*pinned low on the bulletin board at Buckshire Trading post is a note written in a hurried hand*

Coins wanted!

Hiya… if you need somebody ta carry things for ya or maybe go an’ fetch somethin’, I’m good at that. *added in the margin and underlined* and honest too!

You can find me in the basement of the stay-place not far from here – the one with the gnome fella who's name sounds like watcha say when you see somethin' bad - Ewie! Or ya can jus’ tell Dram inside the sell-place. I talk to her lots!

Jus’ look for me – Brymbilyn! (umm.. but some people jus’ say Brym, ‘cause they don’t speak so well. That’s ‘kay too.)

The wizard in the frayed battle robes and an unusual lightness in his step walks up to the posted note and reads it through, smiling.

"Hmmm, I thought Macha had agreed to retain this lad's services," he says quietly, to himself, "though obviously she's not making use of them right now. He did a darn fine job of sniffing out a stew that, for a change, isn't infested with mealworms, and I do so enjoy the company of hins."

The wizard scratches his chin and deftly removes the note without ripping the page, marking a reply using the piece of charcoal he keeps for those occasions when a quill and ink are not possible. Underneath the note, he neatly writes:

Lucius Edmonds, who you may recall meeting a few days back (we enjoyed a meal together just outside Port Royale) is interested in certain services and is willing to pay a fair price for said services. I appear to be staying at the same establishment as you, so leave a note with Uwe and we can meet to discuss your terms.

A shovel and a pickaxe would be an asset.

The Hin, Brymbilyn, blinked to clear the sleep from his eyes. He found himself atop a limb over-looking the Buckshire fairgrounds, a perch he had taken the night before, hoping to steal a view of the skybooms he had heard about. He slapped his knee, “Ingrown foot furs!” he cursed, “Missed ‘em again!”

He grabbed hold of the limb and swung to the ground. “Betcha they use magic dusts so I can’t peak without payin’” he grumbled as he made his way back toward the gnome’s stay-place, hoping a few hours in a bunk would make up for having tried to remain awake through the night. Along the way he stopped at the trading post to review the board there.

Byrmbilyn’s eyes grew wide as he saw a reply to his note had been posted. His sleep-deprived state immediately forgotten, he shouldered past the thighs between him and the board for a closer view. Elated, he clapped and looked up to those around, “The Magicker!” he beamed, then turned and quickly read the note again.

Pickaxe and shovel, he read, squinting in thought. Then a smile bloomed, “Betcha we’re diggin’ for treasure!”

Hardly able to contain himself, he scurried around the marketplace, selling the little baubles he had collected during his travels: garlic cloves, sulphur and silk from those nasty baby spiders – anything he could to pay for the pick and shovel. Once those were in his possession, he shuffled as quickly as his legs could manage under the heavy burden, back toward the stay-place, hoping Lucious the Magicker would be waiting.
