Vives 2 Players Handbook Posted: 22 Feb 2007 04:45 PM |
So we'd like to do a spiffy players handbook for Vives 2, much as was done with Vives 1....
Trouble is I don't know any decent free tool to make spiffy looking pages etc.... Perhaps a nice old tattered book feel? Basically a background type thing, which we can then type over and add pictures/screenshots etc?
I have no idea where to start really So anyone got any recommendations for nice tools and such (free) that we can use to get started?
Cheers

| I'll get started on it. About time I put Adobe CS and my art degree to good use after all. Heehee. |

What you should look for is a nice little layout program, Quark or InDesign for cheap, so to say. I'm not familiar with free or shareware layout programs in the Windows world, but since I know a few for the Mac, there should be about ten times the amount for Windows. There was a nice one called Ragtime Private sometime ago, it was free for non-commercial use and had all the features of the commercial edition. I think the company has pulled it from their site, but maybe someone has mirrored it.
In the layout program, whatever it is, you can then just use a backround image like a piece of parchment and write the text on a new layer. Basically, you can do the same in Photoshop too, but that would result in huge file size and wouldn't make such a nice little pdf file later... |

| My job as a corporate stooge is building PowerPoint decks. If you give me the components you want to use (pictures, text, etc) I can easily put a Players Handbook together and with the push of a button convert it to PDF. |
