Re: FOOTBALL!!!!!! Posted: 07 Sep 2006 10:18 PM |
Willie Parker is overrated.
He's got one of the worst success rates on his runs in the league.
Getting two yards 11 times then a 40 yard run does nothing to help your team.
... you're still going to win.
I'm happy that Daunte looks awesome, that Derek Hagan has showed up, and that Wes Welker, who was our best wideout last year, is actually getting some looks.
Our secondary is pissporr, as is our OL's run blocking.
All in all, we're exactly where any serious Dolphins fan thought we'd be this year. We're going to go 8-8/9-7. I want the Super Bowl hype to just go away....
...but, it was fun to be 0-0 and dream. :P

*shakes head* I was Dolphin fan from Csonka to Marino...Since Shula left they hadn't had a coach and since Marino had been gone...they hadn't had a QB.
Now it seems they will have both. Maybe...and a running game?
((Still pro ball hasn't been the same for me since the strike and the scrubs.)) |

Re: FOOTBALL!!!!!! Posted: 07 Sep 2006 10:24 PM |
We've got no running game. Our pass protection looks alrightish, one man taking out one man from the rush, Darien Barnes blew a block, #72 (LJ Shelton) held.
But we're getting no push, and giving Ronnie no room to run.
He's looked dang good when he's gotten his hands on the ball in the passing game, though, and been very decent in pass protection.

I'd like to temper "Daunte looks awesome" to "Daunte looks recovered, mobile, still has an arm and makes good decisions, but can't mount a comeback with defenders all over him, not even the hint of a threat of a running game, against one of the best defenses in football".
Favre picks, hee.

FOOLISH COLONIALS
Do you not know that Football is played everywhere in the world and that the game you lot play is a vile monstrous bastardisation [as is your language] of a fine ENGLISH traditional game ‘Rugby’. ‘Football’ which gives you a hint of how it is played in its title, is a sport which is played by using the Feet and not the hands. Furthermore, the game the rest of the world plays is not ‘Soccer’ pronounced by colonials a ‘saccur’ and any refutation of this simple fact will result in stern action being taken by the Football Police so you have been warned. Finally Football is commonly known across whole world as 'The Beautiful Game' The game you lot play is a device of Satan.
Oh by the way, go Bronco’s go. :)

Daunte did look very good until the 4rth quarter. I think your "Fins" have a good team. Pittsburgh is the best run stopping team in the league so today’s game is a poor measurement of how good your teams run offense is. I bet the "Fins" win 10 or 11 games and maybe a wild card birth. But your right about them not being a Super Bowl team yet.
Oh by the way, who watched the pregame? MAN did the city of Pittsburgh look fantastic. *wipes a tear* GOD I love living here. |

Re: FOOTBALL!!!!!! Posted: 08 Sep 2006 12:39 AM |
I just want to know who has the Daunte Culpepper switch.
Until the 4th quarter, he was mobile, accurate, and made perfect decisions.
Then, bang, switch thrown.... and he looked rattled.
The Polamalu pick wasn't so bad. He started down CC a little too much, but the throw was good, and Polamalu made a great play on the ball. But he was covered, and Daunte needed to be looking elsewhere.
... the Porter pick was a little worse. Pressume really started to get to him later on.

Re: FOOTBALL!!!!!! Posted: 08 Sep 2006 05:32 AM |
Okay, Palamalu is one of, if not the best, safety in the league. Him and Porter are probably my favorite players in the NFL (well, also Big Ben).
That Porter pick really shouldn't have happened, but when you're dealing with a team like Miami, passes like that area going to happen.
There was also the Ike pick that should have happened in the endzone, but dang butterfingers couldn't hold on. If Ike could hold on, he'd be in the Ty Law range of CBs, but a CB that can't hold onto a pick is near worthless. And, for Ike, that's a dang shame cause he is really good.
Anyway, we were lucky to win that game. I thank the defense (with automatically means Polamalu and Porter) and ol'Willy. Cause even though Ben doesn't win games like a Manning, he's a presense that needs to be accounted for.
Thank you Charlie. |

Re: FOOTBALL!!!!!! Posted: 08 Sep 2006 08:06 AM |
| I don't know why anyone would be suprised that Duante fell apart in the 4th quarter. He did it for the Vikings for how many seasons? The guy does not handle high pressure situations very well at all. Heck, the Dolphins O Line was actually giving him fairly decent time for many of his passes. He just doesn't seem to think well in the pocket near the end of the game. |

It was a big surprise to me. The Dolphins had been moving the ball well in the 2nd and 3rd quarters then Duante just fell apart.

Beginning of pro football this weekend is big, but nothing compared to #1 vs. # 2: OSU vs. Texas...
Hook 'em Horns!!!!
Our defense should be good enough to slow down Troy Smith, Ted Ginn, etc. and our O-line should be carving up holes in their relatively inexperienced D...
At least, I hope so... |
