| 1. | Re: IMPORTANT: New travel system Posted by Voodoo Chile on 3/13/2004 3:12:27 AM Well I'm still a new player, so I have no idea what the old system was like, but I'll comment on the current travel system.
The pros: Realism
The cons: Realism
It's kind of cool having this great distance between places enforced via game mechanics. On the other hand, it can be a huge pain in the a$ for a form of entertainment. There's absolutly nothing worse than arriving at a dock after dusk when the boats don't run, waiting until morning, only to be told ... |

| 3. | The XP Catch-22 Posted by Voodoo Chile on 3/7/2004 10:49:38 PM In the past few days I've had a net xp gain of 0. I've died about 5 times, wiping out all the work I've done. What's happened as a result is that I've depleted the combat xp I get from killing the monsters I should be killing, so I'm in a position where I'm pretty much fighting for less than 10xp at a time. Usually the things that give me 10xp (at this point) can kill me pretty easily unless things go well.
Anyways, I was wondering if there was some way out of this catch-22. ... |
| 4. | Re: The XP Catch-22 Posted by Voodoo Chile on 3/9/2004 12:08:44 AM Well I've pretty much absorbed a lot of the exploration xp that's appropriate without going into really dangerous places, and that's all been squandered by my recent string of deaths. Also gone is the xp from DM quests too, and all my money... I also did 3 of the solo quests for xp and all that's gone too. A very frustrating few days to say the least, probably about 10-12 hours work for a net gain of 0 xp, a loss of about 10,000 in gold, and the depletion of a lot of the potential xp out ... |
| 5. | Re: The XP Catch-22 Posted by Voodoo Chile on 3/13/2004 2:52:54 AM Well to clarify, I don't solo all the time. Many of my deaths were in a party, and I'm still in my xp black hole, so being in a party isn't the cure-all. I get involved in the massive party hunting groups all the time too, but being low level I don't get to do much other than cast cure minor wounds here and there. It's still a lot of fun though, but I can't say that it's an efficient source of xp, as it's usually between 1 and 10 xp per kill (usually 1).
Anyways, I think one of ... |
| 6. | What's With All The Crashing? Posted by Voodoo Chile on 3/4/2004 12:04:59 AM I've only been playing here for about 3 or 4 days, and on at least 2 of those days, the server's crashed an insane amount of times. I think in the past one hour it's crashed 3 times...
Has it always been like this or is this a new problem? Is there a solution in sight, or is it expected to continue indefinitely? |
| 7. | Re: What's With All The Crashing? Posted by Voodoo Chile on 3/4/2004 12:08:32 AM Also when the server comes back up if any cleric is feeling generous, there are 3 dead newbies who died a horrible lag death in Mirgul. =) |
| 8. | New Player Questions - Help For Biography Posted by Voodoo Chile on 2/29/2004 3:10:41 PM Hey all, I've been researching your server and it looks great, just from what I've read on the forums and the players handbook. I can't wait to jump in game, but wanted to ask a few questions to help craft a coherent biography.
For starters, I plan on playing a lawful neutral human cleric. I've read through the PHB but couldn't really find something that fit my race and alignment. Any suggestions on this?
Also, any suggestions on a home-town? I don't want to do ... |
