Gold Items Posted: 05 Aug 2006 09:09 PM |
Sorry for starting a new thread over something small, but I couldn't find one that matched what I wanted to whine about.
I think that craftable gold armor, shields, and helms should be sellable for more than normal counterparts, since they're made of gold. Right now, what you get is an enhancement penalty of -1 to the item you've crafted from gold, making a gold shield worth just slightly less than a wooden shield. Sure, gold stuff isn't meant to be bashed, so the penalty makes sense, and I understand that the Make Stuff Happen team is understaffed and overworked. Even so, it would be nice to see the monetary value of gold items inflated a bit. They are made out of gold, after all. |

"gold" items will disappear in a future revision of cnr objects, although gold may be a required metal for certain powers with items.

Gold is a very soft metal, I would imagine any weapon or armour made from it would be next to useless. Ceremonial uses only, I would guess.
In days of yore a gold coin would be bitten to ensure its authenticity, teeth could make an indent in it, or bend it. Not something I would like to try, but they were pretty dumb back then |

So Dana will put a ghoul's fingers in her mouth and eat them, but she wouldn't bite down on a gold coin? ;) |

I think there are some qualitative differences between Dana and the woman who uses the alias "Vulpina". I do not know this with any certainty but from the occassional tells we exchange it seems she is much fonder of cake than Dana would ever be. Her diction is also much more refined as I expect from those on the right side of the pond. |

Bah, what fun is it to differentiate between RL and Vives?...
All right, I probably should have, "this coming from the woman whose character will put ghoul's fingers in her mouth..."
And yes, Vulpina has been a delight to talk to OOC and I will second (and join her) in her apparent love of cake...

to which part, Yggz? that it will dissapear, or that it will be required for certain powers?
I think the fact he added that it may be a required metal for certain powers indicates that it will be around for things like jewelry.
the way I see it... jewelry is more about what gems are in em, than what metal it's made of.. so I never thought of them as gold items |

Really? So, instead of saving up for some really, really nice for a girlfriend; like a pair of sapphire earrings set in 14-carot gold, I could simply go cheap and get tin or copper settings with the same gems?
Dang! To think of all that wasted, wasted money.

Yeahyeahyeah! moremoneymoremoney! Leave it and increase value! Yesyesyes! Gold is tough to craft anyways, right?! moremoneymoremoney!

Hey Henesua, watch it bub! I'm from the Wild West and I resemble that remark! My Grt. Grt. Grandfather a circuit rider on the N.Am. West Coast. Wild West INDEED!
"Right side of the pond!" Of all the nerve! As if there were a WRONG side of the pond! And it's an ocean: the Atlantic to be specific... bloody emperialist Brits: the world is so small to them now, they call oceans ponds! =P
((And yeah, Vulpina is one of my fondest inclusions of the players here. One reason is that in the little we know of her from RL shows that she doesn't really have filed teeth or eat fingers... or speak orc --that I know of... or talk with an Oliver Twist street slang. It's all just quality RP. YEAH BABY, YEAH! =P ))
