The Passing of an Icon

Gary Gygax has passed away today.

Purpose in life: finding better ways of allowing players to kill themselves. Repeatedly.

Rest in peace Gary, thank you for creating something that helped me create my own (legal and safeWink) escape.

Good lordy!

*spends the rest of his night reading Gygax obits*

Search "Gygax" on Salon.com. There's a pretty good one there. Plenty more to come I'm sure, and most of its been said before.

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about dying."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means lying in the ground with dirt on your face and holding your breath forever."

-Burt Reynolds, "The End"

Timik knows goblin for "Hey, Rube!"

I think it is strangely fitting that the day I learn of Gygax's passing, I learn of D&D fourth edition.

Wow... I'm thinking back over my first experience playing the game (near the beginning before "1st edition") and I remember my first adventure in the Caverns of Quasqueton. Was quite a few good years that guy gave us. Thanks Gygax.

Its sad that the man is gone, who, though I never met him, added so much to my life. Its sad too, that I only really realized how much, after he was gone.

Goodbye Mr. Gygax.

Three sisters, born of the Sea
A sad fate t'was in store for thee
Oh Vaisha, Vahlah and Vallaesha
