I died permenantly? Posted: 26 Nov 2003 07:02 PM |
My character was mortally wounded in an Inn by an assassin.
Instead of getting the respawn option, it said that my character was injured beyond restoration.
My only options are to load game or to exit game, and loading isn't allowed.
Is this a bug? I'd really like my character to be able to respawn...

| Did you pick up any pretty shinies named "RIP Gem"? A DM can check and see if you did. |
Dieties preserve us from the evil chaotics named Lag, Crash, and Server Reset. PCs: Loli Dankirk (Ftr 18/Brd 8.5 @ 1777 hrs) left Vives for Origins; Gnora Gnombody (Sor 5 @ 54 hrs) and Amanda Stark (Wiz 3 @ ~10 hrs) left Vives for Feline Providence. |

when you are at -25 hp through any death, you are considered too mangled to respawn (No, this is not in the PHB, but will be soon as this was implemented not too long ago). Your options at this point are to A) let the character die, or B) A friendly PC or NPC can still ressurect you if they could normally (taking into account the alignment penalties). So you can still be revived, just not through normal respawn methods.

Tnanever,
It looks like you've picked up an item called a "rest-in-peace chip". What this item does is allows us DMs to keep critters we create from respawning over and over again. Sometimes they get dropped when the beasties die.
I will ask the admins to remove this item from your inventory so that you can respawn. Now that you know of this item, try not to accumulate amy more of them. ;)
UPDATE: When you log in, see if you can grab a dm, either by using the "DM Tell" function, or come into irc and get one, and we'll fix you up. |
