1.Re: Your Funniest RP Experience?
Posted by Velox on 8/14/2005 9:56:30 AM
(Salt and Alton, walking around half-naked and lost in the Frobozz Mines, and under a spell that prevents them from putting on any other clothes)

I was lucky enough to witness the aftermath - and that was easily the funniest thing I've seen in Vives. Followed by Alton attempting to polymorph into something else to try and cover the fact that he was naked. Brilliant. :D

Norran Wildman. Not that you'd ever want to, of course.... *looks sheepish*

Hi all....I'm another just joined.Smiley My character is Norran Wildman, a half-elven ranger. I've already met a couple of you in-game....including a rather scary, yet insane wizard, LOL. This server looks unbelievable, and plays even better, from what I've seen so far.

No, it was a wizard wearing orange called....Calimus?

Caminus, of course. How could I forget...

Oh, it wasn't too frightening. He was certainly a strange character though. I'm still looking for that Dizzanitacious Tree.

Not losing sleep....I logged on last night with the idea of exploring a little bit for half an hour. It was two and a half hours later that I logged off, bleary-eyed, but having enjoyed every minute of it.

As for Norran....when he went to sleep that night, the one thing he did *not* do was count ...
6.Re: Blood and Nightmares - The players perspective
Posted by Velox on 8/2/2005 7:59:21 AM
Norran lay back, attempting to put the night's events into perspective.

They had wanted information - and had got it. Too much, perhaps. The answers had yielded questions of their own. Such revelations often do. Lex was an enigma. What was his role? Who does he answer to? A simple bard. Norran smirked in the darkness. But he had offered the information willingly, and of his own volition. That perhaps spoke more loudly than the tale he spun.

Syn....Maldovia. They ...

That's horrible V; sounds like it could've been a lot worse as well. I can attest to the fact that your wits haven't been too badly affected anyway ;)

Get well soon!
8.Roleplaying death and resurrection
Posted by Velox on 8/30/2005 8:55:22 PM
Never too sure how to do this. What do you do if someone's died with you in a party, and you know full well they've respawned and gone to the Seven Sisters or wherever....do you assume they're still dead half an hour/an hour later? Do you acknowledge that possibly someone might have gotten them from the brink and they may be at the Sisters now?

Also, what happens days/weeks afterwards, when you meet them again for the first time? Does the character fall off his chair in surprise, ...

Thanks - some interesting theories there. I guess Paul's Gandalf-esque method is a useful one, and not really something I'd thought of before.

The sort of scenario I'm looking at happened last night, and prompted this thread - a group of five of us went down into the crypts underneath Port Royale, and were surprised by some seriously nasty baddies. 3 of us got out....there was no way we could've retrieved them without becoming vampire food, so we legged it.

In real ...
10.Level requirements for items
Posted by Velox on 8/25/2005 5:23:45 PM
I was just wondering - I've been bitten by this a couple of times now, having bought items that are 'too good' for my character. Is there any way to have the level requirement show in the item description, or some other way of letting the player know without him trying it? I bought some armour for one of my characters today, only to find out that he wasn't skilled enough to use it. As it turns out, he's only one level below what it needs - but it's still mildly annoying, given that the ...

Thanks Sirac and Sol, that gives me some idea at least. The moral of the story - don't buy anything for more than 8000 gold, I guess :D

Yup, happy birthday Sol!
13.Re: Evaluation: "Time Out" Protocol
Posted by Velox on 8/23/2005 8:53:08 AM
Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the event last night. With the time-stop 'cutscenes' - I thought the first one worked in Brandibuck worked very well. I think it was necessary in this case - however, I think care should be taken about using such things in future, as it makes the plot considerably more linear, by not allowing character interaction. But yes, in this case, it worked very well.

The second one, 'skipping' the journey....I dunno, personally I've never liked this. I ...
14.2 weeks on Vives....colour me hooked
Posted by Velox on 8/7/2005 7:39:32 PM
Hi guys,

Without wishing to come across all gushy, I'd just like to say how fantastic Vives is.

As an outsider coming into NWN MP for the first time really, but wanting to roleplay, Vives was exactly what I was looking for. Friendly characters (if a little insane on occasion) a gorgeous world, a rich sense of history and culture, an identity, a fluid political and ideological situation....DM quests, DM's being around even when there aren't quests, who have some fun ...

Hmmm. Having a bit of trouble registering on those forums....I'll keep trying though, and post as soon as I'm able. I guess I probably should post seeing as that thread was what convinced me to check Vives out in the first place... :)
16.Re: About drums along the river

I enjoyed it too. Although my character ended up alone and dead in the woods. I would have stayed longer, but it was 1.30 by that time and I really had to go to bed!

Thanks all anyway, I really enjoyed it.

It says 31st in the list thread - I assume it is the 30th? Only if it's Sunday night, I can't do it.
19.Re: Low Level Role-Play Group
Posted by Velox on 7/28/2005 8:28:35 AM
Ah, I missed this thread before now. It was a while before I clicked that it was Achaeil with the celestial thingies as well....then I remembered the biography thread, and that we had just met you. It was certainly dramatic though :)

But yeah, Norran's definitely a (very) low level character, so sign me up.
