LOL

Doesn't quite explain the unlocking of madame setine's cupboards without taking anything within, but cool :)

As long as you don't play it like you play your one on Thain ;)
3.Re: DMs: announce to party members the objects picked up

If I may interrupt Q's conversation with Q ;)

Part of the reason Thain went with a party message initially, was that NWN assumes you are sharing more information with the rest of the party/you're more observant of other party members than you are with other characters. You always know where they are, you know what kind of shape they're in HP-wise etc.

Adding a party message is very quick script-wise.

I think we later added a distance check to that system for ...

hmm.. too many to recall :p

As yasmyn mentioned there's bobbin the gnome paladin saving the day in his underpants, first words he says when the rest of the party finally catch up are: "so, did you bring my armour?"

I played a very luckless elven fighter-mage once, his story's pretty much told by the deaths, which include falling three miles down a pit - unable to help, the rest of the party who are gliding down controllably, cast faerie fire on him so they could ...

Great idea! - I think I need to attend one of these :p

Maybe a quick run through of the most useful widgets would be good.
Tips for bumping into people.
Tips for getting DM interaction/rewards (ie what the DMs look for)
Maybe a brief run down on some areas - not so much the history stuff, but the builders intentions behind them - for example giving a few egs. of newbie areas, tough areas etc.
Any background stuff that all players should know (there's already a lot ...

Nah, delayed effects are always fun. :p

"You draw a card. Nothing seems to happen."

"Ok.. draw another one"

"Again, nothing seems to happen."

"Hmm. Must be duds"

One week later....

"Ahhh I've got green toes!"

"So's that dragon over there...."

IMO I agree with the above - when it is the players vs the world it feels very competitive and players start having to worry about mechanics and so on - it can feel like a game that needs to be 'won'.

However if you have a world that consists of both good and evil forces outside of the players then you vastly improve world immersion and give the feeling that vives is a living breathing world that still goes on even if the players aren't around. That way the players get to feel like ...
9.Re: recent server unavailability

Are there any problems with the website as well?

Yes, it's the same thing - the website is hosted on the server that the ISP is playing about with the connection to. As it's a dynamic dns you can host the website from any machine as long as you tell the dns server to point vives.dyndns.org to it.

Given the website is working at this moment in time I guess they've either been given a temporary reprieve by the ISP or someone is ...
