Actually Axon you can rotate your char now, try using the cursor arrow keys, though admittedly it's only left and right rotation. |

I didn't notice until I started playing Vives recently, and became obsessed with how my characters look.
There is an element of Sims in Vives. I really feel it. Funny thing. I see it in the tile set at Mentmori manor. And all the clothing adjustments. |

Yes well, anyway. These vids are great. They show very little we weren't told about already, but at least now we can see what Obsidian were talking about.
I like how you can completely control companions, and casting spells looks way better.
Also, they used only NWN-1 soundtrack in those vids.. Are they going to record new material for NWN2 or is this it? |

NWN 2 intro is out! :o
No gameplay footage, just cinematics. It's great though. What's this creature the guy's fighting? Hmm... *Goes for another look*

You know... that’s not a terribly reassuring intro.
The monster wins!!
..cause you know that after it shattered the dudes sword, that blade just continued on its trajectory and cleaved his skull in two.
Is this the developers way of saying "get ready to have your head handed to you.." ?

Gamespot has an E3 piece on NWN2!
Looks great. Everywhere I look though it seems like they do focus more on the single player - absolutely fine IMO, just as long as the multiplayer remains just as good as it is in NWN1. Hopefully the module size limitations and the DM client issue will both be taken care of.
The demonstration is great, anyway. A bit more of what we saw earlier, but the more the merrier I think.

Notice how the release date has already slipped from "June 2006" to "Summer 2006" to "September... definitely in September." I'm hoping to be able to play it before I have to compete with my 2 year old daughter for computer time...
I also find it hilarious that NWN2 is being designed by a company with a CEO (Feargus Urquhart) whose name sounds like it came from the random name generator included in the game.

Well looks like it's not going to be postponed anymore.
Anyway, BEST video yet! 15 minutes of info, finally we get a real demonstration of the character creation sequence, some more spiffy graphical effects, and best of all, the toolset! Check it out:

Notice how he says "you can link between modules, so you can make your adventures as long as you want", in contrast to the previous heads-up about the 300 area limit. Wonder how feasible this is for PWs. |

equally strange as its a half orc name and yet he is obviously a complete girlygimpelfoidtype i suspect foulplay . As demonstrated by his pathethic attempt to throw us all off the scent by choosing a human barbarian and having dificulty opening doors. |

This out in September business sadly doesn't apply to macs. Its up in the air right now whether they'll have a mac release of this game or not.

I wish game developers would stop making promises they can't keep.. as well as stop making promises they -shouldn't- keep (stupid buggy releases because they wouldn't take the time to FINNISH the game before release) |

| Usually they do both, release the game 8 months later then they first say, and release a game that usually needs two or three patches before its playable |

Release dates are seldom set by developers. They are almost always set by managers.
Project management and management seldom have a clue when it comes to managing software development and as a result demand too much in too short a time.
Programmers are an optimistic lot and seldom properly allocate enough time for for the tasks they have at hand. (case in point, with one developer I work with, I get a time estimate from him, and then I multiply it by three. More often than not, I'm closer than he is).
Add those two things together and you end up with releases that are late (which in the real world would actually be early for the amount of work actually required) and with bugs (not enough time for proper testing and lots of last minute changes) and with features removed (this *is* the ship date, *or else!*).
Be thankful for when it does come out, especially if it more of less of the quality nwn was when it comes out.
If we are extremely fortunate, it will receive the same amount of developer attention that Bioware has put into nwn. (Atari does not fill me with great confidence in this regard).

Well, my computer is 3 GHz but I have the same video card as Ara. I figured I'd need a new one, something about pixal shader 3.0 or something. I'm going to wait until September to buy it so the price will go down and I'll do the same with ram 3 GB total should be enough. I've already bought a external DVD drive. |
