| How about one in Buckshire? The cart must come right through there, past Perum, on its way from the desert to the coastal road to Port Royale. If Paws rates a stop, why not Buckshire? |

| Because the players need the exercise. We don't want a bunch of fat, balding adventurers in bowling shirts running around, do we? :P |

| I say take out kusin and make perhaps the only travel system travel by boat that operated somewhat like a train schedule. You would have to wait for it to stop at whatever port you are in to get on and may have to wait through several stops to get to you destination. Maybee have pirate attacks sometimes at sea (random). That means only port cities would have stops (large port cities, i doubt ships would make stops at some po-dunk place). |

Well that idea makes sence slink. It comes threw or nearby Buckshire. Maybe the costs of the trip should be somewhat more linked to the distance you travel. Midor -> PR is quite far and hazardous = higher price as Midor -> Paws.
It isn't really necessary however but, i my oppinion, the stop at paws isn't either.

You must have an awfully fast connection and computer, if it only takes you two seconds to transit three areas. But saving time wasn't one of my reasons for suggesting it. |

Re: Another Cart Stop Posted: 08 Feb 2004 03:43 PM |
I do agree with the boat being a much better way of travel. Plus, it can add a seemingly long distance. Have you ever played Dragonrealms? They have a boat schedule that leaves for these mysterious islands.... The boat travels to them and back (I think there's two boats and separate for large cities) but the trip in itself takes nearly an hour!
Not that I would suggest that, but to board the boat, then travel on-board for 10-15 minutes, would add another level of roleplay, the feel of distance being traveled, and a chance for players to interact.
Not that I know how'd you do any of that in NWN, but if it were the case, Auberon may even set up shop on a boat since his audience is GUARANTEED not to walk out *grin*

I'm not waiting 15 mins to move when there's no-one else on the thing with me! =P
Did the DM ever say in PnP "Now we sit about to make sure you realize how far you're moving?"

I'll give up on playing the Newbie card soon I promise, but Kusin is a must for new players.
Could I hell have taken a first level character from PR to Midor (or anywhere else for the matter). Without the chance to explore other cities and some limited surrounds then there would be no way of obtaining exploration XP.
Just my thoughts |
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
