1.Re: The return of the Guyver
Posted by Byron on 1/5/2005 9:25:13 AM
((Since the acolades are flowing on the public forum, I figured I'd add my own thoughts.

How Quixotic. I'm very impressed and pleased.))

((Maybe I'll go join Aranel in the corner))

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

"Yes! I always have coffee when I watch radar. You know that"

"I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former room-mate."

"You have the ring, and I see your Schwartz is as big as mine. Now let's see how well you handle it."

I was a level 1 dwarven fighter, fresh on my first quest. On my first combat ever i rolled a series of critical failures. I broke my weapon.

Thinking quickly, I drew my back up weapons (a good dwarf is always prepared) and swung. I rolled more critical failures, and broke my second weapon.

Ever get the feeling that you should have stayed in bed?

7.Re: The Tears Event

Kudos to the DM team for pulling off this event. Byron didn't get to participate much (I'm one of those people that can't donate a lot of time to Vives) but overall, it seemed like everyone had a good time.

I've never been one to like large groups. There is so much opportunity for character development that is lost when a large group gets together. The small interactions are what I like in roleplaying. The subtle looks, the gentle touch, the glances that speak volumes...these are ...

We could call it a religious organization to take advantage of a tax free status.....

Hey, I'm just sayin...

I'm sorry, Sirac. I dind't mean to sound overly critical. But I suspect the general idea of my comments was recieved by you, so I appreciate that. I imagine coordinating DM's and playes is a difficult prospect at best. I'm not saying I know how to do what I was sayin.

Eh, just ignore me.

Here another one for a new character I plan on starting.

Delucien Saren is his name.

Midoran's will be done.

EDIT: Fixed! The original portriat downloaded as upside down. This one works

Is it possible to change a characters portrait after creation? I found a nice one of Byron I'd like to include.

And how would people feel about me consolidating all the custom portraits here into one zip, a custom portrait pak of sorts? It would be an easier download than wading through this whole thread, and could be updated from time to time. If it would be helpful I could do that.

If you could do that, you'd be my eternal hero.

15.Call to Action: Retaking Haven
Posted by Byron on 3/1/2007 11:43:58 PM
It was time. It was, in fact, far past time.

The call went out to all remaining Heralds, and to all the Herald's allies. In one days time, they would return to Haven. To find survivors and, if necessary, kill any who occupied their home.

((All friends and allies of the Novus Aristi are welcome to assist in the rescue of Haven survivors. This will occur on Saturday, March 3rd at 10 PM CST which is March 4th at 3 AM GMT. If possible, we will start at 9 PM CST, I will ...
16.Re: Questions
Posted by Byron on 1/22/2007 7:27:10 PM
They had met again in Port Royale, and Byron already knew what he wanted from Cedrych. “I am giving you a field promotion to Captain,” said Byron in a crisp, if low, voice. “You are to coordinate relief efforts in Port Royale. Speak with the Queen first, I do not want the Novus Aristi to come without her sanction.”

Cedrych looked surprised, both with Byron’s directness and what he had to say. A field promotion to someone newly indoctrinated in the Aristi faith certainly was an ...

"I thought the Aristi were focused inward," said Cedrych. "How does one find help in finding insight?"

Byron smiled, "Everyone you meet affects you, Cedrych. Your thoughts, your experiences, and even your actions. We are not islands, and though our journey to discover the Greater Good is unique for each individual, the path is touched by many." He shifted his weight from one foot to the other and look up, "Without your influence, Cedrych, the ...

Letters to Father Certos

Antonin Smith stopped short of the entrance to the command plateau. A strong gust of cold air bit into his face, and he pulled close his wool hood. The Herald guarding the plateau entrance, a broad-shouldered man with a clean shaven face and sharp eyes seemed unaffected by the cold. He waited impatiently, and Smith smiled slightly, felt ...

The order was made, and soon carts of aid, as well as healers and Heralds of Aristi, were wheeling towards Brandibuck. But bad things, as they so often do, come in packages.

Next was the attack on Port Royale. Aid was sent there, with the approval of the Queen, but the effort was already taxing the Aristi resources. Than came reports from Bregodigm, and the dwarven refugees living a stones throw away at Ikarian Bay. And finally, the Midor Farmlands.

Reports were ...

He pressed against the wall, hoping he would not be noticed. They were not subtle, though who pursued him. Their armor clanked loudly in the otherwise quiet streets and they shouted orders to each other without concern for silence. “Over there,” shouted one, “He went down the alley!”

Goblin spit cursed Bok. The man was right, he had fled down the alley, and now the clamor of three armored men was getting closer. He pressed harder against the wall, irrationally hoping that the ...

True Colors - Black

Byron's heart skipped a beat. Maldovia. A place of darkness and despair. Byron's first emotion, before his brain even registered what Grace had said, was of searing pain. Once before he had been laid bare on a table in Maldovia. Mr. Loccard had cut deeply; the scars of which he kept hidden. For an irrational instant, Byron wished that "he" was still with ...

He could not explain why he personally went to seek Jerec. It was something Byron could easily have delegated to someone else, but as with many things in life, he was simply led by an unshakable feeling that, somehow, this was the right thing to do.

Jerec wasn't in the ranger lodge, and the Rangers still remained wary of Byron, Meridia most of all. He had a feeling, though, that the residual hostility would fade given a few more days; it seemed a defensive instinct more than anything ...

24.Supplying Haven
Posted by Byron on 6/21/2006 8:50:03 AM
Yorgan peered through the spyglass he was holding with one hand. With his free hand he rang a bell, raising the alert at Haven. "Wagons approaching," he called to the duty officer below, "lots of them!"

The duty officer nodded and quickly barked orders, "Inform Sir Lorian, and be quick about..." his words died as Byron Lorian approached. Quickly, the duty officer changed tone, "Sir Lorian," he said crisply, "Several wagons approach from ...

*The following letter was sent to Fennigan. It bears the seal of the Novus Aristi and the personal seal of High-Paladin Byron Lorian*

This letter of Marquee is hereby given to Fennigan, who in good faith operates now as an agent of the Novus Aristi. The Novus Aristi do support the plan to refinforce and take command of forces in Buckshire, as a defensive measure against the Atalan incursions. Let it be known that, in truth, the Novus Aristi will come to the defense of all who request ...
