Consequences I - Nariel Posted: 28 Aug 2005 03:25 PM |
The slender elf strolled through the Vale of the Mother, breathing deeply as she walked along the walkways in the crystal clear airs, smiling at the sounds of the birds and the gentle breeze that blew among the hills and trees.
A day at last to rejoice in, after the troubles of months past, one to glory in the gifts of Elbereth.
As she neared the path of Elbereth she paused, smiled warmly to the Warriors nearby and leaned on the railing to look out over her home, marvelling at its beauty.
And fell.
Without a word, without a sound, her staff hit the walkway as the diminutive figure fell and lay still.
With cries of dismay the Warriors on the nearby tower began to run to her aid, but were knocked from their feet as the airs blazed, the skies erupted with flame, tempests, nature and magic gone mad, or so it seemed. The scenery around them seemed to blur as earthquakes shook the ground and the walkways bounced wildly.
The voices, the shouts clear in their minds as the gods drew a halt to whatever was occurring. Sprawled as they were on their stomachs, holding desperately to any handhold they could find, the elves failed to see the winged forms above.
Then calm returned, the winds died and the birds began to sing once more. The Warriors got to their feet staring at each other in confusion and horror, hearing the voices of their colleagues calling from nearby towers.
Then they remembered once more why it was they had begun to run and turned once more to the walkway where Nariel still lay motionless. They hurried over to her, checking her quickly and exhaling with relief as they realised that she still lived. As one ran swiftly to the Grove for aid the other held her gently, staring in confusion at the form of the elven woman that lay limply in his arms, uninjured, conscious, yet… elsewhere. There was no sign of awareness at all. As he turned to look at the Warriors running towards him from the other towers he could only wonder at both what had happened… and what might be to come. |

There is strange talk, rumours one might say, emanating from the Sacred Grove of Ferein.
Nariel still lies silent, unaware, though conscious. All attempts to revive her have failed, by both magical and other means.
It is said, however, that she did have a brief moment of seeming awareness as a result of a prayer led by a visiting druid and spoke just three sentences. The language was unknown to all present, save one word, clearly in elven... "Itarillë".
Rumour also speaks of another name mentioned, though why it should be is unknown. The name Silmarwen is one which is being heard spoken with more regularity.
============================================================
Since the events of four days ago, Ferein has also been troubled by occasional aftershocks as have other areas of Vives. There is talk that strange sounds have been heard from the area where the city of Ferein once stood. Whether this is true is unknown, though it is known that the Guardians of the Lost have seemed uncomfortable, yet unable to offer explanation as to why. |

News and Rumour Posted: 03 Sep 2005 05:37 PM |
And still... almost a week after the events in Icy Vale, Lady Nariel Arnatulie, leader of the druidic Order of Ferein, lies in a waking coma. Conscious by all appearance and yet unaware of anything. Concern among those attending her deepens as all attempts to revive her fail.
No further sound has escaped her lips since she uttered the name Itarillë.
Still, one week on, occasional tremors can be felt throughout Ferein, though seeming centered within the area where the Inner City lies destroyed. Some speak still of strange sounds from beyond the sealed gate, and more. There are rumours that those spirits which wandered in unrest while Ferein was corrupted have been seen again. though when questioned the Guardians of the Lost refuse to speak.
Of equal concern is a new rumour among the elven folk that the Lady Elvalia, normally so often to be seen wandering the paths and glades of Ferein, has not been seen since before the cataclysm.
Though there is nothing like the feeling of despair which prevailed but a few months ago, a feeling of nervousness is apparent among the fair folk... along - it must be said - with one almost of anticipation.
Ferein appears to be waiting... though for what? |
