NWN 1.69 Posted: 11 Jan 2008 04:21 PM |
| Just a quick question. Will Vives be updating to the 1.69 patch when it's out of beta? |

We will as long as it doesn't take us too long......... all our energies right now are focused on Vives 2, so we'll have a look and see how long it would take us, if it's not too painful/doesn't use too many resources we will.
Can't promise anything though.

| We won't be adding any new content in V1, so I don't think it will be much of a problem. |

It has ridable horses! at the very least, the horses on roller skates can be replaced, though I'd love to see some jousting going on. And new armor parts, and so much more!
But with my connection and the size of the patch, I'll probably never be able to update. |

Anyone for or against?
For the sake of being able to upgrade to play some mods with the new content I'd say for. Plus I'm all for horses that aren't on roller skates if we can manage. |

Re: NWN 1.69 Posted: 15 Jul 2008 08:07 AM |
I'm for - there is a 1.69 beta patch available for macs, so far seems to work and if that is buggy I can still play on my windows partition.
Paul, Bioware says there is no universal binary patch for the mac, and it won't be produced until after the final 1.69 patch is released. Does that sound like trouble?
Aside from these concerns, I say go. I'm a total whore for new costume parts. Oh, and I want Vrodo to take some levels in purple dragon knight... In fact, lets all take a few levels in purple dragon knight! Who's with me?! |

Hmm... the mac 1.69 patch has not been released yet then?
We'll wait until after the mac patch is released as I am not sure of the beta patch for mac will work with the released 1.69 patch for PC.

The 1.69 mac beta discussion topic, and the link to beta 1.69 client updates, is out-dated.
1.69 is in release for PC, Mac, and Linux clients (see the note below on client localization).
You can find the patch status for all three clients (and the patches themselves) on Bioware's patch page (accessed on their site, via the left hand side navigation buttons under "Downloads").
The direct url is: http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch.html
Localized client updates: You'll note that Bioware indicates on the patch page: "The French, Italian, Spanish and German 1.69 patches are not currently translated."
There are no v1.69 clients posted for those locales. I don't know if that's an issue for Vives' players/admins. In all cases, please ensure you download/install the patch specific to your client version, and specific to whatever expansion packs you've installed.

Thats great!
I know we're not looking at any of this new content for Vives but seriously.... can we fix the skating horses at least? Its just... awful watching them glide around all straight legged. The Jester may tell the best scary story in Vives, or NWN for that matter, but the horses are what really freak me out. Talion might be scared of some lich, but me.. you turn everyone in town into a freakish floating horse and I'd run screaming from the room. *shudders* |

I'd like to see something done to the crafting to enable some of the new armor parts, those new overcoats are nice, and the horses as well. Midoran Shufflers, frightening breed of equine. Though the new horses are pretty high-poly I think.
New tilesets as well, hey, maybe all this nice new content will tempt a builder or two to make some changes after all. |

I'd be all for new content I just assume all the builders are working on Vives 2 at the moment. I'll be hitting the toolset myself as soon as I update to play around with the new features, but as much fun as seeing a final update to Vives 1 I just can't get my hopes up for it. |

| I'm fairly sure the last digit of the module name has been creeping up. Has anyone tried installing the update yet? Will vives actually stop working if I download the new patch? |

Re: NWN 1.69 Posted: 04 Aug 2008 06:43 PM |
For those who want to check out 1.69:
1. Make a copy of your nwn folder (it's usually C:\Program Files\Neverwinter Nights\nwn\ but your results may vary.) 2. Rename this backup copy to something like nwn-1.68. 3. Update to NWN 1.69. 4. You will now be running NWN 1.69 but unable to play Vives.
You now have two copies of NWN - the backup 1.68 and the current 1.69.
To switch back to 1.68 to be able to play Vives:
1. Rename your 1.69 folder to something like nwn-1.69. 2. Rename the nwn-1.68 backup folder to nwn. 3. When you launch NWN, it will now use version 1.68. |

Right then.
I think I know what I will be doing this weekend.
Anyone have any objects? Otherwise I will go ahead and plan the updates.
(now, do I remember how to do it anymore...?)

| Have you made the updates Paul? I noticed the Mirgul Forest Trail area has been changed: My computer can now handle the textures so it doesn't look as though it's been made out of white plasticine. |

Work in progress.
Ficcy got impatient with me and updated the mod while I was updating my local copy.
That means I have to do it again bless her devious little soul.
(and wow, the 1.69 update was 387MB!! Thank goodness for broadband)
updates to follow.

NWN 1.69 is awesome. The community has done some brilliant work and it's good to finally see the outcome of all of DLA's hard work after all these years. I can't believe this is NWN. It looks so much better than NWN2.
Puttering around in the toolset at the moment. The new content is really, really awesome. |
