DMs: Paladin in Nebwood Temple Posted: 24 Jan 2006 03:38 AM |
So Bereil was in Nebwood slaying Undead left, right and centre. Soloing again with his paladin, Markus. The lich priest got mad. He died. Then the lich priest grumbled and cast a curse on him.
CHA at -4 at the moment (was actually going to peg STR and CON but he respawned too quickly; besides, I like to hit where it hurts, and Markus' vanity is his absolute weak point). He's covered from head to toe in angry and hideous red scars as a visual reminder of what happens to fools who venture down there.
Can regain his normal CHA if he gets the following items and undergoes a ritual:
1/ Blood from very powerful troll (ie troll chieftain) for regenerative properties 2/ Intact hair from devastatingly pretty fey (ie Yuki-On-Na) to restore looks 3/ Powerful item of any sort warded against neg energy (anything with +3 vs neg energy or higher) which will have neg energy prot cast upon it by a cleric during the ritual 4/ Frozen gem from the Divider Chain, for temporal properties (or something... meddling with time magic to make the cure permanent, whatever)
(He went to Juylina for help, she gave him a right scolding which was very fitting, then told him what he needed to retrieve)
Spells required for the ritual:
Powerful cleric (eg Juylina) casts: First: - Negative Energy Protection (on item #3, which must then be worn) Then in no particular order: - Greater Restoration - Regeneration - Greater Dispelling - Magic Circle vs Alignment Finally: - Greater Eagle's Splendour And Markus casts: - Aura of Glory
Shouldn't take too long. I hope. |

So, how about that new lich priest eh? |

(1) Troll's Blood
The liquid within this vial looks horribly dark and viscous, resembling a disgusting form of ichor.
It is the blood from a very tough troll, specially prepared so that one who drinks it may temporarily gain the regenerative properties of a troll.
It's also vile-smelling and no doubt tastes disgusting. It would take a great deal of constitution and willpower to hold THIS particular drink down without throwing it all up.
Cast Spell: Regenerate (13) Single Use
He'll need to see someone like Drugo or the M'Gok Tukar Shaman, Borlag, to prepare it so it can actually be drunk.
(2) Yuki-On-Na Hair
This single, glimmering strand of hair was taken from a Yuki-On-Na, a devastatingly beautiful and rare type of Fey.
Base Item Weight Reduction 10% of Weight
I've no idea how he intends to capture this intact. It'd be simple if he just got someone to cast a hold or bigby spell, or a charm spell, and took it without smiting the poor thing. Smiting her won't work.
(3) Negative Energy Warding Artefact
This can be any item with +3 (or higher) saving throw vs negative energy. To my knowledge, the only item that qualifies is Synbane Amulet - Greater.
Negative energy protection scrolls and glyphs and whatnot won't work.
(4) Coldstone Heart
A coldstone can be crushed to produce a numbing cold. Highly-compressed coldstones form a very rare, very precious sort of gemstone known as a Coldstone Heart, which is also known as a Helkrisian Ice Diamond.
These beautiful and rare gemstones are said to encapsulate the very essence of ice, time and beauty, and are rumoured to have powerful magical properties.
Cast Spell: Greater Eagle's Splendor (11) Single Use Cast Spell: Ice Storm (9) Single Use Cast Spell: Time Stop (17) Single Use Weight Increase 50 lbs.
Can look in a couple of places. Heart of Helkris, obviously. Frezt, maybe, if he's feeling suicidal, but I doubt he'd succeed there. Nothari'in is another. Under the Div Chain too, if that's open.
He's said he'll ask Aurelya about it, so I'll pass the info on to elk. Otherwise, he could also ask Aurora. If he's wise and doesn't mention that he's being helped by a Naruthian (Juylina) I reckon Aurora would tell him where to look, since she'd understand the need for preserving one's looks. |

Yuki-On-Na Hair - Check
Wheeeee, that was fun! Led Markus, Trent and Claudia on a merry chase all 'round the Div Chain with the Yuki-On-Na. She babbled some weird riddlespeak and then handed Markus the strand of hair.
Coldstone Heart
I've briefed elk so he knows what Aurelya has to say. I need to go and peek at Nothari'in to see how far down it goes (dunno how much is linked up at the moment) but I'd like to see them go pretty far down to retrieve this.
Alternatively there's the Heart of Helkris, but hooo boy, they do not want to be going there without permission, methinks. He will need to have Aurelya there if he wants to go lawfully and without invoking the wrath of Helkris *inspiration: looks at Aeneid Book VI* |

The coldstone heart? 11, I think.
When he goes to get it, I might tell him to go retrieve a couple (I guess Aurora might decide she wants some), seeing that they've 50.3lbs each and he can only carry 66lbs more before being encumbered. He can consider it a lesson in endurance or something. |

Cured.
Although... during the ritual, Juylina said that the flames ran through Markus' blood, so there's potential there for possible future developments. |

One for the public forums? Bereil said he wanted to see this one.
Bereil's another of those players who rolls with the punches. Throw consequences at him and he'll gleefully run with them. And run. And run. And run. Dragging as many players along as possible into potentially more folly. |
