I've noticed some players speaking in their (text) race languages. As a complete idiot, I have no idea how to implement this. It sounds like a cool and important feature of a world. Can someone post a guide to what players can install and how to use them? Thanks McGurk |

The info can be found here. The tags are artifacts from preexisting PHP-BBCode; ignore them for now, efforts are made toward switching them to the new tags.

as a side note to this (since I did not see this mentioned in the overall summary), DM's can in fact see what you are saying normally within the DM text window, so don't think you need to translate it to us as well. It only hides what you say from other players not of the same race.
Now if only an item/skill/widget could be made to understand other racial speak :P

Agreed Fen,
My rogue char should be able to understand most languages, and especially thieve's cant, which I can understand but not speak, because I am halfling and not human. I don't know if such a thing is possible (based on class or lore or some other thing) but it would more closely resemble the true abilities of the rogue. Don't take this as a bitch, just as an enhancement opportunity. ;)
*EDIT* after looking in more detail into the languages post, which I haven't seen in a while, I see that a lore check of DC20 is made to determine if you can understand another language. Given that most chars in Vives will probably not reach that level of skill, I wonder if it's reasonable to knock that down a bit. */EDIT*
On the whole though, I think the racial speak gives a tremendous RP boost. Just as IRL, if you can speak a language others around you don't understand, it makes for interesting implications all the way around. |

Just as a note, I took a few minutes to remove all of the BB Code stuff and reposted Aria's post without it right below the original post
