I think Barnas and I came up with a pretty good table of comparison between the Three Sisters.
Naruth: "Hi! I'm beautiful and wonderful and love myself and hold my body to be a temple to my goddess. How can you help me?"
Vilyave: "Hi! I'm beautiful and wonderful and love myself and hold my body to be a temple to my goddess. How can I help you?"
Helkris: "Hi! I'm beautiful and wonderful and love myself and hold my body to be a temple to my goddess. I don't give a crap about any of you one way or the other, since you're all scum under my boot."

so really.. I should make a Vilyavian Cleric, cause she would actually feel compelled to -help- others, and the Helkrisian should be... um...

Love is beauty. Love is light. Love is presents. Lots and lots of presents, recieved by a woman who is, by virtue of being a woman, holy and worthy of worship.
Beauty is obviously Vilyave's forte, since the other two heathen hags couldn't coordinate a color palette for a winter evening formal dinner setting if their pimply, hairy, sagging butts depended on it. Even the Mother Goddess understands that Vil embraces the glorious perfection of nature's offering, complete for the sake of their beauty, without need to try to impose usefulness or meaning on beauty, as though beauty were not an end unto itself.
Light belongs to the realm of air... also Vilyave. And love is just so totally, you know, like, pleasurable and fun and all that kind of good stuff, as long as you don't get all weepy and jealous like Naruth and Helkris. Only weak men with masochistic tendencies want Naruthians and Helkris can only attract yetis. (I hear she likes rubbing her face against the fur.)
Really, I... I just feel *sorry* for Naruthians and Helkrites. They spew emotional retardation like those children in kindergarten who eat the paste then brag about how good it tastes. As though a sunset's beauty must serve a purpose! As though the radiant splendor of an autumn forest could serve selfish ends! As though the pristine purity of a snowcaste meadow must hold the secrets of power! And something about butterflies, too! And unicorns! I love unicorns, especially when they have the twinkley stuff and do that thing? You know, that thing? With the stuff?
And embracing ones inner feminine goddess in order to eschew the yin energies of the universe into a powerful, self-compelling and glorious presence that seeks an equally perfect, divine presence of masculine energy... well, that's Vilyave again! Men are adorable, worthy of praise and petting. As long as they behave, of course...
And nothing says "I love you" like a day at the spa, complete with massage and facial rinse.

Beauty is a divine gift, but it is not an end. It is a tool, one of many which can be used to achieve your ends. Vilyavians speak of love, as if other people are something to enter into an equalitarian relationship with. Only the followers of Naruth are your equals, only Naruth is above you. The others are pawns; it is your divine right to use them to further your own ends. After all, do the strong not seperate themselves from the weak? It is the mark of the weak that they expect another to do it for them.
The body is the cradle of the mind; and it is right that our minds are beautiful as well as our bodies. It is right that we use both for our ends, not simply our bodies in the manner of a cheap whore or Vilyavian.
Be strong, and embrace freedom! Sieze the day, and make your own destiny! Do not listen to the pathetic lies of airheaded Vilyavians, or cold hearted Helkrissians. Be passionate and joyful in all things, and walk your own path, creating it as you go, with your beautiful head held high, in the knowledge that Naruth walks with you! -and never mind the trail of fools you abandon behind you; the strong use the weak. Beauty is a fiction of light, beautiful people merely splashes in the pond that is time. Love will lead great warriors down dead end roads, and fleshy females to frivolous flirting and foolish forefeits. Unicorns Are Absurd. Sleazy silky skirts and painted cheek charms look ridiculous, you probably do too. You dont actually believe your prim physique is why the hounds keep howling? Howling is the nature of hounds. Fawning is for the petty, but don't let the puff-up go to your head, you're petty too. Getting what you want will never be getting what you want.
To get anything done the right way, you have to do it the right way, at the right time, with a cool head, and a keen frame of mind. That the other goddesses take themselves seriously is proof enough. Perfection is a design, the pattern of every snowflake, the soft curve of every snowbank. A cool head and a sharp tongue will extinguish childish hysterics of a sucklings spat. If you expect your Goddess to coddle you, you probably spoiled a long time ago. True peace is the touch on the face of the soft fleece of a yeti's wool.
If you watch carefully enough, you can see the face of a high-nosed ninny plow into the ground after a stumble over a simply lain stone to snag cloud-high-head-holders from their lofty eyes-to-the-skies fool's paradise. Watch even more carefully, and you'll see an oversized kiddie-cribbie challenge a stone's wits in a contest of insults and irritation.

I suppose I should clarify...
It's more fun to play a follower of Naruth than Helkris, when it's only ever going to be a secondary character
If I was going to play a follower of one of the sisters as my primary PC.. I probably would go Helkris. After all, I did make my Cleric of Helkris first... but with not very much time spent playing her, I couldn't do it justice. But the Naruthian.. easy to just jump in and out with her on occasion, and still cause plenty of mayhem. |
