Way to skip the intro and more Posted: 30 Jun 2003 12:37 AM |
Not all of it, just the bit where you're on your knees and have to wait to get up, when you've already read all of that. Maybe some command word could be issued when you've done it once so you can end it and move onto the important part.
Also, there didn't seem to be a way to get out of the conversation about information on Vives. |

But if you are starting a new character then they haven't seen the intro before. ;)
I think for the time that must have been spent making the intro it's worth seeing again. |

Considering the whole thing is beyond IC, no ones seen it anyway. The first time it's great, but like a lengthy flash intro, it's nice to be able to bypass it, same for the second one.
I think it's important that it's there, but there's only really a need for it to be seen once per player, not character. |

I don't think its worth the trouble to go and put in place some sort of function that bypasses the introductory stage at all. At worst your waiting a couple of minutes, so go get yourself a cup of tea or coffee if you don't feel like reading it again.
I think the introduction has an added bonus of deterring players from making "on-the-spot" characters for nefarious ooc means (whatever they may be). |

I personally wouldn't want the option of bypassing the intro to accidentaly slip into someone's hands that comes in fresh and new. Also its not bad to see such a thing again, really enforcing the concept of Vives, PLUS you have a new character, and IC, he would need to know such things and learn as he IS new :P
Plus all I do is hit the "windows" key and go grab some coffee :P

| IC he's not even seeing his birth or prexistence, it's information for the player rather than the character. Either way, A restriction based on player and not character. |

A character exists in your thought, A proper character exists from much thoughts.
Thinking takes time, Much thinking, takes much time.
Just as Raistlin would not fit in the scorched world of Athas, Sabina would not fit in Solamnia.
Characters have a soul, Shaped from the inside by your mind, Molded from the outside by the World. Just like your house is decorated in both aspects, characters need so too.
If you're willing to spend the time in creating your character in Vives, To let her grow, prosper, Story unfold, Surely you wouldn't mind spending the time to let the atmosphere seep in? |

Not really, especially not during the beta test stage. I'd rather get out there and develop my character through interaction and progression than sitting through something I've already seen.
Also, is it just a coincidence i've never gone through it with another person? |
