Posted: 10 Jan 2006 01:32 PM So hum... Lets start by the good news. Im well, I huh... well I got nice presents for christmas...and huh..I go see King Kong tonight. *sigh* Bad news is that well...my computer was killed by his own power supply yesterday. So....huh... exactly when I wanted to enter the server *suspicious look at some Righteous sword growling and turns back the attention to the topic* I HOPE I will have my computer very soon... with his original stuff except the power supply of course *drumroll* if not then...I will have to buy...another one...*winces* I will try my best to check the forum meanwhile and write in the forum with a keyboard that I hate. *nods* See you soon!!!! Kim Hope to see you soon! As for the power supply, are you sure it is earthed? Can it get rid of any electricity it might not perhaps not need? Basically, what you need is a fuse with metal things in them to guide the unneeded electricity off. Most of the computer's powersupplies are all three-pronged.. so... well, they make 3-2 prong converters, but, chances are, is that Nessa's computer is strapped into a surge protector power strip of some sort, and she's got it plugged into one of the few three prong outlets in her house. *considers* Anyways, one of the reasons I play on this crap computer is because the computer I was supposed to get (Before this computer was given as a graduation gift) Was zapped fried by a faulty power supply my Dad had taken from another computer... fried a 2 gigahertz processor (which was big back then, top of the line) and a GeForce 4 (also top of the line) that I was SUPPOSED to be using... so... I'm sad, and my computer still sucks .... So I know how you feel, stupid power supplies. Take Jago's Advice (Gnimini's catastrophe, I think) and make sure you buy a really reliable powersupply from an important brand-name, because it has the power to destroy all your other equipment. Posted: 16 Jan 2006 03:06 PM If everything else in the computer is fine just go out and buy a new powersupply. Be careful though, everyone will try and sell you the most expensive top of the line model that can handle a TON of power. Check to see what your computer needs and buy something around that level. If you buy something too powerful it could fry your computer by accident. I swear all premade computers you buy from dell,bestbuy, ect are specifically designed to destroy themselves in some way right after the warranty expires. The sad part is that each individual part would still be on warranty if you would have bought them individually and put the computer together yourself. One of the biggest problems with computers is dust (my personal oppinion). Dust gets inside the computer and will clog up the heat sinks and fan outlets causing the computer to run hotter than it should which causes parts to wear out MUCH faster. If you buy your computer premade you cannot open it up to clean it out without voiding the warranty but if you build your own you can monkey with it all you want and each individual part will still be on warranty. I built my own computer years ago and all i do is keep replacing parts as they go bad or get old. THe ones that go bad are normally alwayse on a warranty that is much longer than anything a store will give you for a complete PC. If you want to consider bulding your own PC you can make one with far greater spec's than any store bought PC for about 40% less cost. Everyone makes it sound difficult but it is actually easier to put together than sweedish furnature. Browse the warehouses for overstock clearances and you can pay even less.
