Death Question Posted: 29 Sep 2003 05:27 PM |
If any Dm/builder could help me with this problem it would be great.
I was exploring the area Buckshire Ruins when a very upset bear attacked me and killed me, he knocked my hps to -4 or -5, so I waited till I bled off till -11 so I could respawn. After bleeding to -11 the box for respawn appeared but said I had been damaged beyond repair and only offered the options of 'Load Game' (which of course doesn't work) and 'Exit Game' but no 'Respawn' option. Hoping I was bugged I logged out and logged in twice, both times I immediately died (which I expected) but it still didn't offer a respawn option. Did I meet some requirement for permanent death? Or am I bugged? I really hope that I just got a bugged death, any information would be greatly appreciated.

| Sounds like a bug to me, unfortunatly I have no clue what on earth could cause it. I'm afraid you'll have to wait for a DM to get you or something. If you drop into IRC, we can get it sorted I'm sure. |

The other thing it may be is that you have a RIP gem in your inventory. A RIP gem is a way to not allow a PC to respawn, and thus be perma-dead. But this is usually used for NPCs to keep them from respawning. Did you pick one up in your travels?

| Heh, I examined it on the ground and never picked it up. I thought it might be cursed and be undroppable. Nice of you to experiment for us and find out that it isn't, Jade Night. :P |
Dieties preserve us from the evil chaotics named Lag, Crash, and Server Reset. PCs: Loli Dankirk (Ftr 18/Brd 8.5 @ 1777 hrs) left Vives for Origins; Gnora Gnombody (Sor 5 @ 54 hrs) and Amanda Stark (Wiz 3 @ ~10 hrs) left Vives for Feline Providence. |

I don't think I picked up any RIP gems, but anything is possible. Hehe if I make it back i'll avoid that bear...
I'll try to track down a DM then, or have Cela let me know if a DM is on and hopefull get it fixed.
Thanks for the input everyone. Hope to see you in game.

Stop by IRC, since that'll be your best bet to find a DM and get them IG to look at the issue.

I just checked in the database and you do have a RIP gem in your inventory. You'll most certainly require a DM IG to remove it from your inventory in order to respawn.

Helpful tip, all you fun-loving Vivesians...
If you see one of these on the ground, don't pick it up. Contact a DM for proper disposal.
That is all. |
