Community of Vives Posted: 15 Feb 2005 10:46 AM |
I just wanted to say a little note of applause to the community as a whole.
One thing I particularly like about Vives has nothing to do with the NWN engine but this forum. There is a great sense of community where there is the freedom not only to discuss issues and share stories but also to have some fun.
Some of the posts here have nothing to do with the game but just have the air of a community of friends, many of which have never met one another. There is a real sense of personality and humour here outside of the NWN engine, and not and over rigid and regulated "We must GAME GAME GAME" like too many other servers.
I enjoy the forum as much as the game and thats because of the people here and not the characters. I think thats a real credit. |

Oh, man. You know you have spent too long on Vives when the last thing that crosses your mind when you fall asleep at night out on a bivouac is, "Uh-oh. I wonder which DMs are on right now and what they'll spawn in while I sleep."
...And they spawn in half a squintillion mozzies that go directly for your face.
*Nods* I'm on to you! I know you control our real lives too! For shaaaaame. |

Re: Community of Vives Posted: 27 Feb 2005 09:17 PM |
All I can say is that people are a lot more impressionable than they may think. I've taken this to the extreme, let me make some comments and observations:
Almost all the books I read take place C17 - 19, Historic or Historical Fiction I spend much of my time playing RPGs, D&D, or Historic Based Games I am a histo-buff The music I listen to is anything before 1995, with an exception or two I play the fife
Now, for how this effects my persona:
Common words/phrases include: Bloody hell (even though I'm a yank) Aye, nay, lads & lasses I tend to be heavily biased in the British favor on most historic issues (as many of the books I read are from their point of view) I relate much of what I see/do to history I often wonder what my RL stats are, and if I'll make my saving throw v. _____ (recently it was v. stalling, as I'm learning to drive a standard)
Now, let's apply this to this community:
Because we spend so much time here, it would not suprise me at all if at least someone here: hasn't tried to cast a fireball spell on their own (this is much easier accomplished with an aerosol can and a match than hand motions and gibberish), called their girlfriend by the wrong name (and using a players name, not an ex's) or dreamed about someone elses character (or your own!)
Ermm, I think I'm just sermonizing (I get yelled at for this a lot, especially in the TRR), and I'm not sure how to end this so... *Post* |
