and Jessup's Wild Tours, addressing each in the neat hand of an orderly mind to 'The Squire Sam'.
After that, she makes for Asashi. She would do her best to delay the request she'd received, though there was a certain muted urgency to it, and she wasn't sure the Brothers would give her a second chance if she did.
((It's not a great time for me, but I'll give attendance a shot. I can't make the big tour, but might be able to be on somewhat later. My preferred meeting time would be in the evening, from a North American time perspective, but I know that is pretty vile for Alis and Bel. Since I don't think IX ever sleeps, who cares about his schedule... )) |

| The majority of Salt's hand bills go out on the morning tide in Port Royale, along with the city's small net fishing fleet. They appear to have washed out of a gutter during overnight rains. For the first half of the day, they cover the waves in a blanket of soggy cardstock paper. Early on the harbor's waters are thick with them, sticking to oars and lines. They are gradually turned to pulp, sinking below the surface of the water and drifting there like jellyfish. |
