It was obviously pulled out of orbit by the power of the Force Unleashed, aka the Force Wrecking Ball, aka Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
Now, the real question is, do you get to do that in-game, or is it just a cutscene where you have to watch? Because I've never played a Star Wars game before where you could toss around Star Destroyers like confetti at a parade, and now I want to. |

Before A New Hope, and during to after the Clone Wars the Star Destroyers were able to do atmospheric flying. Those ships were smaller than the "modern" star destroyers seen in Return of the Jedi and books following, and were classified as Victory Class.

Actually, those are Venator Class Star Destoryers. Victory Class Destoryers are the evolutionary link between the Venator Class and the Imperial Class. You can tell the Victory Class by it's distinctive wing design.

You mean these Star Wars Destroyers? Pretty small if you ask me. |

Blimey pdw thats just the best bit of scifi geek comparison bollox ive ever had the pleasure to witness. Ive put it straight in my favourites and posted it to my like minded dweeb chums. However i am a little disapointed not to the Red Dwarf on the page, which although not as long as the destroyer is considerably larger in volume and aproximately 3 million years older. Pride of place at the top of the page i feel. |

Atmospheric possibilities not withstanding the physics in this game look amazing. I remember a few months back checking out some clips on the development of the game, that showed off different aspects. The clip showed AI awareness by throwing Storm Troopers towards a wooden beam above an empty room. They'd try to grab the beam to save their lives, and the ones that made it tried to save others. As more and more of the troopers hit it the beam started weaken and buckling. (not bringing destruction quickly enough you get to see the wooden beam broken by a R2 unit shot at it, and the remaining troopers fall to their death).
And, yeah the trailer looks cool too. |

You're too late, Uncle Paul. Already saw it when it first came out.
Incidentally, for anyone who doesn't know: there are additional videos on the official website. Two in Game Info -> Tech Info (on Euphoria and DMM) and three in Documentaries (on various topics, and they occasionally add more videos here). |

You Star Wars gamer junkies! :)
Oooh!! Hijack!
Top 3 Star Wars games of all time?
I nominate Knights of the Old Republic 1, and Tie Fighter. Not X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter, but the single player Tie Fighter game with Grand Admiral Thrawn. With a hopeful future inclusion of The Force Unleashed.

I also vote for TIE fighter.
When I grow up, I want to be Grand Admiral Thrawn.
(PS. Does anyone remember when it first came out? I feel history repeating itself with The Force Unleashed. "WHOA! It has gouraud shading! That is the most technologically advanced thing ever!" Ahh, must be nice to have a big budget and state-of-the art technology.) |

For the designers perhaps. My personal view is that creating a game that perfectly imitates the real world (albeit with a bit of 'force magic') demonstrates a lack of imagination. Use of the star wars setting and stock characters even more so. ¦| |

Bad cameras, lousy targetting system, and very short. Other than that the physics is a lot of fun if you stay out of tight spaces. The combat is ok if you can ignore the camera problems, and choosing the occasional wrong target. Quite an unpolished game IMO, but the story is one of the better in the starwars saga, though its not likely to last you more than 6-7 hours.
I'd give it about a 6.5 out of 10. |

What is the replay value of this game? Would you play at a hundred times? Once?
After looking at the cool tech of this game, I thought that lots of emergent game play would come out of the game's behaviors. Is that true? Can you do things or do the monsters do things that you don't expect now and then?
You mentioned that the physics was a lot of fun. I am just wondering how much fun you can get out of it. |
