So long, and thanks for all the fun
Posted: 04 Sep 2005 03:16 AM
Not an easy post to write, amazing the amount of emotion this place can still make me feel.

But I am sorry to say my time here is done. I will still be around in irc, lurking on the forums, keeping in touch with people. I -very- rarely might pop IG as a player or DM to help Sol with stuff or just see Ara's latest amazing changes.

But I have finally decided it is time to move on, and it is very unlikely I will ever resume any kind of active role here as a DM or player again. I would like to make absolutely clear this is fully my decision, and is based solely on the following factors...one being RL pressures, and the other being plain and simple burn out. Nothing more to it than that.

Over a year and a half here, and a hell of a ride. But I just cant find the spark any more, and as such is time for pastures new.

The DM team is more solid and overflowing with creativity than at any time I have known it. It has made this decision so much easier knowing I really can leave, and not be in any way harming this amazing PW.

To the two PCs who are involved in following the instructions on a certain scroll, keep at it. Unless you hear otherwise from the DM's, I expect your quest remains unaffected.

To the "underbelly" of Vives, sorry I cannot finish off the tale of the masks. But hopefully it will resume one day.

My other DM "responsibilities" will be well taken care of. So no worries there.

I could write a very long list of thanks for some truly fantastic memories. Naming so many names this post would go on for a ridiculously long time. Suffice to say, I have been truly overwhelmed by the level of rp the players here exhibit. Long may it continue. It really is true, the more you put into your characters here, the more you immerse yourself in the feelings of this being a real world, not a game of mechanics and numbers, the more you get back. And wow, do you really get an amazing experience back!

Anyway, before this turns into an incessant stream of babble...'nuff said, really.

Thank you all,

Sirac

Wow, not really expecting this post to be from you Sirac.

But, thanks for all the fun and it's too bad to see you move on but it is of course understandable.

"Said Underbelly of Vives"

I must say this is some sad news. So many run ins with your characters from Fengus meeting Muga at the beauty contest in the Port....Jessup and Breathdrinker....the Fire Knives....the plots with the Naruthians...of course the Mask plot which actually scared the living shite out of me you bastard! You will truly be missed Sirac. You made it extremely fun for the characters that like to work in the darker parts of the server. While the server is chalk full of great DMs and events its still tough to see one of the old school move on. All your hard work was appreciated and will not be forgotten. I wish to thank you for everything you have brought to the server! Youll be missed terribly!!!

Best of luck to you and Pool in the future

So long Sirac! I really enjoyed all the events you ran. I hope you can find the spark again someday and come back to us. I am sure Vives is losing a great player and Dm. I wish you good fortune in what ever you do next. We will keep the home fires burning.

I have not been here for long, have only seen you a few times IG. You will be sorely missed Sirac. If ever RL gets too much or even if you only want to get away for a while, you know were we are.

I will miss you friend. There is still so much as yet unfinished in this mirrored game of life. We will meet again.

Do not ask of them questions. You will receive three answers, all of which are true and horrifying to know.

It´s a pity to see you go, you´ve been the one dragging me here with your 'advertising' post, and I had lots of fun playing with you on the few rare occasions and through your events and all the foreplay you put up for them. Thanks for the fun, and for helping me fleshing out my characters, especially Aurelya. Take care and hop in now and then. :)

Sirac, I've been through a lot with you, We've had our fun, and our disagreements...

I was telling a friend IG a few weeks ago that of all the players/Dm's in Vives, over time, most of my interaction has actually been with you, and your characters, and your events, despite time zone differences. Through and through, to the end, I'd like you to know that I appreciated all that you've done for me, and my characters, personally, from helping me with Daimon's quests, to kicking me out of the server when I'd fallen asleep at the keyboard after not sleeping for a week.

I enjoyed our experiences together, and I saw a lot of players thrive in Vives because of your direction, companionship, and commitment. If anyone needs a break, it's probably Paul (*grins*) but if anyone deserves a break more than him, it's you. I hope things are well for you, and your pastures are greener wherever you head to.

I cant think of what to say man, this mod just wont be the same with you gone. Ill never forget you though, in this time, the memory of the times we roleplayed together. When I think of this module and those times, Ill remember Sirac.. and Muga.
Thank you for everything you did here too man. With me and my pcs.
*tears stream down*

I know I was an asshole and hard to deal with alot. I am so sorry now thinking about all of it. I hope your life is a beauty filled one man.

gutted to here the news pal, GMT times wont be the same without your DM input.
i loved your subtle sense of humour particularly when i thought i was the only person online and was off loading a quantity of wands of sleep at the four winds , i walked outside several wands the lighter and a strange character aproached me, uttered some inane banter and gave me a gift....... a wand of sleep. class

I understand about the burnout :-/ . I thought I would find the spark of playing again, but alas, nothing ever came of it. Add to that also changes in RL...WinkWell...

Anyway, this isn't about me, it's about you. I want to say that I had loads of fun playing with you, both as a player and the few times I was on again when you were DM'ing (mostly since my burnout dates from that, not that the two are relatedWink).

Whatever new horizons you'll go reconnoiter, have fun doing so and good luck! Pyrrha will miss that bootiful half-orc and so will XaranthirSmiley.

Cheers mate!
