~~WILLOM WILDE, YOU HAVE FIVE DAYS TO COME TO THE PORT AND MEET WITH YOUR BENEFACTOR. SHOULD YOU CHOOSE NOT TO DO SO YOU WILL BE FORCED TO SUFFER THE PENALTY THAT WAS AGREED UPON. ~~

Wilem strolled down the Brandibuck path, a fresh roll of herb between his lips, fingers dancing up and down the fretboard without little care in the world. As he approached the great hall, the parchment caught his eye, and let his feet guide him within reading distance. As he took in the words, eyebrows raised, the smouldering wrap of dried hemp hanging from the lower lip. A wry grin, tinged with a hint of perhaps remorse, found his features, and a half-hearted chuckle was enough to send the blunt to the ground.

"Screw that..."

*A response beneath each note*

If any harm befall the bard, knowest thou that the consequences will be most dire. I shall curse thee to wear Serapha's Gown and ensure that thy life is filled with agony and humiliation beyond imagining.

His service to me overrides his service to thee. This is not negotiable. He serves a greater power now and thou wouldst be wise not to stand in my way.

Willom walked with a particular bounce in his step. His shoulders rolled back to a proud position of confidence like they hadn't been in over a year. His mustache freshly groomed, curled with a flourish, matching his smile that charmed each passing lady and made even one sour-tempered miller rethink his mood.

Life was good again. Or, rather, it could be good again, would be good again, given time, and allowing for the plan to unfold.

Splendid.

He was, after all, Willom Wilde. He'd forgotten that. All it had taken was one young bardess to remind him of that. He had survived Justification, hadn't he? How many could say that? And he had done it by his iron will and his cunning wits. What were one or two more challenges to him?

That broad smile and confident posture turned to the notice hanging on Doc McGillicuty's door. Willom read.

And the shoulders drooped. The back slumped. He groaned. Then he gasped. His breath hitched. Then his jaw dropped. Reading further down, he gurgled. He tittered a nervous laugh, then gulped. Running out of reactions, he finally splurched and glurgled, then fell deathly quiet.

The miller passed by again, whistling a tune, looked at Willom, and remembered suddenly what a crappy day it was. He muttered gruffly and was on his way.

Willom Wilde--Actor, Playwrite, Head of Wilde's Vials, and fearful of all things cheesy

Califus Sarten--Mercenary for Hire

Bennigan Songsinger--Brooding bard.

Karli stands before the note a long time. Reading, the bard decided, was something of an art form. It's 3 parts understanding the text and 5 parts discoery mingled with a good dash of personal interpretation. It took her twenty slow minute to decipher 60% of what was written before, at last, she realized that none of it had to do with her, specifically.

Still.

Willom Wilde was an idol to Karli. She'd heard his name circulated through the rnadom ethers of the bardic networks, pushed by the gentle breeze of rumor, and tales of his dedication to craft had inspired Karli to seek the same level of excellence. Meeting him, meeting THE Willom Wilde, was something she would always, always remember. And being able to play a part in his re-emergance upon the theatrical scene and escape Jessup's unfair barbarism was something akin to a romance!

Natalya had offered up the million to pay off Wilom's debt, while Karli had kept Wilom's contract. Of course, if Jessup had actually told her at the beginning that she was acceoting Wilom's contract as her own, she wouldn't have ... ah well. All water under the duck's back.

"Must be that witch hag Willom was talking about. The one with the dress." Karli didn't think for a moment, however, that this would frighten Jessup away from collecting the "debt" that Willom didn't owe so much as Jessup imagined he did. You can't argue with orcs when it comes to claiming body parts, Karli figured. If anything, this might just make Jessup even more angry that his reputation was being challenged due to something Willom did behind his back.

Karli mulled several scenarios of the confruntation through her head as she lay in the by the mill pond behind Doc's. The tradepost and the dyes awaiting her were out of her mind now, replaced instead by visions of her hero-and-would-be-mentor deprived of his gorgeously talented bits and pieces.

Saving him would take cunning. Stretegy. Guile. And, most importantly, money.

Three out of four was close enough. Karli hopped up and shouted for Jusin to take her back to Port.
