*** THE END OF THE WORLD ***
Posted: 31 Aug 2005 02:26 AM
The world nearly ended three days ago. Almost every natural disaster struck all at once, and a terrible ripping sound resounded through all Vives: the sound of the very fabric of reality being shredded and torn asunder.

A furious battle was fought in Gladden Farmlands. Reports vary wildly, but what is known for sure is this: all throughout the lands, tornadoes and hurricanes, freezing blizzards and roaring streams of fire and lava swept through Vives prior to the terrible sound of reality ripping apart.

All priests, and those devoted to any god of Vives, heard their god speaking to them in a fearful voice to stop the madness, stop the fighting, and retreat.

The dread sound was followed by the skies darkening, and the very earth trembling and shaking. Pure, raw, unchecked magical energy swept through the lands, causing wild effects and even transporting people randomly about Vives. Since that day, everywhere across the land, magic has become warped, twisted, unreliable.

The near-cataclysm was followed by a sight never before seen, and in all likelihood a sight none will ever seen again.

As the world plunged into darkness, gargantuan winged shapes of unparalleled majesty took to the skies.

Dragons.

Huge, filling the skies, flying in unison like some great living rainbow to drive back the looming darkness and inevitable end. Their combined roar defied the death screams of the world, and their unity seemed to pull the world together, although not completely. The world stabilised but did not return to normal.

Vives still bears the scars of that incident.

Great fissures mar land that was once unbroken. In other places, the land has become deformed by mountains that had previously not existed. Earthquakes and natural disasters still continue to ravage the lands with never-before-seen intensity. And magic no longer works as it should: magic has become twisted, perhaps irrevocably, by whatever disaster it was that rocked the lands on that fateful day.

((meh... the things the builders do around here just to try to get noticed))

Purpose in life: finding better ways of allowing players to kill themselves. Repeatedly.

FYI: Wild Magic

((

Just to let you know, I've reduced hte severity of the wild magic attack that vives is suffering from.

Low level casters should now be able to cast spells occassionally.

Later on, I will be changing the system so that it affects all casters equally, not just low level ones. It should make things a bit more fun and unpredictable without totally ruining the day for low level casters

Let me know if you have any problems.
