*waves fist at Evanna (Jaded Prophets)* 9 hours in one room! Sheez! Others would have needed 15 minutes for that... but then, they would have missed the whole story of "Gladiator" told as an old epic tale from a bard - better than the movie, really! Cheers. :)

Nice roleplay from everyone, and especially Pretzels (again) - Hats off to you, Bel is a great little oddball!

<quote>Despite my predictions of never playing NWN2 I'm going to be getting a new machine in the near future, which will be capable of running the latest Mac OS (yeeeeeeeeee-haw!), and, I believe, NWN2 as well. So, I'm there. Still kind of in love with my Vives 1 characters, so all this is bittersweet.</quote> Just to make sure: 1: You need a Mac with an Intel processor, no used Pre-Intel Mac will be able to run it. 2. Forget the Macbook (non-Pro) or Mac Mini, those will not be able ...

Speaking of haks, did you think about using Audolo or Worldgate? Can't comment on the latter, but I found Audolo quite useful, easy and helpful.

I agree with Arathon here. Having played in Thain as well (and playing around with the module in the toolset) I see no reason why Vives should change the excisting xp functions in favor for the Thain ones. It's not that Thain's xp system is bad, it's just different and feels more like the original Bioware system, while Vives has a very different approach that I personally like better, and I still think there's nothing wrong with it.

<quote> I can't say I'm satisfied with the current situation the XP system has created, but there are more factors here at work than a flaw in the system. I'd say the size of Vives has outgrown its own XP system - more areas, monsters and even spells.</quote> Just out of interest, where do you see a problem here with the current system? Do you think there's too much xp in the pool now? From my own experience I think I can say that the "plateau" is still there, I made quite a few characters ...

Well, it's probably a matter of taste and priorities. I always found the Vives system and the plateau it creates perfect for my personal preferences. I do not enjoy at all the first 3 levels... it's just ridiculous that a single rat bite will kill my character, also, I don't see my character starting as a baby - I want the "base" I need for my character to be what he/she is in my imagination to be done as soon as possible, and the Vives system is great for creating that base, because the first ...

<quote> Also, I've been around Vives as long as you have, and I have noticed during that entire time an issue with adventuring in groups that mix epics with mid to low level characters. It seems you have a different experience than I. All I can say is that in my entire time in vives, adventuring has never worked with that wide of a level range. If it has for you that is great. But I'd also like to hear what the general player base has to say. Again all these are are opinions and anecdotes, ...

<quote> So why do people percieve the system as being unfair to people who want to party up but don't because the are afraid that they will miss out on some xp? </quote> Let's say my level 7 character had never killed an Ettin before. If I was killing one alone I'd probably get, let's say, 60xp for the first one and it'd slowly go down, like 50xp for the second, 40 for the third and so on. But my level 7 is partied up with a level 20 who killed hundreds of Ettins over the years, so we ...

I don't find anything in the essential information right now, but I was also under the impression that people travelling together should always be in a party. I thought that was a rule. Personally, I usually don't reject any invitations from others to party up, the social/multiplayer side in me outweights the character advancer. But in some cases it has a bitter aftertaste. It's not about xp maximizing, but if my level 10 character travels in a group with a level 25 warrior, and all those ...
